rock and stone cold get alot of credit for saving the wwe/wwf but shawn michaels is very undercredited for this too, he had a vision and direction leading to attitude, thats one reason him and bret hart(bret held on to the old way of wrestling) fought so much. His idea of dx helped spark the attitute era as much as austin's kick ass sumbitch character did. Point is austin carried it and did it better, but the the first steps towards attitude were taken by hbk. hbk deserves some credit here too.
I didn't find this match terribly exciting. It seemed like the finish was anti-climatic. I don't know much about the buildup. Did Jake have a previous match that night that left him hurt?
That's one of the most pivotal moments in WWE history. Stone Cold had arrived as a contender, and he was way over after this interview. This was the moment that "Stone Cold Steve Austin" had arrived.
The old snake loses to the rising rattlesnake.... The beginning of the best wrestler of all time... Jake proved instrumental in Austin's success- also giving him much advice behind the scenes..
I never realized that roberts had a lot in common with austin in many ways. This is sort of like passing the torch in a way. I never liked how he buried roberts there in the end but it is kinda symbolic. Two snakes battling out; the younger more faster one came out victorious. It couldnt have gone any other way
@Wrestlemainia25 One of those Spanish people is Hugo Savinovich who was the announcer in Puerto Rico also a wrestler and manager. Taught by Johnny Rodz.
The Rock and Stone Cold saved WWF and I think it's a slap in the face to The Rock to put Stone Cold in the Hall of Fame and The Rock ain't got in yet. Bullshit. WCW for life though. The burth of Stone Cold was funny though
I think the Rock is gonna be inducted next year. But you gotta look at it this way. Stone Cold was the everyman's wrestler. The Rock was more or less a entertainer
Stone Cold was a strong heel at the time. I must admit, I didnt like him either. Heck he didnt care. Little did we know he was changing the WWf into the attitude Era that we now miss so much.
@warmerup i saw this on ppv back in the day and he was my pick to win the king of the ring, and i loved him till he faced bret, being canadian i had to side with bret
That would become one of many boring promos that wastes TV time that could otherwise be used to put on great matches. Does it seem strange that Austin calls Michael Hayes and Jake Roberts "son" when he's younger than they are? If anything, he should be calling them "pops" because he was supposed to be taunting the older generation of wrestlers.
One of the greatest PROMOS of all time

this win should have killed stone cold in the fans eyes. he is way too much of a cocky prick to have gotten over so well.

Why do people call Stone Cold 'the best wrestler of all time'? Sure he had mic skills and could brawl, but show me wrestling moves!

Jesus, that Stunner sounded like a gunshot going off. I liked the earlier Stunners, w/o the kick to the gut. Austin slapped them on well.

When did Austin get his glass breaking music first? This was certainly not that time.
