Sadly that is all the characters you will get in your party. The Slide is for Dodging Sakuya's Attacks so it will not do damage. Flying is helpful but will not work in some stages. You also miss out on some things as well if you do not kill the enemies... Still I think you can at least do your best and make it as far as you can.
