I need to buy this guy's music. I've looked and looked, but I can't find anything. Does anyone know where I could pick up a CD, if there is even such a thing?
Hey thanks for watching! I actually had a big wooten phase in my early twenties. I even managed to get on stage with him for 2 minutes at The Parting Glass in Saratoga, NY. He allows (or used to allow) local musicians to jump up with him if they have the stones. But my friends you need to know that I could never in this lifetime match his legendary virtuosity.
Also I think he may be omnipresent, so watch what you type.
Nathan and Victor wooten haven't the same technic, this two bass player are exceptional and peculiar masters of hisself way of play it, for my opionion... Victor wooten have more feeling that Nathan, but... this sing too and made his song specials...
yeah exactly man, i feel the same way when i watch him and wooten and all the others, either makes me want to throw my bass away or inspires me to practice harder, and i'd buy your tbird but i already have one lol
must disagree here, both use the same sorts of techniques though to very different effects. I've seen victor wooten display the highest standard of ability in a wider range of techniques than Nathan hughes though theres lots more material available from wooten than there is Hughes.
I think both are great, though I think Victor still has the crown at present.
nathan lewis hughes woo hoo! when i first saw him play out back in 1999 or so, my jaw dropped. he promised me he would someday come visit amsterdam, no sign of him yet ...
So i took this a little over a year ago and came across it on my laptop. I dont know if Nate is really proud of this performance lol but nonetheless, those familiar with Victory Blues can appreciate it's first ever incarnation.

IMO Nathan has more feeling than Wooten.....maybe it´s because of the singing and sadness in his songs...

The only thing missing in this video is the "solo". Man, I haven't got the words to classify the solo... its AMAZING!
xb400 5 years ago
I know what you mean most of Nathan's "normal" playing is too hard for most bass players but when he "solos" though... it goes to another level.

This is one amazing song. Even if he didn't play it very well, I know he can rock with it!
Nathan is my new god \o/
