1:34 I'd like to mention that in a crosswind landing this particular maneuver is acceptable and most often required. It's not bad, unless it's executed poorly. The idea is to approach at that angle and then right yourself to runway heading just prior to touchdown. Despite that I find your videos entertaining Cessna. Keep it up.
Regarding short final in a jet approaching a storm you state "You can also experience a gain in airspeed but it's not likely with a gust". Not likely with a gust? So not true! Approaching a storm you are likely to experience storm outflow which will initially increase indicated airspeed if you are landing toward the storm. The stall is a consideration if the outflow gusts were to cease. I do appreciate this topic being discussed. I earn my living teaching this.
Crosswinds are an everyday occurrence... to say that it's extreme when the aircraft is crabbing on approach is ridiculous. I'm surprised you didn't mention flaps during your long caveat about stalling on approach. Flaps are the FIRST thing we think about when landing in high winds. They increase drag and lift, the latter we can live without, the former WILL cause problems in the event of a go-around of high gusts.
i did experimenting with that. LOWEST VISIBILITY,25 KNOTS GUST 40 CROSS WIND AT NIGHT.... try to beat that. at that time i do a flight from changi(singapore) to soekarno hatta(indonesia). iam indonesian... he...he...
ILS landing i landed at the right side of the runway i cant see a thing EVEN THE RUNWAY.. so i was lucky to use the ILS.
He said that in some 'bizarre' youtube videos people fly the aircraft with a slight sideways direction to the runway, like an angle of 20 degrees as he used as an example here. Have you seen real lfie videos, some crosswinds landings have pilots going straight when the aircraft is at an angle of 35 degrees to the runway! Cessna, I love your videos, but to say that it's too extreme when your nose is at an angle to the runway is really bad.
just a video idea. take the default f/a 18, line up for a regular approach the when you are about to touchdown do a half roll, turn on afterburners and fly upside down along the runway. the when you are at the end of the runway push up on the joystick and flip foward (idk what thats called) and land regularly. you dont have to do that but if you want to you can.
Lol, A LITTLE TURNED? A LITTLE CONTROL DIFFERENCE? man you crack me up! under exagerate much? lol im happaly subscribed though because your videos are great. keep it up!
Cessna, try a slip. I had an incident a few months ago where I was caught in a thunderstorm (which should've never happened because Potomac Approach always used to let me know where the thunderstorms were) and I was coming in on final and used a slip. For some reason, that worked well. Straightening it out as you come above the runway helped me so much. Try it on FSX if you want to see if it has a different effect.
the coming in sideways is called acrab and it is safer than trying to point your nose on the runway heading...crosswind landings are necessary to have a method like a crab or it is considered suicidal.... HAVE A PLAN!
are you running something that uses internet in the background, something like bittorent or mabey a few people in your house are using internet? (mother, freinds or siblings?)
in 1944 there was a guy named rossesc, who fucked all the spammers on youtube till they died( if you are a spammer copy and paste to 10 different vids or else youll get raped)!!!!( and fucked so bad) and he'll also snap you legs at the kneecaps and rip your jaw off!!! (copy and paste to fight spammers!!!
from what i've read the lightning goes into the skin of the plane and could possibly surge the wires. i could be wrong and probally wrong. If you google what happens to a plane when its struck by lightning theres a few articles.
Is the rudder operated by paddles better than the keyboard??

In propeller aircraft, is it safe if you activate reverse trust while you are in the air?
happyapple96 2 years ago
You never activated reverse in the air with any aircraft as far as I know... I'm sure this is correct

cessna154, i have a question, what happens to an aircraft if it gets struck by a lightning? what exactly happens? AP disengages ?

airsoftboi909 2 years ago
Very little usually happens. The average airliner is stuck 4 times each year by lightning causing very little damage if at all any.
tomenglish2000 2 years ago
it can though, short circuit all sytems or detonate the fuel tanks in sevre cases.
