@FreedomForOrcas You are aware they are not deprioved of food you idiot. They are given food through out the day reguardless of their behaviour, the way they learn a wrong behaviour is a trainer will wait 30 seconds before giving the food or they wont blow the whistle or they wont get a hug. Learn you're facts before you go around lying.
@sazmullium - The motivation for training is food, yes? What if the orcas aren't hungry? Then they won't perform. Orcas must be hungry so they will perform.
@FreedomForOrcas Actually its not, the whales get fed very little through out training, their main motivation to do it is the bond with the trainer, yes they can be rewarded with fish but its just another way of getting their dayly allowence of food. They are more commonly rewarded with hugs and rub downs from trainers which improves bonding. Actually Orcas tend not to perform if full.
@FreedomForOrcas Gah typo its ment to say actually orcas tend to preform full if not nearly full. Orcas don't have the energy to perform shows in empty stomachs.
@sazmullium - I'm not saying they are starving to death, i'm saying that orcas generally perform for the food. So they are kept just a little bit hungry. Motivation for training. See what i'm saying?
I get what you're saying, but personally I don't think there is a bond. Just one species exerting their dominance over another.
@FreedomForOrcas I understand your point and how it can be seen that way and it shared with a lot of people, i used to have the same opinons but i did the adventure camp and some work experience and saw how they trained with the whales so my view changed slightly. The only reason i believe there is a bond its the orcas are rather unreceptive to people other then their trainers, and there was a difference between the newbie trainers bond and the long term trainers
@FreedomForOrcas Yeah that and other Cetaceans and mammals. Tbh i think Tilly is largely misunderstood. I do believe this attack was an agression attack mixed with what started as playfulness. They always treated him differently and never got in the water i think it could be part frustration and jealously, orcas are incredably smart, more then the media gives them credit.
@sazmullium - I dunno... I watched some of the eyewitness accounts videos on youtube... it was freaky what they were saying.
I know that Tilly, and all orcas are very intelligent, so I would think Tilly would be aware of his own size and power, at least, in comparison to a human anyway.
@FreedomForOrcas Yeah i did the same but they are all conflicting one woman appeared on two different new channals saying completely different things, one woman said something then it turned out she wasnt even near the shamu stadium, so i dont completely trust what they say. Yeah i w ould think so too but who knows maybe he just got too carried away that someone was finally in the water with him once he pulled her in and just over did it and because of his size she died
@sazmullium - Apparently someone filmed the attack. So seaworld and whoever else watched it knows what really happened. The rest of us will be in the dark i guess. Plus it doesn't help that the media is generating negative hype about it.
@FreedomForOrcas Yeah they did they claim to the public they shut it off before the attack but i watched the video i believe they caught it, also sea world have stated they do have all the attack on their own cams just that it wont be publiclly released. They did how ever release dawns autopsy though several on the internet have been faked claiming several different things. I hate the media making tilly look like a murderer when he isn't :/
@FreedomForOrcas Stoned to death? Urgh idiots ¬_¬ i think we should stone them to death, regaurdles of dawn dying she wouldn't want anything to happen to Tilly neither does her mother, Dawn died doing what she loves there is always a risk with any animal people should understand that ¬_¬
@sazmullium - lol i know right? There are some strange, dumb people in the world... apparently they were part of a religious cult (surprise surprise..)
I don't think she would want anything to happen to Tilly either, he is a wonderful animal, even though he has been involved in this. I'm glad Seaworld decided not to put him down.
"Reward for desired behaviour"
ie food deprivation.

@sazmullium - What's an adventure camp? You go into seaworld and learn about orcas more personally right?
Ah okay. Maybe the veteran trainers are the only people orcas' trust. Then again, doesn't explain Tilly's recent actions and that tragic death.

@sazmullium - Yeah I agree with that. I think Seaworld would've caught it on tape as well.. but who knows anyway.
Hah. You know I read somewhere that people wanted Tilly stoned to death? Umm... WHAT?
