Rachel McAdams doesn't look like an american marine. She looks more like a young adolescent, with no ties to the american army. Neither does the character played by Tim Robbins. This is just another stereotyped american movie, where young marine soldiers are supposed to be fun, where Iraq is great, but America is not so great. Not a good movie.

Bottom line, Tim Robbins has been an ardent outspoken person against the military. What has he done for the soldiers? He has supported ideals that undermine support for the troops. Because of this, I no longer like him. I like my entertainers to entertain me; I have a bit more education than most celebrities and personally do not need their advice. Actually at the end he re joins so that his son can go to Stanford, so his political views outside the film are irrlevant here. I liked the film, unlike Stop Loss; it actually bothered to follow up the premise of the concept of soldiers returning home to changes in their lifes in a more realistic way. The acting is solid all around, scenes like the confrontation by the roadside, the bar fight, and the las Vegas reunion are key to understand the few options they have.
