You can't get Griever, but it came from Squall's ring the same way that Doomtrain came from Solomon's ring. The name you give the ring at the beginning of the game is the name Griever will have when he appears. That's because it came from that ring. Remember who Squall gave that ring to? Rinoa, that's right. Ultimecia is Rinoa in a future where Squall dies.

how about this instead, the more obvious, after beating FF8, Squall took on his very own sidequest to find the GF Griever (since he wants to be like it) , and then some sorceress then defeats Squall and draws Griever from him...oooh

Or maybe Squall just used Griever at his highest power and forgot Rinoa (Remember the GF's side effects?) Rinoa blamed SeeD for what happened to Squall, 'cause if Squall hadn't joined SeeD, he wouldn't need to use Griever.

how can ultimecia be rinoa. rinoa would be dead instead of squall, if you kill her in the future she wouldnt exsist anymore when they all go back, might sound a bit confusing but eh

Rinoa is Ultimecia. You can search videos of Ultimecia morphing into Rinoa, if you remove the black stripes on her face it's exactly the same as Rinoa's face.

Also, Rinoa doesn't die because this is not a time continuum. This is past-present-future compressed into one. Everyone exists in all three dimensions simultaneously. And this is why defeating Ultimecia didn't kill Rinoa but instead prevented her from becoming Ultimecia in the future. Reverted the future to what it's "supposed" to be.

Shockwave Pulsar isn't Ultimecia's attack, instead,Shockwave Pulsar is Griever's attack.

The Occult Fan that mention the 666 items is actually referring to Doomtrain GF, and the ring isn't Squall's ring, but an item called Solomon's Ring. You need 6 Steel Pipes, 6 Remedy+s, and 6 Malboro Tentacles to summon that GF. You can't get Griever in this game.
