I remember seeing the "HMS. Victoria" and laughing when this movie came out. Haha, the actual ship used for "Victoria" here is an U.S. Indiana class pre-dereadnaught battleship from the 1890s. Also the real HMS. Victoria is there in the Medterrenean alright but its on the bottom near Tripoli having been lost in an accidental collision with HMS. Camperdown back in 1893.
A little anachronism at 7:30: tiller orders were official in British seafaring until 1933. They should've said "Hard-a-Starboard" (= "starboard the tiller") to turn the ship to Port.
I know they did this to avoid confusion among watchers who know nothing about the history of steering orders but still. Cameron, however, did it accurately in his Titanic, causing confusion but being historically accurate.
@RMSLusitania1 And...she was not the biggest ship in the world either. The 49,000 ton Britannic, while indeed being larger that either Olympic or Titanic, cam up short on the 52,000 ton Imperator, or the 53,000 Vaterland. And, the Bismark which would later be the 56,000 Majestic was sitting incomplete at her builders yards.
@RMSLusitania1 Actually, there was one ship that had it's entire bottom torn off that stayed afloat, but unlike the Titanic & Britanic, it's water tiight bulkheads went clear to the top deck in addition to having dual keels, although I forget the ship's name, but it was also ran by the White Star Line.
THAT IS SO COOL,A CELL IN THE SHIP,AND HE BEAT UP THE PRISONER! WHAT IF THE GUY BEAT HIM,SMASHED HIM*,AND CUT HIM BLOODY? NOTE * HIM-REFERRING TO THE PRISONER.
@JamesPriceJohnson It's a frikking Lewis LIGHT MACHINE GUN. The ammunition was fed via a fucking DRUM MAGAZINE. Now quit talking like a goddamn 14 year old MLG Black Ops player.
@trollolololololo first off, i am 14. and second off, i didnt know. i just tthought it was a cool gun. sorry that i dont study ever single gun in history.
!!!! How does she konow that the ship is going to get attack at this time ? Ya they know there a Spy but no information say that it going to attack at this time .
Two things...First, Britannic was not the worlds largest liner at the time, however she was the largest British liner built to date. The worlds largest liner was the Hamberg America liner Vaterland which was tied up in New York. The liner Bismark was sitting unfinished at her builders yards.
Second, They could make a movie about the war services of the Olympic, Mauretania, and Aquitania, all three performed superbly. if not a movie, certainly some kind of documentary.
You don't see so many stupid things in one scene (from 7:20 onwards). Just to name some (because some people seem to take this shit seriously): That submarine commander would have noticed that escort hours before, he would NEVER be surprised in that way; A sub sunk in one attack run? Never happen!; That escort seems to be a monitor-type of ship, absolutely not suited for sub-hunting; Shooting a torpedo with a machine-gun (Rambo-style :D)? In your fantasy!
yeah! biggest ship in the world unsinkable as Britannic, titanic, Lusitania, mauretania & Olympic and what about other to make a film of Mauretania & Olympic then.
@Doonantubes Olympic didn't sick. Neither did the Mauretania. They were actually both scrapped in 1935 during the Great Depression as there were no funds to convert them to oil burning from coal to make them more economical.

To make an unsinkable ship you need about 8 hull layers and 200 watertight compartments :D

@RMSLusitania1 I agree. If you say that a ship is unsinkable, then you've just signed its death sentence!
SatNavDan 4 months ago
see taking over a ship that way dosent work. You need Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey with 30 men and machine guns!

Smaller ships are safer.. easier to maneuver, less areas for structural flaw.. and harder to shoot.
scaremenga 2 years ago
scaremenga i dont agree with you at all, they are more dangerous against rogue waves
619cactusjack 2 years ago
Rogue waves have such a rare occurrence. And I would think it would be easier to turn a smaller ship to "face" the wave then a large ship.
But I get what you mean.
