  • very nice!

  • wow good job! my sister is tiring to play it by ear on her clarinet

  • I am so impressed. Thank you. I wrote the composition for Cymbalta and it is such a pleasure to hear it been played by other people.

Thank you again. It means a lot to me...

  • You're really the composer? I'm the one who should be honored; thank you!

  • @lalalindleyy That was posted for attention. Doubt it's the real composer.

  • @Dekoekkoekd

You're probably right. I guess I was just being nice and considering the tiny possibility they may not be lying. Now, it seems sorta silly. ohwellz!

  • I'm so happy !! I taught myself how to play this on the piano !! At first I was like, Gee, it's impossible to see which notes she's striking. So I relied mostly on what I was hearing, and I nailed it! Except the commercials with the people are longer, so I had to add a little at the end so that it goes to about 1:15.

  • I'm happy to hear you learned it by ear! Sorry my video wasn't exactly so helpful on a visual level

  • Hnetemeyer, you could not possibly be more wrong.

  • Thanks...thanks...I realize that now because of everyones' such lovely comments. But I COULD be more wrong. I could have said it was Beethoven's 5th...or Mary Had a Little Lamb. But it does have the same chordal structure, chord voicing, and time signature as the Gymnopedie.

  • Excellent Job! Well played!

  • thank you!

  • This song is No.1 from Erik Satie's Three Gymnopedies. I actually just bought a random stack of piano books and started playing this one and couldn't figure out where I heard it except I just kept thinking about depression when I played it. Haha! It is from the commercial. There is a set of three songs that sound similar to this one. If you search it on google it is on a website where commercial makers can buy classical music clips with certain emotions.

  • I have heard Erik Satie's No. 1 from the Three Gymnopedies close to a million times and it's not the one of the Cymbalta commercial. I have been looking for the song on the commericial but haven't found it.

  • Hell, you must be Deaf.

The song isn't No.1 of the Three Gymnopedies. :P

  • Ok, so I was wrong. I admit it. But I'm certainly not deaf and you are certainly rude. Now that I listen back I realize that the chords and the time signature are similar and that is about it. Now I'm depressed and have to go take some Cymbalta. Thanks a lot. : P back to you

  • Just letting you know, only you have the power to decide emotions for yourself. Not me. If you're insulted or depressed, you chose to view it in that way. Don't put yourself down by letting others make you feel bad. I don't like that.

By the way, I'm sorry, I know that can be rude.

And also, I'm hard of hearing. Ironic, huh? I still listen to music though.

  • @ScorpioFuror You are wrong. I have depression and I CAN NOT HELP IT. When people have depression they lack a certain chemical in their brain. Depression medications help by providing a synthetic form of that chemical.

  • @unohoo09

I'm sorry, but I don't think you understand my rationalization. I was referring to a specific person on this page about the music choice, who I could safely say isn't depressed at all; the person was being sarcastic. I never said that he had depression, only that he chose to be depressed, which was used as a sudden feeling rather than an illness.

If you have any more concerns or answers, feel free to message me.

  • ah shiz i cant read chords haha i taught myself how to play by reading the notes lol.

  • dude great fricken job i love this song!!

  • i thought it was great

  • thanks, appreciate it:)

  • waste of time

  • twas your choice to waste your own time!

  • what are the chords for this song

  • the chords are in the info

  • oooh this is so pretty! i love those commercials just for the piano lol

  • i wish i had an ear like your so i could find out what notes those were

  • fantastic! I do hope you make a tutorial!

  • omg im sorry but I love this song

  • This song is a variation of a Robert Schumann piano piece - opus 15 I believe.

  • YAY

  • I have no idea why I love this song, or the rock in the zoloft commercial for that matter, but good job!

  • that little ovular guy from the zoloft commercials is just so lovable! hahaha but thanks!

  • Well done :-) I might put the clarinet version on youtube before too long.

  • You should! I'm sure that'd sound nice; I'm really interested in hearing it!

  • this is very great work on the piano it sounds great!! :D

  • Great work! Have you transcribed this? My wife really wants to play it. I think this is my favorite commercial song ever! It actually makes me HAPPIER when I hear it!

  • I love this.

Do you have the notes for this?

  • this sounds like halo 3 in the very beginning!!! who agrees with me?

  • lol me

  • what?

  • AH i thought it was halo when i first heard it on tv!!

  • long live halo!!!! XDDDD

  • yaaay! that was a n awesome song! the commercial is good too! thx 4 notes and songs!

  • btw I noticed the video gets darker as the song goes on, maybe reverse the effect since the song starts off dark and becomes more happy at the end.

  • you're right, and that's strange because I know it was raining when I started learning it, and sunny once I recorded. I'm thinking the camera went darker to contrast the amount of light. or maybe a cloud :P

  • absolutely love it!

  • Very good. I was wondering how to play it awhile back, and made a search on here for the music, but you seem to have already done it perfectly.

  • u deserve an emmy

  • C'est encroyable.

  • amazing! thanks for putting this up here!

    ... but a tutorial would be even more awesome (;

  • This is incredible. Please make a tutorial!

  • yeahhhh. i love this song. seems simple enough, but figuring it out must have been a pain in the ass, i'd probably need some cymbalta for myself afterwards.

  • Well done 'lalalindleyy'.

  • thank you :)!

  • everytime i see that commercila imlik

what is the name to that song?????????

  • i luv it thanks

  • Very Good. =)

  • thank you!

  • Yes, please do make a tutorial!!!!!!!! I do play and read notes, but its just kinda hard, a tutorial would be better!!! Thanks you sooo much!!

  • Anyone know where I could get this as a ringtone?

  • Great job!

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a tutorial, that would be awesome. And i do not think the bird at the end fit, but thats just me.

  • haha I just found it funny how when I started learning the song it was raining, and by the time I recorded it, it was all sunny outside and the birds were out chirping

  • ahha, that was the idea :p

  • Please do make a tutorial. I've been trying to figure it out, but when the lady in the commercial is talking it blocks out the notes.

  • As depressed as I am, this song makes me happy. Beautifully played.

    M. Brooks

  • I'm glad, and thank you very much :)

  • Comment removed

  • thankyou! you should do this video again with the veiw overhead.... but i love it and giving us the chords really helped alot!

  • I tried the video overhead, but when the camera sits on top of the piano the sound quality sounds terrible, and it's really unpleasant to listen too, sorry!

  • absolutely brilliant :D

  • LOL awesome

What notes are you playing in the beginning I'm trying to sound them out and I'm not doing a good job lol

  • B flat
