  • sound great! Would you mind if you send me the sheetmusic? my e-mail is honshing_wong@yahoo.com.hk

  • so ich bin blond

  • By the way, don't you have the other movements of this symphony?

I would like to hear them too.

  • Liszt the best Works ever !! I can hear each part of the instrument orchestra.

A Wonderful Transcription. A great Man. And Cyprien Katsaris A good Performer for this works

  • Liszt's big hands helped him achieve transcribing this symphony into the piano :( And I be jealous of those big hands.

  • One of the most famous pieces to arguably the greatest composer ever, transcribed to the best instrument by one of the foremost pianists of all time.

    How can this fail? :)

  • @thepoet82 I didn't realize this was transcribed for bass trombone ;) lol

  • @thepoet82 I didn't realize this was transcribed for bass trombone ;) lol

  • music at its best

  • I just enjoyed 6:42 of 3 geniuses. Beethoven for conceiving this extraordinary piece, Franz Liszt for an extraordinary job of transcribing this piece, and Cyprien Katsaris for an extraordinary job of performing such a monumental piece.

  • OOOOWWWWWWWWWW PERFEIITO \O/\O/

  • woooooooooow

  • so a death person composed this. Be shamed of yourselves modern composers/artist/singer or anyone who thinks they are good at music.

  • @Desmonddd2002 Dude, Beethoven wasn't a zombie nor was he the grim reaper. If you mean DEAF, then you would be correct.

  • Who is the one and only freak to dislike it?! Give me a chainsaw!!

  • @f1f1s

My dear friend, there are so many jerks on earth and unfortunately, this masterpiece was found by the jerkest EVER (by the way, I do have a chain saw)

  • Why do my eyes start to water every time I hear this movement?!

  • No branco papel

    a trilha do melhor caminho

    - onde a alegria floresce.

  • GRACIAS GRACIAS GRACIAS.... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.... One for Beethoven, One for Liszt and one for the one sharing. BLESS YOU ALL THREE.

  • Who is the preformer?

  • @urbsasusual Read description.

  • GOD DAMMIT LISZT!

  • i love.. this Symphony...

  • now I see why Beethoven wrote it for symphony orchestra :/

  • I wish i could read music :(

  • 3:10

  • Looking at this reminds me that I know very little of sheet reading.

  • i want the movement 1 and 2 please like this

  • Where I can get a PDF of this?

  • It is so easy for us, living here at the beginning of the 21st century with a myriad of different technologies for recording music at our fingertips, usually at very little cost, how incredibly difficult it was for people to actually hear a work like the Bethoven 9th, in, say, England, in the 1870s. Even the largest orchestras, in the largest cities, were shy of scheduling the 9th!

    Hence, the piano transcription.

Turns out, some of them are great in their own right, as are Liszt's of Beethoven

  • Excellent!

  • this transcription is the work of a true genius. Liszt captured the power and the delicacy of Beethoven masterpiece in such a wonderful way.

  • I titanic undertaking both on the part of Liszt as well as Katsaris!

  • I just get nervous by this music. I think Beethoven meant it as a joke and/or to provoke his public. In the piano-version it sounds even more chaotic as in the orchestral.

  • 'Liszsts trancsription sucks!!! Beetovehn is better!!1' thats the best a troll can do now a days! Not on my watch!! On behalf of all intelligent humans I declare that all music sucks!!! And if you like music your a Fagass!

  • @Gargantupimp .....oh yes i gotcha: you meant " i don't like liszt's transcriptions but i like beethoven's"....when it comes to classical music styles there is no accounting for tastes...obviously you're a very angry person or you're just killing time by writing all this bullshit just to say: hey i'm here as well........

  • @MrInneressence2 Don't think you get what I'm saying. I'm saying that Liszt did the best that a man could do, and that there is no reason to dislike his transcription or to like Beethoven's original more, because one's a symphony, and ones a transcription, they are what they are. Also people don't understand that these transcriptions had a purpose before the invention of recordings, and that purpose was to allow these pieces to be accessible to everyone. They also set the barfor transcriptions

  • @Gargantupimp ok in this case i guess you're being more logical and i do agree with you...i understand the purpose of transcriptions and yes it's kinda cool that anybody could play such a masterpiece only with a piano.......anyhow, please don't hate music and don't think that music is for puffs....that's silly to say....only words can hit one more than music....anyhow, are you a musician?

  • @MrInneressence2 Oh no I was just kidding I don't hate music. Only Muslims hate music. Yeah I'm a musician, piano.

  • @Gargantupimp All muslims don't hate music; many are unschooled in fine things.

  • Fantastisch!!!

  • and a genius to play it...i hope i have the skill in the future :)

  • where can i download the shteet music??

i want to play It..! please send me a message.!

  • Where can it download this interpretation? Thanks

  • OMG WHERE CAN I BUY THIS? PLEASE REPLY!

  • You mean the sheet music or the song itself?

  • @Xjmwy Why would you call me a dumbass?

  • @samyooljackson I want the sheet music, where can I find it?

  • @samyooljackson you are not a dumbass but were can i get the sheet music??

  • @masterofpiano1 Message me your email and I'll send it. :)

  • @samyooljackson That would be copyright violation... WHICH IS AWESOME!

  • unbelievable

  • Comment removed

  • such an ignorant comment

  • fantastic!!!

  • Geez, that opening blur of notes!

It would be so beautiful if that part alone was made a 30 second solo!

  • Piano transcriptions shed new light on familar repertoire and Katsaris finds a huge range of colour in the score. The sense of struggle is well conveyed-it doesn`t sound too effortless.

  • Hmm, I look forward to playing this someday!

  • i cant even play that good!!! those notes look so hard!! well i'm only on level 5 i'm still learning!! anyways this dude did awesome!!!

  • god you are so insecure, i bet you can't even play the first 4 bars of liszt's transcription hahaha

  • Of course its not close to the orchestral version. I know that. But a transcription of this piece could be better. I don't like many of Liszt's transcriptions, but I really like his orchestral works. :)

    Regards

  • well i don't think they suck, maybe they aren't the orchestral version but i mean you gotta admit these are the best you could possibly get with 10 fingers and two hands at re creating the orchestral music...plus critics back during liszt's time were raving that these transcriptions were at times even better than the orchestral music

but i respect your opinion thanks for the comment :)

  • i really enjoy these. sure theyre not the orchestral version, but noone claimed they are.

i find that they give me new insight into the music.

  • On the contrary, someone who takes up the duty of transcribing glorious and amazing works such as Beethoven's 9th symphony is a genius for doing such stuff.

  • "transcription is not such a hard thing"

"Liszt's transcription of Beethoven's symphonies suck big time"

u r an idiot T3RM1N83R! clueless idiot! there is only one person in the world who could do these transcriptions. you can never do it, nor anyone else. ohh man i cant convey how clueless!! but schizophrenic i think u are

  • T3RM1N83R:

The fact that you said "incorrect [...] transcription is not such a hard thing" reveals how shallow your knowledge is. To condense a work that originally calls for no less than 15 kinds of instruments (e.g. 5-part strings, multi-part winds, trumpets, horns, timpani, 4-part chorus, 4-part vocal quartet) into 88 keys that's faithful to the score, sounds good, and must be humanly playable---A LOT of difficult decisions must be made.

  • Also, keep in mind that this is NOT the only transcription of the 9th Symphony that exists---but it's the one that's remembered and celebrated.

  • T3RM1N83R (quite a mouthful, that screen name):

Despite everyone's overwhelming reaction to your comment about transcription being not altogether too difficult, I must say despite what everyone has said (and the fact that it does take a good knowledge of the symphony's structure and a fantastic ear), it is rather straightforward. Compiling the proper chords can be done simply by ear. No transcription is identical to the symphony itself. However, a good transcription is not as easy.

  • @T3RM1N83R Then, why are you watching this video?

  • @T3RM1N83R Then don't watch this video then if you hate Liszt's transcriptions. I don't see what is wong about his work.

  • My God!......this is Amazing!!!

  • Nice job! Celestial sounds! Beethoven the best!

  • This is the most heavenly thing I had ever seen.. !! Beethoven is the genius man who gave to music his most treasured feeling to creat a great picture of emotions and love..

  • How the hell did Beethoven came up with a composition with a transcendent difficulty and superb beauty like this.....

And Liszt for having a great ear to transcribe this one.

    Geniuses!

  • @lolblim he was deaf when he wrote this

  • Que filho da puta esse cara emm ^^

  • "After a great deal of experimentation in various directions, I was unable to deny the utter impossibility of even a partially satisfactory and effective arrangement of the 4th movement. I hope you will not take it amiss if i dispense with this and regard my arrangements of the Beethoven symphonies as complete at the end of the 3rd movement of the Ninth." -Franz Liszt

Suellio: Franz is immortal, so is Beethoven. You're an insect compared to them as far as I'm concerned. Have a nice day.

  • bravissimo

  • Bravo!

  • "This music sucks! Its for orchestra..."

what a dumb comment. as if music isn't transcribed and played in any other instrument other than the original.

  • by you saying "music" sucks it implies that beethovens 9th sucks which by the way doesn't and come on man you have to give some props to Liszt for transcribing this wonderful music and remember back in the 1800s they didnt have records where people could just hear the beethovens 9th anytime they wanted so the main reason Liszt did these transcriptions wasn't just cuz he adored beethoven but he also wanted to give the average family a chance to play and hear the great symphonies of beethoven

  • ok i respect your opinion although i don't agree with it... and i see where your going with it...but these were the closest things people had to hearing the full symphonies back in the 1800's so i'm sure people were happy with it, plus there are countless diaries and quotes of concert goers that said these transcriptions were even better and more full then even the actual symphony but you have your opinion and respect that

  • most ridiculous comment ive heard for a while

  • リストさんの、どうしても第9がピアノで弾きたかった!!な気持が伝わってきます。

  • リストさん、あんたは神だ。

  • Leslie Howard's is amazing too... the section at 3:56: lack of words... beautiful

  • OH MY GOD! ! ! !

  • Felicitaciones!!!

  • It's absolutely amazing how good his voicing is. This must be one of the toughest pieces ever written.

  • ya because especially in the end you have to accent notes with obscure fingers....its jsut amazing! liszt is my favorite composer/transcriber

  • ahhh this is ecstasy of the highest order

  • trés intelligent cette façon de procéder ,la sonorité est pratiquement excellente, je pense qu'il s'agit de steinway ?merci .

    AL.

  • dios mio,, this is sounds so so greatttt

  • ahhh i love liszt. He's definitely in my top 10 composers

  • very good. I had only heard Scherbakov's rendition before. thanks 5*****
