Furthermore, even Russian don't want to sell their engins to us, if you think we're copying, I would say it's impossible. The engin designer has been given a special honer in China, coz he actually did pretty hard and nice work.

When it comes to military tech the Chinese imitate they don't innovate. A close look at the plane and you'll see there's nothing new about the design, from the front it's an F-35 from the side it's an F-22, no real type of game changer.
Just a note, the Chinese would be a bunch of idiots and a bunch of communists if they shot anything at the US or UK, who else is going to pay for their olympic stadiums and Burj Dubai/Khalifa rip offs.

They came to the game late this time around due to the country's turbulent recent history, so they are still in a learning mode. There's no reason to reinvent the wheel. You match then you surpass. You don't see your average 3rd world countries matching US most advanced tech. If and when they do match, I would not count on them not being able to innovate.

@visitorb Frankly, I wouldn't deny that nowadays, quite a lot of Chinese people have the problem of creativity. It's probabily because of the education system controlls the kids too much, they have been restrained. To be honest, this has been a heated topic in China for quite a long time.
About this aircraft, I did a lot of research on it, I would say, their ideas are base on your brilliant ideas, and they proved that they are not just stiffly copying.

In China copy is definitely not allowed, but you can do things which are base on some brilliant ideas. And this plane is canard configuration, some tech doesn't work on canard configuration. If you say it looks like F35 from front, I would say yes, probably because of the shape of DSI inlet,

@TheSouthernAndrew but we did improve a little bit on DSI inlet, coz we make the inlet changeable, so that the air flow which goes into the engin would be controlled at different speed, so that the performance of the engin would be better. Furthermore, even Russian don't want to sell their engins to us, if you think we're copying, I would say it's impossible. The engin designer has been given a special honer in China, coz he actually did pretty hard and nice work.
