  • Never seen a performance like this....brilliant.

  • Awesome, but what exactly are you doing at 1:15-1:26 ?

  • @2000jago I'm manipulating the delay/filter FX on the SPD-S

  • very cool. Time to dust off my TD-4

  • Michael. This is fantastic. We've been tossing up getting a TD4 for our son and stumbled across this video. Inspirational. Keep going!!

  • As much as I can't stand electronic dance music, I must admit that if you dislike this video, you have no ear for talent. Nicely done.

  • only one think !!! WOW

  • I've never being a non-acoustic drummer, love real drums, but getting out late from work is driving crazy, I can't arrive home and play drums by that time, this guy is hitting hard for an electronic set IMO, does this kit can take it an the long road? thanks!

  • Shut up and take my money XD.great drumming man love it!

  • like a boss

  • Inspirational performance Michael, Image-Line Software approves! ;)

  • what software do you use to record the audio from the drums?

  • please name track in 1:28

  • @konrad031 Milk Inc. - Go To Hell

  • soo awesome!

  • so much passion so much energy awesome stuff!

  • awesome

  • 2:00 til 2:09 -> "ohh.. you touch my tralala... mmm my ding ding dong"

  • 2:10,I like tht music...:D

  • Now this is how you use a E-Kit!

  • should i get this drum set or the td4kx2

  • honestly this is the epitome of inspiration. i love house music and am about to get my first electronic kit. thnx for the post!

@doworkson91197 the only diff is that the td4kx comes with better toms. if you have the cash do it. im getting the td4ks in a couple of days to start off and will them upgrade .

  • Hi Michael! I've got a question; do you play on acoustic drum sets too? I play the drums for 7 years now, but I would love so much if I could tune my drumset myself properly. Could you make a 'How to tune your acoustic drumset'-video? I (and many others) would really appreciate that and use it! I love your style. One of the greatest technics I've ever seen. So aggressive and fast (with Netsky). You're awesome! Big ups!

  • how do you like the drumset? I'm planning on getting a roland set similar to this as I need something a little quieter to play on in university. Are there any major differences between this set (Roland TD-4K2-S V-Compact Series) and the Roland TD-4KX2-G V-Compact Series i.e. are the pads (similar to the snare pad on the one you own) on the TD4K2S worth the extra dough?

  • I play drum since 1 year, on a Roland td4, you're such an inspiration source!!

    Thanks man!

  • @legodidakt Thank YOU !

  • @michaelschack Haha I see 2 hours ago that you'll come in Lyon thursday for a little show!

    Great I'll be there ^^

  • Wow!!! once again, Awesome.

  • daamn! 2:39 and on.. words can't really describe that take

  • @canpaksoy Thanks for your kind comment ! check out the new SPD-SX clips here on YouTube. Grtz

  • @canpaksoy I hope you mean this in a positive way :-) Cheers

  • this is really great, but what really amazes us? Is it his drumming or just his adept knowledge of the electronics and ability to turn a couple knobs? again, sounds great as a techno dance anthem, but it really is in the software and just being familiar with the system, not being Neal Peart.

  • @MrSuperbombastik I don't really understand your point. What software do you mean ? There's only a live triggered SPD-S and a live played TD-4 drum set, no MIDI recorded and no audio or MIDI post production. Check out "Clip One" by SquarElectric - same concept...

  • GREAT!!!!!!! At 2:11 are the sounds like simmons sds 5 :)))) avesome

  • dude what are you doing at 1:16 ? is it what i think ?:P

    great performance!

  • you are a great drummer! nice video... i think i buy it... super!

    greetings from germany

  • @derDennO Danke !

  • i really need to know. can you add more cybals and toms to this kit?????

  • Top notch!

  • Sickhead

  • ouh fuck, very good, i wanna electronic drum! ! i have now one acustic but very very noise. . . .

  • woooow

  • How can you have 3 cymbals and a double bass while the kit has only 1 bass and 2 cymbals?

  • @liamzuid you can add an extra Cymbal or pad with the TD-4 and just use a double kick pedal on the kick pad, which uses one kick cable. Like acoustic drummers play double kick on one acoustic bass drum. Easy !

  • @michaelschack Do you know a good fitting double kick pad?

And a pro quality low floor tom, not the floor tom but the one even lower.

  • Nice!

  • Hey Michael!

Currently I'm using the TD-12 by Roland (great kit!) and I would like to create such electronic background music like you in this video. Is it possible to create tracks like this with free programs for pc or with the TD-12, without an octapad like you are using in this video?

    Thank's and keep on going!

  • @HaVoK13292 I'm using an SPD-S in this video, not an Octapad. Actually, check out my new SPD-SX clips here on YouTube (3 of them) : the music was prepared in my studio, and then transferred to the SPD-SX (like here on the SPD-S). You cannot produce this kind of music with the TD-12 sequencer, since it doesn't offer you the same synth sounds and effects. Grtz !

  • hey man...how much do you charge for a drum track?

I would love to have you play on one of my originals

  • @juzkillin Thanks for your comment. Contact me on michael.schack@telenet.be !

  • 1:15 fart ?

  • @sweetypie000 lmao

  • 10 People crazy!

  • Can you get extra cymbals for an electronic kit separately?

  • Is the TD-4 better than a TD-7? I see it's more compact but seems to have far fewer drum sounds. It also has no midi in but the td7 has that. I'd appreciate knowing what the advantages are over this older model. Thanks

  • does this module require roland brand pads to work?

  • @MrSnoopy2a No it doesn't, but for best dynamics, yes. You can adjust parameters in the module and the very low latency is guaranteed with any pad combination. It's all in the module :-)

  • I've said it before, and I'll say it again... Schack is the man!

  • @Rashasha Thanks for that !

  • epic snare hit at the end

  • Can you choke the cymbals?

  • @GibsonGuitarist666 yes I do believe u can choke the cymbals, prtty amazing seeing theyre made of plastic! :)

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooo pazzeeeeescooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Very nice video, this entertains me :)

I maby get that drum kit. I hope so. Definitely after this cool video, thanks man.

  • which sticks are you using?

    nice vid by the way...

  • sounds like ramstien awesome lol

  • excellent ! really cool playing. an 11 out 10.

  • @michaelschack thnx do u need any cables or any wires to plug it in ??

  • im getting this kit soon just wondering can u just plug ur ipod in and play along

  • @nufc6scott Yes you can ! There's a special "mix in" audio input - no external mixer or double headphone setup needed.

  • 0:39 Fist pump.

  • @Zimmy244 Thanks !

  • Dude,, awesome,, 'nuff said,,

  • @LeeHaydn Thanks for that short comment. Inspiring. Check out SquarElectric here on YouTube:-)

  • i have a tama cobra absolutely awasome its fast and smooth i also bought another kickdrum from roland the comes with the td4 sucks ! a bougt the dubbel cobra here in holland second hand for 200 euros a greath deal !

  • i have a tama cobra absolutely awasome its fast and smooth i also bought another kickdrum from roland the comes with the td4 sucks !

  • what kind of double kick did you get? how much was it? and where did you get it? lol i have the same set and have been looking for one

  • @xHXCx2009 hey ty ty

  • hi Michael

  • Epic!

  • hey cool video im getting that kind of drum set and i was wondering if it can it do rim shots

  • @TheBoxerHDZ Yes, Rimshots no problem !

  • @michaelschack is it possible to record it on a portaestudio in one of the channels via line in??

  • @miradassimplesrock you can output audio from the TD-4 module through phones out and master out, so yes, of course possible. But you cannot record music into the TD-4, just play along with it.

  • is it just me? or does this sound a lot like wangan midnight maximum tune music?

  • is there a mx in or something you can connect your ipod with

  • @MultiDanial1234 Yes there is a line in jack.

  • @MultiDanial1234 Yes there is

  • crap you're making me look bad! wish i could play like this...

  • That is some serious tight-ass playin. Peace!

  • @Dontotto Thanks for that - peace back !

  • Heyy i have a question, how did you connect another cymbol to your set? i thought that other cable thing was only for another tom. please reply.

  • @TDOG871 You can use this for any pad/instrument : a cymbal pad, a tom pad, a 2nd snare, hell even an extra kick pad. Easy:-)

  • @michaelschack Sweet. if i buy another cymbol pad will i come with the mounting equipment needed?

  • @TDOG871 no, you need to order that extra.

  • @TDOG871 You can connect cymbal or drum pad.

  • Wow excellent performance !!!!!!!!

  • Hi, can i use the td4 to start/stop the reason sequencer? i`m asking this because i use in live gigs my computer with reason to play some backing tracks, but sometimes it`s very hard to start and stop using the keyboard space bar!!!

    By the way, nice playing!!!!

  • @fabiobernardo22 Thank you for your comment ! You should be able to start/stop Reason from your TD-4. Just assign a note number/MIDI channel from one of the pads of TD-4 to the start/stop button of Reason, and there you go. Good luck !

  • @michaelschack Hi Michael... i did what you said and now works fine.... Thank you and keep on rockin'!! You are a great drummer with a modern concept that makes all the difference!!

    Regards...

  • Michael, I am trying to connect my Roland SPD-30 to my Roland TD-KX. I am using a Midi conection but can't get both to play with one interfering with the other. How to do I connect both for playing or record on the SPD-40? I will use either a MIDI or USB or other?

  • @khx2kay What TD-module are you using ? MIDI should be working fine. TD-9KX USB has no MIDI functionality, so you should connect them through analog MIDI.

  • muito bom.

  • I have a question if you play the roland SPD-S is it connected with a laptop. Also what is better the roland SPD-S or the roland octapad SPD-30 and can you connect them to another electronic drumset not from Roland?

    And I love your drumming

  • @V4Kt0RR SPD-S is not connected to a laptop - it's completely stand alone in this clip. SPD-30 and SPD-S are different instruments - with Octapad you can build your own phrase loops on stage, like with a loop station. With SPD-S, you need to prepare all your audio samples first and then trigger them on stage. You can connect/combine both with anything, but I use them completely stand alone. They are not connected to the Rolands- I also use both with acoustic drums. Thanks for the comment !

  • I like your technique :D

  • You look like the Turtle out of Over The Hedge!

  • The realm of electronics is allowing drummers to not only be complete musicians who can play groove, melody and harmony AT THE SAME TIME, IN REAL-TIME, but take music into the future. Guitarists, keyboardists and other instrumentalists will remain relevant, but I believe that the time has come for drummers to lead the way.

    BTW, terrific playing!

  • @ThePoorBoy Well said ! Thank you so much for this Quote Of The Day... Grtz

  • Hi! What are the differences between this set and the TD4 KX? Because the KX is really expensive!! Which one do you recomend? Both have USB PORT and MP3 SUPORT?

  • @FKURKO Hi there - the TD-4 I used in this clip is the KV version. The new KX version has all mesh heads and the new cymbal pads and KD-9 kick trigger. The module is still the same, so no USB/MP-3 support. That only goes for the TD-9 module. Grtz, Michael

  • are those...credit cards attached to the sampling pad?

  • @stylerprofyler nope, it's gaffer tape with sample names :-)

  • @michaelschack not a bad idea. thanks for responding!

  • this is much harder than rock drumming.

  • WOAH MAN!!!

  • Michael! I've finally got Roland-TD4 KX2, and I am absolutely happy with it. Thanks again for your answers to my questions about TD-4. And thank you for your music, it is so much inspiration and energy!

  • @MrMamurk Thank you for your kind comment. Wishing you lots of fun with your TD-4 - happy V-Drumming !

  • im getting an eargasm each time i listen to this song, amazing drumming, delicious :D is this song on the album? if yes, i might want to purchase a copy ^^

  • @ZNieLZ thank you thank you ! check the songs out on my bandcamp.com page. There's more... This music also contains excerpts from a Belgian n°1 Dance group, Milk Inc. You can find live concert clips here on YouTube. Grtz !

  • Hey, great playing. You play those pads pretty hard, have you had any problem with them wearing out?

  • @ThomasPerhai No, not at all. Roland V-Drum pads and cyms are strong. That's why I choose them :-)

  • is this song on their cd as well?

  • killed it bro

  • 7 ppl don't know what's mean electric drums

  • @bshara18 Electronic.

  • Thanks Michael. You made dance/techno/whatever you call this music enjoyable for me for 3 minutes. Pity as soon as your video finished I went back to hating it! ":(

  • I listen to a little bit of everything, but I've realized today DJ'ing is losing its talent its just mainly kids on mac-books but it's nice to see there's still some legit people like yourself keeping it real great work man.

  • hey Mike,

    BTW... u ROCK m8!!!

  • @steen : I agree. I just downloaded his play along tracks from bandcamp.com A little adventurous music, but very inspiring. you can find his solo Squarelectric music on iTunes as well.

  • This may be the best thing iv'e heard in my whole life. I'm playing keyboard myself and i love this type of music.. I listen to this everyday.

    THANK YOU!

  • 8o) great !!!

  • will almost goes ta ... got the shit! they alleviate. kkkkkk. 1:14 until 1:23. kkk. but it plays well. : p

  • good

  • Sweet!!

  • That is a great sounding kit! I ran across your video, searching for TD-4 samples. I've been looking for an affordable kit, and the TD-4 looks and sounds like what I'm looking for. I had never seen one of your vids, until now, and I'm glad I ran across it. Your are an amazing drummer. I've been playing for 40 yrs, and it takes alot to impress me. Hey, I'm impressed!!

  • Nice chops!! Finally, someone that's not afraid to wail away on an electronic kit!! I love to see a drummer play, that actually looks like they're playing. BTW, I love the kit that you accessed at 2:41. Great sounding snare, and toms. Which kit was it? Again, nice playin'.

  • @mikewnc Thanks for your kind comment ! Actually, I made this kit on the TD-4 module. Easy to do.

You might like another recent clip I posted here on YouTube, you can find it on the SquarElectric channel. Check it out ! Grtz, Michael

  • is the td-9k better?

  • @xHUTSEx more sounds, internal play alongs, and the TD-9K2 version just came out. Check it out in the clips featuring V-Topia @ NAMM 2011. Of course, TD-9 costs more than a TD-4.

  • @michaelschack thank you!

  • 1:14 and 2:00

He obviously gives two shits about his music

  • I have the same drum kit, but i can't play as well as you

  • u know i have watced that video more than 100 times i love the music i love the drums ( which i bought after seeing that video ) and i love all ur videos ! You rock

  • @segamwkaikles Thank you - inspiring comment ! Check out the SquarElectic Clip One - hope you'll like that one too. Grtz

  • @segamwkaikles How is the drum set? I'm considering buying a 2nd hand td-4 for 900$!

  • @GibsonGuitarist666 i think it's 1200 euros (i can't rember exactly), {and the srum set is fantastic i can't stop playing!}

  • @GibsonGuitarist666 depending on what type i should advice reconsidering, the td-4k is 700/800 new, the td-4k is 1000, the td-4kx is 1150 and the td-4kx2 is 1300, check which type it is, for the td4-k and k2 i should consider buying new since it respectively will be cheaper or not that much of a difference anyway.

  • the music was more gay than a boy sucking on a dildo but u are an amazing drummer :D

  • Wow that was crazy man, great sounds coming from this video!

  • amazing drummer this is a drummer that can be a fuc.... damn good teacher!!

    keep up the gw

  • Hi Michael,

great performance! Your drumming inspired me to try out more electronic music with my drums. Last week i got my own SPD-S and i have a question

where do you get all your sounds and loops from?

  • @Yazuac23 Thanks for your comment ! Most of the music is coming from my studio - my own music that is or at least my own productions based on remixes I did. My SquarElectric album music is now available as play along downloads on bandcamp - michaelschack.bandcamp.com - it's all high res downloadable !

  • this is the td4 s v right?

  • @Legomygrego16 correct

  • Wow that was BADD ASS!

  • @wilcomail check out another new clip I did - Clip One under SquarElectric. Enjoy !

  • wow i never thought one could play along to eletronic music!

  • @swissrammsteinfan you can do it yourself as well if you want : michaelschack.bandcamp.com - play alongs with and without click now available. THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT !

  • super gast!

  • Michael! You know this device well. Is there need to adjust preferences every time before performances? How long does TD-4 store in memory customized settings (such as muffling) if the device is turned off?

  • @MrMamurk You don't need to adjust your settings once you canged something already - the TD-4 has flash memory, so whenever you switch off, it will remember your last settings forever. No worries !

  • Cool! I forgot!!! Of course - th
