I still can not stand/understand the fact that Cynthia keeps using the surname Lennon, after more than 40 years since their divorce (& some other marriages). Does she have any self respect?

If you knew anything about entertainment law you would know that it is easier to protect a public entity if you ARE that public entity. Cynthia married private men after John, nothing to protect in terms of liable and slander in those cases in comparison to being the wife of a public person.
It's the same reason why Jackie kept Kennedy in her name while married to Onassis

What also breaks my heart is that most people say that Paul was more of a father to Julian than John. Even after the divorce Paul went to visit Cynthia and Julian beause they were friends and Paul thought it was wrong to exile them just because Cynthia and John weren't married anymore.

Cynthia really got a raw deal. She was with John through all the crappy times when they were poor and had nothing and when the Beatles were trying to prove themselves. She was left largely alone to care for an infant, and then ultimately she was left altogether. Worse still, John pretty much abandoned his son along with Cynthia. Not cool.

whenever i think of john as a child, it feel sadness. he grew up with pain, and so sometimes he caused pain because of this. but when i think of john grown up, i still think of him as a child. john never let go of the things that had been done to him as a child. he was scarred and had a hard time with life and living it, and treating people a certain way. but cynthia still loves him and had forgiven him. we dont know him, she does. and if she can forgive him, so can we.

To the above, yes John gravatated more to Yoko eventually as he was looking for a domineering motherly figure..he used to call Yoko mother even and she did take over his affairs, leaving him to concentrate on making music and writing his songs.. Cynthia was more laid back and let John handle himself and was kept demure by him also, unfortunately because she let him. Yoko was not one to be controlled and so therefore she took over the reigns and John let her...
It's not uncommon for a mother to want to have the same last name as her child even if she didn't for a while (no idea & it doesn't matter).
Some people think it was unfair for John to leave Cynthia behind, but she may have not been the mother figure John wanted at the time. That much fame historically has given people license & maybe not appreciative of early support.
Someone pointed out that John gave Julian about as much attention as Alf gave him. That would be said if it is true.
Yeah, the problem with John and Cynthia was that Cynthia is very passive, calm by nature, and not authoritative enough. Yoko was his disciplinarian, his mother, his warden. Yoko wore the pants and took an active role in, I don't want to say controlling John in the strictest sense of the word, but she was more active whereas Cynthia just stood in the background and hoped that John would behave himself. There's nothing wrong with Cynthia, but John craved that discipline that Cynthia didn't have.

#1 - Lots of divorcees continue to use their ex-husband's last name. See: Cynthia Lennon, Laurie David, Lil Wayne's wife, Bianca Jagger, and others
#2 - John did not initiate divorce against Cynthia. Cynthia filed for divorce against him for adultery.
#3 - John and Yoko were separated for 18 months and were dangerously close to divorce
#4 - Yoko did not "watch him die". When John was shot, she was inside the reception area. Though I guess she did remain there with him.
