This is all an act, he didn't know how to speak French. Remember he was an actor, and a good one. Pierre Trudeau must have seen this clip because when he met Brando he spoke to him in French. Brando told him he couldn't speak French, Trudeau got upset and asked why was he going around pretending that he could speak French? Brando said : "Im an actor, that is hat I do".

The interview is to promote the movie ''Morituri'' and it was aired in Canada on september 9th 1965 in NYC. The interview was given by Brando to a french journalist (France) who then sold his interview to the french-canadian TV. Brando talks little about the movie and mostly about the threatment towards indians and afro-american people in USA in the 60's!
