I masked around my character in that scene, and duplicated the clip, placing it on tracks above the original video clip, and made each clip more transparent than the one below it. You can change transparency by dragging down on the top of the clip, and a line will appear, marked as "opacity". If you can't mask, you can green screen your character for the same effect.

Masking isn't really hard in my opinion, it just takes a lot of time. I don't have vegas open atm, but to mask, go to the pan/zoom icon on the clip, and on the bottom left there's a check box saying something about mask. The anchor tool is on the toolbox type thing to the left.

It's masking (ugh). It took QUITE awhile. I also used masking for :26 (the tickets), 1:26 (the fence), 1:36 (the statue), and other parts. I just copy that section of the clip and paste it above the original. then mask around whatever object you want to apply the effect to. You won't see the difference, since the original clip will be showing through the mask, but once you add an effect you can tell the difference. Then you just add the effect to the clip you masked. Very time-consuming :o

Thanks =D... and what do you mean by good stiff video maker? Just wondering =p. I tried a bunch of different effects and transitions in this video, which probably made it look over-edited =p. I tried to make this RSMV enjoyable to watch. If you haven't seen this video, you should: helicoptor - bloc party rsmv by a1chrisryan1a. Totally blew me away. My goal is to be better than he is =p.
