Thank you again for this video. I keep coming back to it and I have already got some of the albums. I especially like uneXpect, Obscura and Blotted Science. Thank you for all this good stuff.
@MrDoggy78 No problem! I'm delighted to hear that you found the list helpful! I'm glad I can play a role in introducing superb music to the world! Glad you liked the stuff, man! Thanks for watching.
@aledrum81 Hey! Fantastic job on the album! You had some gigantic shoes to fill after Marco and you managed to do it flawlessly! I'm liking TUOL more and more everyday! Thanks for the comment!
@lekremyelsew I know! The video was running long, and I didn't want to babble on for too long. I could have talked about how great the album is, but I think the clip speaks for itself! Jarzombek is a genius!
@itsnotbutter13 Not to mention his past involvement with Necrophagist (who hasn't been the same since his departure, along with Müenzner)! Definitely one of the top drummers in the biz!
Great list dude... but I feel there are a ton better clips you could have used to preview Omnivium... You used what I felt like was the weakest part of the title track lol but hell thats just my opinion. unbelievable album nonetheless...
@Zyborggian Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed the list! As for the clip, I liked it because it showcased some of the versatility in the album. I guess I felt like it emphasized the importance of the bass for those not familiar with Obscura and it showed some drum variation, as opposed to a blast beat or double bass onslaught. There were certainly better parts in the album, you're right, but it's tough to pick out the best from such a consistently good album!
I think you missed Vektor and Devin Townsend. What you said about Unexpect could be (almost word for word), what you could say about Devin Townsend's "Deconstruction". And with the most monstrously amazing line-up of guest vocalists on an album, period. What do you think of Deconstruction?
@Bassbait To be honest, I have only heard a track off of "Deconstruction," so I haven't had a chance to listen to it in its entirety. It is certainly on my list to check out, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up liking it more than a few of the picks here! There's still a lot I need to check out from 2011!
@derekisdman Well I pre-ordered it as soon as I got the chance. Have you heard his work with Strapping Young Lad or his album Ziltoid the Omniscient? If you liked either of those, Deconstruction is a must.
@Bassbait Yes - I've heard Ziltoid and some other stuff from them. I also saw Townsend live once, and quite enjoyed that! I have high expectations for this album!
@TheLondonGuy123 Yes I know, and I knew that someone was going to point this out, too. It sounds like I'm implying that Bobby was the drummer of Blotted Science, but I know that BS is composed of Ron, Alex, and Hannes. I'm just a big fan of the Jarzombeks (Watchtower, Spastic Ink), and, since Ron is technically the brains behind Blotted Science, I was just referencing his genius in general (and the brothers overall). Thanks for watching, though!
@Jotun23 Hey! Thanks a bunch for the comment - I'm glad you enjoyed the list! I definitely think Alarum is highly underrated and deserves a lot more exposure. If you end up liking Natural Causes (which you will!) definitely check out Eventuality, too!
"Holy shit" was exactly my reaction to Fables of the Sleepless Empire. I was surprised to see these guys on your list. It's so hard to find people who like Unexpect. They're an acquired taste.
Also thanks for the awesome video, I've got some new stuff to listen to thanks to you. Great list.
@XenogeneicGuitarist I just recently discovered them, actually! I pretty immediately fell in love with their style, though, and knew it would be high on the list after hearing just a short bit of the album! Really fantastic, and so much creativity!
Thanks for watching and for the kind comments! I'm glad people are finding it helpful! I hope you end up enjoying some of the stuff on the list. :D
@MrDoggy78 Thanks for watching and commenting! I'll definitely check out Solefald. There's A LOT that I haven't listened to this year. I'm sure my list is going to change a lot as I'm exposed to more stuff.
@jaws8475 Well, for me, my top 10 metal albums and top 10 albums in general would be pretty much the same list! But, you're right, it's probably more accurate to add "metal" in the title. Anyway, thanks for watching and the comment!

Fun Fact: Hannes Grossmann is the drummer for both the #1 and #2 albums. The man is a beast.
