I am 16 weeks prego and I have been reading the hypnobirthing book with my hubby and listening to the CD that came along with it. Unfortunately there are no classes in my area, so these videos are very helpful. This is my 3rd child and my first hypnobirth, and I'm excited about it!!
This is the third hypno birth I've watched. I don't believe it works: 1) They don't show the Mother in ACTIVE LABOR (when mother has contractions with only 30 seconds to 1 minute to recover or less). 2) They don't show the mother during push time. The mother could be shown from the chest up, if she did not want to be shown from the waist down. Every HB I've watched these parts have been deleted. I was able to breathe through my labor but when contraction came closer I needed epidural
@nawmmbr ooh, also there are a couple of videos that are ALL about pushing with Hypnobabies. They're called "Mother-Directed Pushing". Hope this helps!
@EnjoyBirth I don;t have a problem with the word contraction, but if it bothers others, then by all means, call it something else, right? I find it harder to remember to "translate" the various words! I just am that way. Muscles contract, that;s what they do. pain is a feeling, that's all. I did bradley for my first two, (loved it!) added hypno for #3 (#4 is due any day). I think those techniques work well together. I love natural childbirth, thanks for your videos!
@j8nnyl Glad you enjoy the videos. :) What words mean to YOU is what matters. If a mom has a negative connotation to a word, it is important if she uses a different one.
This is really inspiring and helping me to prepare my hypnobirth.
It must be hard to stay focused in a room as high-tech as this one, as hospital looking as this one. And then the time after the birth and in between with all those people talking and asking and taking the baby - does not look cozy and comfortabel and still Melissa seems happy. Wow!
@219snowbird Some people have a negative connotation to the word contraction - most automatically think pain. Pressure wave is more neutral. People hear it and think - pressure instead of discomfort.
Oh i so hope i can do this. My last 2 births i was embarrassed, felt like i was so out of control and fought the process. I am already practicing with music and talking to my husband about it. We are at 20 weeks. Still plenty of time to practice I hope. I've been practicing positions for labor too and feeling out what opens up my body. Since I started practicing my hips and pelvis have STOPPED grinding and clicking in the morning! Thankyou for sharing. I'll have to try the finger drop!
@Mandy09Cheal How wonderful you are taking time to prepare for your birth! The fingerdrop is part of the Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis program. Let me know if you have more questions about it!
Thats what I was doing with first child I would be reading or talking and turn me self off and did lots of walking around, the last hour well that was painfull
Oh Wow. I am hoping I can out into action the hypnobirthing I have been learning. This was great to watch to see how to put all the skills we are learning into action. I only hope I too can stay as calm as Missy. It was good to show that all hypno births dont have to be in water. Thankyou once again.
Thanks for this. I am just finishing my Hypnobabies Homecourse (I live in Germany) and was a little unsure about how to use my switch during labour. Great to see some visual images of the techniques being put into action! Will incorporate this into my visualisation. Thank you!
When I do my visulations of my birthing time, this is exactly what I picture (minus the sick husband...sorry). It is wonderful that I can now share this with my hubby so he can have the same picture and expectations. Thanks so much for sharing!
What a great example of how Hypnobabies works! I used Hypnobabies as well and had a very similar experience. It helped me relax deeply instead of fighting and that made me much more comfortable. It helped me be calm and focused just like Missy is shown doing in the video. Thank you so much for sharing!
As a first time mom who has just started the Hypnobabies home study course, I absolutely love this video. It's beautiful and inspiring how comfortable, calm and in control MIssy is. Thank you for sharing!
Hypnobabies is BY FAR the *best* hypnosis for childbirth program available. It should be covered by insurance companies, & endorsed by all birth practitioners.

I like pressure wave better too I'm working on switching my verbage

Why doesn't everyone use the word pressure wave? The word contraction sounds scary.
shybettigurl 10 months ago 6
@shybettigurl Good question. I guess because most people don't even think about the words they use, or their impact.
