In person he talks about quotes of wise people and funny movies most of the time. Personally, from meeting him, he seems completely humble and interested solely in artistic and cultural values.

@DjentFoxProductions You can play it on a 6 but you will need to beef up the strings a little. I used to use a 56 gauge 7 string set on my 6 minus the high E string.
What I have learned most from watching is the funky deep keys a lot of metal players are using make the arpeggio shapes many of us know sound like something different or unusual is being done to produce the sounds you're getting.
I kept wondering if there was some mysterious technique I had never come across but this video cleared up my confusion.
The lower tuned key gives your arps much better definition/clarity, particularly on the treble strings.
That first sweep always sounded so perplexing to me but turns out to SO simple!
I just have no background in this style, these guys are all basically playing classical European on super high gain down turned guitars. Seems to be more focused on using emotive flats rather than emotive sharps to produce soul.

@barneycockburn Not really. The bottom 6 strings are normal basically(lower tuning of course) then the dropped B on the 7th. Just seems unusual because it's a 7 string. 6 string normal plus a lower string that's dropped. If this is unusual I would hate to see what some of Tosin's tunings are considered.

@jdmimport13 Not quite sure I follow you saying that the bottom 6 are normal when in parentheses you say "lower tuning." In any case, the bottom 6 actually a step up. The tuning description said a 7-string in dropped A tuned up a step. So a normal 7-string would have the bottom 6 normal already and the 7th string is B. For this tuning, the B is dropped to A and then everything tuned up a step so you're back to B on the 7th string but the normal bottom 6 are up a step higher to F# B E A C# F#

If you're into metal, and you listen to All Shall Perish, you're doing it wrong.

@bANDynamiTe, where i come from, you call it a gypsy minor, so, calling it "hungarian minor" might not be that accurate, though its the common name :D anyways, its the same as a harmonic minor, except having an augmented 4th instead of a normal 4th, means, when playing on a loose scale you have 0-2-3-6-7-8-11-12

That first sweep always sounded so perplexing to me but turns out to SO simple!
I just have no background in this style, these guys are all basically playing classical European on super high gain down turned guitars. Seems to be more focused on using emotive flats rather than emotive sharps to produce soul.

@barneycockburn Not really. The bottom 6 strings are normal basically(lower tuning of course) then the dropped B on the 7th. Just seems unusual because it's a 7 string. 6 string normal plus a lower string that's dropped. If this is unusual I would hate to see what some of Tosin's tunings are considered.

@jdmimport13 Not quite sure I follow you saying that the bottom 6 are normal when in parentheses you say "lower tuning." In any case, the bottom 6 actually a step up. The tuning description said a 7-string in dropped A tuned up a step. So a normal 7-string would have the bottom 6 normal already and the 7th string is B. For this tuning, the B is dropped to A and then everything tuned up a step so you're back to B on the 7th string but the normal bottom 6 are up a step higher to F# B E A C# F#

@funkinthechili Lower tuning was being used as compared to the standard 6 string guitar reference since most people don't play 7 strings. You misunderstood my reference and being that I've been playing guitar for 20 years please don't ever try to teach me something. I know it's a step up when being used on a 7 string. Didn't think I needed to lay it exactly step by step as it seems you have so generously done. Thank you

@barneycockburn actually its not i use it on my 7 string alot its way nicer then standerd its just a step higher its actually standerd for an 8 string so it works out nice

@Reapersden666 I've been thinking about getting in to 8 string, but I never got a seven string. Would the transition from six to eight strings be too much? I feel I have the technique and know-how, but I'm just worried that it may just be a bit too much of a change for a twenty four year old who's been playing for thirteen years!

@barneycockburn hahaha ya iv been playing for about 10 years and when i changed from a 6 to a 7 for like 6 months it was strange i mean i think the transistion wouldnt be much at all just practice i mean the feel would definitly feel strange but dude we have been playing so long it would be pretty self explantiory i say go for it bro i mean shit u got nothing to lose you would only gain better experience :-)

Luke is so bored with these awful riffs. He has way more skill than this garbage. HIs music sucks because it is too all over the place, ASP sucks because it's boring and derivative. But Luke has way more chops than this crap.

@Metalheadmalitia I never said they werent good guitar players. They're just horrible at writing music. Luke is capable of playing way better music than this. Kirk Hammett isn't a god, but thats a perfect example. Kirk Hammett may not be able to play some of these fast scale shapes, but he can write a songs 100 times better. If you're into metal, and you listen to All Shall Perish, you're doing it wrong.

@bANDynamiTe, where i come from, you call it a gypsy minor, so, calling it "hungarian minor" might not be that accurate, though its the common name :D anyways, its the same as a harmonic minor, except having an augmented 4th instead of a normal 4th, means, when playing on a loose scale you have 0-2-3-6-7-8-11-12
