I enjoy applications, but this was just waaaaay too set up. I mean, overhead "judo" chops? Who's going to attack with those? it's true there's baji in this video, amd yes some of these takedowns you can do with full force and make your opponent spin in the air before hitting the ground, you know it is baji because of the ducking movement they do to control their enemy's center of balance.

This video does look very "Karatefied".

The main focus of Baji should be power harnessing and issuing. However, Baji does involve grappling, amoung other aspects of fighting. It's a comprehensive system involving close range strikes with hand, feet, elbow, knee, hip, shoulder, and head strikes. That's the beauty of Baji... you learn everything from the initial physical contact to the chin-na(joint locks/pressure points) to grappling.

actually yes, it looks kinda like grappling in the foms, notice how the master does 2 steps, apparently the first one is to intimidate the attacker like bruce lee did to avoid a kick and at the same time putting some knee contact or something and then just using leverage to rotate the opponent onto the floor (im guessing?)

baji has a lot of takedowns, but in practice and forms, there is no real wrestling kinda grapling like shuai jiao or judo. This is not a baji demo. i think the poster was a little confused.

Im sorry to say, but from the one full speed thing they did, I personaly think that judo is a better grappling martial art.

Mostly because it has more effective counters to the grapples (the head locks) and starting strikes they were doing, and their is more controll over the opponent as they hit the ground.

Just for example to break the head lock, all you really need to do is get pure back to back contact, and do an ippon saionage (single arm sholder throw)
