Homeowners are more often than not simple idiots who believe that their neighbors really want to serve on the Board for free. The truth is while the few may want to do so in good faith, usually he (or she) who volunteers to do the most work on the BOD is doing so only with intent of bringing in their contractors so to collect hefty kickbacks, under the table.
If you ever wondered, that’s why all the bills are usually double and triple of what the real market cost is.
I believe most of you did it to your selves. You paid for every one else lawyer but you did not get your own because every time you mention getting one they told you we had one that prepared the contracts and you don’t need one it was done right.
Any mention of HOA was done as the real state agent was walking away and mumbled. Or said it very tolerant HOA. Not only not getting a lawyer you did not read the contract. You expect the gov to protect you. And yet you want the gov out of your every day lives.
Most HOA's are 'Concentration Camps' governed by secretive Boards who are want-a-be Wardens, Drill Sargents & Enforcement Lieutenants who originally wanted you join their clicks. However, once you Challenge their Authority, Voice a Concern or want to Audit the Books they oppress, harass, intimidate, threaten to harm you and generally make the HOA environment a living Hell, until the day you & your family decide you've had enough & either file a lawsuit against them or Move Out

HOAs are tin pot tyrannys. Americans have become too stupid to understand that you DONT give away your rights for ANYTHING!
And like a deal with the devil, it winds up ruining your life anyway.
