@neiallswheel Glass is inert to just about everything, so it's handy to have around and copper is inexpensive/easy to use. I think it just comes down to what they have on hand for something this simple.
ie why get specific equipment when your copper tube and glass work fine?
@chris305baller Scientists use Celcius or more precisely Kelvin, which is just the celcius scale moved so zero is the absolute zero-point of temperature. Fahrenheit is an outdated and spectacularly impractical measurement of temperature, only used in a few countries, like the USA or sometimes in Britain.
@JoachimVR The UK use Celsius. It is named after the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius, 0 °C is defined as the freezing point of water and 100 °C is defined as the boiling point of water.
its Just an easier/more practical way of reading temperature
@JoachimVR ..are you from the US because if you were then you would know that fahrenheit is what we grow up with. Hows it impractical because we use it correctly all the time.
@nartofan19 thats because steam has a LOT of potential energy in it, along with kinetic. When u change steam to water, you have to add a ton of kilojoules to change it,
I'm old enough to remember when they made real wooden matches.

WHY DOES EVERY NUMBSKULL USE NON-HELPFUL materials (copper & glass) to heat water/steam.
do think pressure would help this process?
stainless steel has nickel which aids water splitting. #just sayin

GuitarPlayersRule007 4 months ago
@GuitarPlayersRule007 You're wrong. The boiling point is 100C. 32 Celsius is only 89F.
