Hopefully ME3 won't have anything like that or the dune buggy thing to distract from everything else that is totally awesome and will therefor be the ultimate Mass Effect experience, though of course some will complain that there's too much action and that having a completely optional multi-player mode totally ruins it, or some crap.

Honestly, I loved Mass Effect 2, but his complaints are valid. Planet Scanning is boring. I wanted to claw everyone on the Normandy's eyes out.

Geee Storm, don't know how you can complain when Mass Effect 2 made game of the year on IGN and several other gaming sites. I've beaten Mass Effect twice and if you do scan planets, you don't scan planets that say poor because there is barely anything there, Don't waste your time with Poor, moderate or depleted, stick to rich and good planets. It took me 45 hours of pure fun doing absolutely everything in that game. It may be all about recruiting but all of those missions are awesome.Just my say

Perhaps Uncharted ruined me, but I played the demo for Mass Effect 2, and I despise the combat. It just feels so slow & clunky. Your character walks really slow, you have to hold down X to run (which is A on the Xbox 360 controller), you cannot roll, and I only found the cover system to work on a few specific walls.

I admit that I'm a bit biased since I'm not a big fan of RPG's, but there is very little about the combat, from what I noticed, that Gears & Uncharted don't do A LOT better.

@gamingrocks100 Sorry, when I said, "Gears & Uncharted", I might've sounded pretty biased. But I just didn't notice very much that hasn't been done before by other TPS's. Perhaps this game just isn't for me; I would recommend it to people who absolutely love both RPG's & TPS's. Because that's pretty much what the gameplay is; a mix of role-playing & third-person shooting.

I was unable to play the first Mass Effect because I don't own a Windows computer or an XBox 360, but I plan to get Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 if it turns out to be a good port.

I'm just wondering this:

Do I have to play the first Mass Effect in order to understand the basic plot of Mass Effect 2? Will I be totally lost if I only play Mass Effect 2 without playing the first Mass Effect?

If so, and if the PS3 port is considered greatly inferior, I'll just get Bioshock or Fallout 3.

@Hipstersinspace Nope, the PS3 version comes with an interactive comic of the first Mass Effect, uses an improved engine, and has slightly refined mini-games. Plus, thanks to Blu-Ray, the entire game fits on one disc, and the DLC from the 360 version is already included on the PS3 disc.

I'd recommend trying the demo first, though. It proved to be a wise decision for me. I didn't particularly like the combat.

Storm, i think you played the games at the wrong time.

A year before around apr. i got flu so i tried to play something. But in this time of the year is a dead zone for good games. So i tried this mass something because it had 9. something somewhere. Again i was sick. But it was a nice game to play. Yeah i know i was sick :) This year i got the flu again, so i played ME2. I think i now what will be next year around april.

So my advice: if you are ill and home for a week. Play ME. :)
