  • after will ferrell left this show sucked

  • 1986-1989: The true golden years of SNL! It was still funny from '90 - '92, but it started it's decline as the newer cast members began to take over, in my opinion.

  • The golden age of SNL. The show stopped being funny when Jimmy Fallon became the primary headliner.

  • little known fact, boys actually used to be called girl-boys or knave girls

  • ...with a big ol' girl vagina!

  • 19 people are girlboys with big ol' girl vaginas

  • God I used to laugh so much back then

  • Man! I really miss Phil Hartman...he was sooo funny!!

  • A colored boy ,a jewboy and a puerto rican boy on the bottom at 2:19 at the end

  • I agree,SNL was truely hilarious back then.Today it is a sorry version of what it used to be

  • SNL 88-95. Untouchable.

  • is that guy in the middle the guy from zombieland?

  • @ThePeanutShark yes,it's Woody Harrelson.

  • maybe.

  • @ThePeanutShark yes

  • Hilarious stuff.

  • lol, this is great!

  • 19 people aren't cowboys

  • Anyone know where to find the recurring characters skit making fun of 'we are the world'??

  • Seriously - who are the fags that keep disliking this?

    Explain yourselves

  • 17 people are sissy boys who like clothes

  • Phil Hartman was the shit...

  • Those were the days... Classic SNL!!! Rip Phil.

  • Politically correctness = the destruction of good comedy

  • RIP Phil. You were one of the funniest dudes I ever saw.

  • Woody,,,Cowboy way...LOL!

  • I watch this and come to my own personal realization that SNL doesn't exist anymore.

  • Just wanted to point out, in the sensitve world we're currently in -

If anyone other than a bigoted redneck is offended, then that person doesn't get the joke. Not saying that everyone whom gets the joke will think it is really funny, because not everyone has the same 'funny bone', but that person won't find it offensive, because they understood what the joke is.

I didn't realize before how good these three gentlemen could sing or maybe I'd forgotten, but to me, this is funny. I miss Phil.

  • hahahahahahahahaha, man I miss phil hartman

  • sorry....my bad!! ;>)

  • I believe he was shot dead by his wife out by their pool....RIP

  • The campaign to get Phil Hartman onto the Canadian and Hollywood Walks of Fame in 2011 has been launched on Facebook. Check out the Phil Hartman for Walk of Fame page, post your comments or favorite memories of Phil. A link is also provided to the Canada's Walk of Fame site where all Phil's fans can vote for him, no matter where they are in the world. Phil's family is participating in this great event for this great actor and wonderful man! We hope to see you all there, too! Thanks and enjoy!

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha dude

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • a lil 'racist eh?

  • @alexk307 its funny why take it there

  • @MSPLASTICME That sounds like something a racist would say

  • @alexk307 your Brainwashed....open....your...mind...open... your....mind

  • @MSPLASTICME Your a fag...Suck..my...dick... you...little...bitch

  • phil hartman was the fukkin` greatest, god rest him!

  • Anybody notice how Phil Hartman totally looks like he could be from a 1950's western show? Perfect face for it

  • @Mirlynne Yeah, he played John Wayne on SNL a bunch of times.

  • A cartoon that Phil Hartman created back in the '70s is now in the works by Phil's brother, Paul and his friend, John Paragon! Check out "The Secret World of Edgar Screw Head" on Facebook! You can contribute and have a lot of fun with the page! Also, Google "The Secret World of Edgar Screw Head" to check out the new live site, which is also in the works! Hope to see you there! It'll be awesome to have Phil's work back in production!

  • Phil Hartmann's facial expressions are gold.

  • as soon as i heard "clothes" and "Jew boy" i automatically guessed he'd rhyme it with "nose". haha does that mean im racist?

  • Matt Greoning from the simpsons was considering a Troy Mcluer movie

  • Man, I miss Phil. ;__;

  • LMFAO! This was great and they harmonize pretty good together too!

  • SNL was so well written back then that they could make a musical sketch about racist, white power cowboys funny rather than offensive... ok maybe both but I love it.

  • big jew boy noise hahah lmao good old phil to bad hiswife shot him

  • Wow I would have never known it watching this as a kid, but the Liberal propaganda was alive and kicking even then. So white people (I'm not one of) can't have anything to identify their roots with? Cowboy = Racist ??? Funny thing is, I don't hear this much from my black friends...it's usually faggot liberal white guys who for some reason feel the need to hover over everyone else and point out the injustices of the world. Guarantee all of these guys on here says the word nig--- daily -phil..

  • The true comedy of this has to be in the era also. Think about it: Woody Harrelson was "Woody" from Cheers. We knew him as modest, humble and shy. This clip is more than the skit. :)

  • atleast im not a girlboy with a big old girl vagina!

  • Man back when SNL was actually funny!!! Dana Carvey is so amazing hahaha Damn but this is funny!!

  • im tryin 2 find ths one cowboy skit where dude kept singing thru the whole show cant remember if it was mad tv or snl shit was hella funny

  • 1989

  • looooooool

  • Woody Harrelson is a GOD! love him

  • I'm only 14 and me and me best friends watch SNL almst every week and most of the stuff is pretty funny....but when I watch these old sketches I always wish Dana Carvey would host the show or somthing just once cuz hes hilarious!!!!!!!!church Lady is AWESOME!!!

  • @sterlingheartstacos

This is possibly the sweetest comment I have ever seen on youtube. *sigh* If you like this, why not start at the very beginning of SNL and work your way forward (you can Netflix or rent all of it!). You won't be disappointed! PS - the Phil Hartman/Dana Carvey/Jan Hooks era was that of my youth, and I will alwaus have a soft spot in my heart for the Church Lady :D

  • SNL sure isn't what it used to be. I started watching in in 1990 when I was 13 and today's episodes definitely pale in comparison. I remember seeing this sketch for the first time in '92 and laughed my ass off. Other notable sketches I loved including Charles Barkley's monologue where he (literally) kicks Barney the dinosaur's ass in a basket ball game. lol Loved the ''Deep Thoughts' with Jack Handey segments. Dana Carvey's 'Church Lady', and.....there's way too many to mention. ;)

  • @tmlfan1977 I remember Barkley beating up Barney like it was yesterday!

  • White people. - SMH

  • u might be thinking of the one with garth brooks. u couldnt get away with this now.

  • Has anyone else ever seen the other cowboy skit? It was one of my favorite SNL skits of all time, and I can't find it anywhere. It didn't have Woody in it. They sing about how they're going to be better cowboys.

  • @reinforcedpenisstem you a fucking idiot to think that SNL of The Present Will Ever Be Better Than the SNL era Of HARTMAN!

  • @johnathanjericho Yeah well I never said I thought that anyway. But thanks for the benefit of the doubt.

  • @johnathanjericho you don't need to be rude. there are some that would think you were an idiot because you think snl during phil hartman was funny. they would think that anything other than the the first five years was garbage and they'd be wrong. every era of snl has something to contribute and don't you forget it!

from someone that has watched the show for 35 years and loved it all. even the 1980 season.

  • RIP Phil.

  • When Saturday Night live was actually funny.

  • @PanjoVaracha - Yeah. Now SNL is a bad high school play.

  • @PanjoVaracha Now it's "people getting punched" that passes as comedy.

  • I found a pussy!

  • RIP Phil.

    We miss you.

  • @the82spartans True that.

  • this is SO funny. love it :)

  • Classic!!! Garrison Keillor should sing this on the next Prairie Home Companion.

  • The harmonies are actually pretty good here. I knew Dana was a tenor from his standup, but I didn't know his voice was that high.

Yeah, and it's funny too. And I actually am a liberal. We're not all uptight about political correctness.

  • they did this skit when rob morrow was the guest and it was equally as funny, has anyone seen any more of these skits?

  • what year was this and can anyone suggest some more snl to search. i'm from uk and love watching these sketches although some of it is lost in translation, really like the songs so if anyone knows any classics on here reply to me. cheers people.

  • This was from 1992.

  • If you are looking for a good sketch, search "Threw It On the Ground". It is a new sketch that came out just this year, but an instant classic. Even if you are British you should find it funny.

Also, depending on the type of comedy you like, one of my favorites is "People Getting Hit Before Eating".

  • my personal favorite is "bad idea jeans." try "the judy miller show." oh, and on hulu, look up, "not gonna phone it in tonight." it's very funny. it's a song by steve martin. hope you like them!

  • lol yeah....bad idea jeans...i remember......so classic...that label on the ass....theres some new sketch where a couple are on a date.......and the girl participates in the conversation ...where every sentence is like a recording from an answering service......ha wish i could fing it....

  • tell me about it. So tired of the spineless liberals ramming political correctness down our throats.

  • @christopherduke

LOL. Good one. What kind of people do you think write the SNL skits? They may do more of this kind of skit now than ever.

  • Comment removed

  • badass woody harrelson

  • Can't JOKE around like this anymore---WAYYY too many sensitive SISSY boys these days !

  • You can't joke around like this if you're WHITE.

Carlos Mencia can do it, Def Comedy Jam can do it.

But in the mind of most idiots, only white people can be racists.

  • So true. I say fuck it. Freedom of speech.

  • Yeah, it sucks to be a white man, doesn't it? NOTHING seems to go our way (:

If only we could say "nigger" without catching hell for it. Imagine the possibilties.

  • @MrLuigiVampa When have you ever caught hell for it? I wouldn't bother restraining your ignorance in public. Let the world see you for what you really are. You're not a coward, are you? (:

  • awesome

  • I loved this sketch the first time it aired, haven't seen it since then until now, Woody is still a hoot and turn on!

  • AWSOME

  • i'm glad that i'm not any of those things either : D

  • I like :)

  • holy shit thats soooooo funny man woooo

  • They did another sketch as these characters where they sang "We're Three Very Lonesome Cowboys"...it's Brokeback all over again. If the uploader has this one....PLEASE post it!!!

  • sooo very racist lol

  • good old school snl, love dana carvey and i miss phil hartman, funny stuff!

  • Dana Carvey has a lovely tenor voice. I hope I'll get to see him live someday! =D

  • wow that was EPIC :D

  • I'm glad Woody was in this one, lmao!

  • You just don't see work of this caliber on SNL any more, but I guess you can't reinvent the wheel.

  • SNL will rise again, like it always does, it limps along for years and then it really goes out of sight, then it limps along again for years and then it comes back, kind of like a solar eclipse, they let it limp along hoping it will soar one day again.

  • I miss the good ole days of SNL.

  • I friggen love woody harrelson, how old is this?

  • Phil Hartman could have been so successful. R,I.P Phil.

  • he was very successful but you're right

  • I know he was, but he could have been even bigger. When he died, he was basically a popular character actor. As great as he was, it is sad he never got a chance to move past the 'Troy McClures" , "Lionell Hutzes" or the "Caveman Lawyer" personas. (He was wonderful at those don't get me wrong.) He could have recieved top billing on something. It would have been great.

  • I love this skit...my favorite of all time. Funny stuff!...gotta love these cowboys!

  • he makes a very good cowboy lol

  • If Chris Rock and buddies had done this, it would be hailed as "Edgy" "Urban" or some such by the mainstream media and reviewers. You could (as mentioned below) substitute members of Congress "Black Caucus" and other assorted liberals as REAL examples by reprinting their speeches and comments. Yippy-Cay-Yay!!!

  • maybe trent lott for example

  • Hilarious!!!

  • Phil Hartman would have made a good Marlboro man

  • lolz soo funi

  • Phil Hartman + Dana Carvey = SNL's Saving Grace.

  • Love that skit!!!! I bet with all the "politically correct" people these days that would have never played on a SNL show now. Sad but true!

  • Anybody have the "People who've ruined it for the rest of us" skit? I think it was a Phil Hartman written sketch.

  • The "everyone's a little racist" video you're thinking of might be the one from Avenue Q

  • wasn't there a skit about like people dressed as martin luther king and george washington, and like they were singing how everyones a little racist haha, a friend was telling me that, i'm looking for it but i see no results for it...

  • Wow, reminiscent of blazing saddles hardcore. Brings back fond memories of sitting on daddy's lap and watching spaghetti westerns too. XD

  • holly! i was born that year :O

SNL was funny bad then as well! xD

  • Dana Carvey has a really nice singing voice!

  • big ol girl vagina! lol!!!

  • check out dave chappelle's(spelling) Matrix

  • Just a different time my friend..but Im glad you know how you feel...Amen to choice!!

  • when was this made?

  • I love all the snl cowboy songs! I'd pay money for the whole collection.... but nowhere to be found

  • Does anyone have Phil Hartman singing snl country music commercial. "oh i just found a fifty dollar bill"?

p.s. This one was funny too.

  • that was john laroquette

    as "vernon hauley jr."!!

  • The one where he sings "I'm Drunk...again?" I've been looking for that one too.

  • I loved this skit. Too funny Yippee ki yi yi yippee ki yo

  • Ehhh, I don't know, I think they could still get away with this. If South Park can use the "N" word and fall back on the "it's a statement on today's social norms", why couldn't SNL?

  • true

  • this should be aired as one of the best snl skits of all times...who cares bout the people who dont like there words just change the channel

  • saturday night live is aswome

  • Ahaha great!! If that was today Al Sharpton would be screaming "Thats a racial injustice!!!"

  • this is so funny

  • "A Chinese boy from China". XD RIP Phil Hartman!

  • i love freedom of speech as people should be able to express their true feelings no matter how shocking they may be and if someone does not agree that is their right too but let freedom ring.

  • when it comes to comedy the PC poilce should stay away and anyone else who dosent have a sense of humour. my view is when it comes to comedy, anything should go because at the end of the day it isnt real

  • Thank you for your intelligent comment. Too bad so many people don't understand that these guys aren't racists. It's a comedy SKIT. "Poor taste?" Yeah, but that's what made Saturday Night Live so great for 30+ years! It *IS* irreverent, outrageous and decidedly UN-"PC"-- no race, creed, religion, gender, political party, etc. is exempt from being skewered at any given moment.

Those who couldn't (or don't) see the humor in it should just change the channel (or don't watch SNL videos)...

  • hey I am a foreigner and I get it (and love it). completely agreed CityofDreadfulDelite!

  • wow times have changed

  • We're not allowed to do this anymore. The Hate police have outlawed it as "Hate speech".

  • I've never seen this one before. It's beautiful. Dana Carvey rocks my socks!

  • This is could never be done today!

  • They are really great singers! And it's a really funny song!

I love Dana Carvey's harmony, he has a lovely voice!

  • Good Lord! Funny stuff, but I bet they got some letters afterward as well...
