  • elementary my dear jason!!

  • Jason Is an Exceelent Drummer.

  • He can actually play One better than Lars :D

  • If everyone here thinks he is so-so then why are you watching this and not making millions of dollars like him and not headling Guitar Center's drum off?

  • this is so shit, jason bittner is such an ordinary drummer, theres nothing special about what he brings to the drum kit.

  • @chiefofsparta hey Chief, why arent you a famous metal drummer? oooh wait you dont play judging by your channel. how lon... oh wait you dont play right so i cant really ask how long youve played. my bad.

  • We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister

Run To The Hills - Iron Maiden

    One - Metallica

    Tom Sawyer - Rush

  • and tom sawyer

    rush

  • run to the hills, one, a few shadows fall songs:)

  • shows were he gets his inflneces from ;)

  • Jason is very inspirational but as rgvhen said, I could probably do all of what he did in this video. Where as I'm still coming to grips with jazz and funk.

  • so you can do ambidextrious blast beats for at lest three (3) bars. i dont believe that

how long have you been drumming?

  • That was GREAT - Jason you got it dude

  • He is very good at what he does!!! I DON´T think anyone can say otherwise!!! And if you do, then you are just jelaous!!! Period!!!

  • wow, he starting to inspire me to play DOUBLE bass lol

  • These rock drummers are solid in what they do. They're just not very musical with the kit. Give him a 4 piece single pedal, then play!

People like Buddy Rich and Joe Morello are true masters of the craft. You can argue this is just personal preference, but many great drummers will say the same thing.

There are alot of drummers in that audience who can probably get up there and emulate most of that. Rock drumming takes less intellect, coordination, & limb independence than other styles.

  • actually, thats been done, Jason played on a lil 4 piece a few years ago at NAMM, he was pretty good, he got a nice lil groove happening ^^

  • All that you said is generally true, but you have to be careful not to throw the baby (Roddy, Kollias, Jarzombek, Haake) out with the bathwater.

  • im not so sure about that last part but as 4 the rest youre absolutely right.

  • 7:53 - 8:00 Run to the Hills

    8:06 - 8:15 One

    8:55 - 9:08 Tom Sawyer

    Nice Job

  • 7:45 - 7:53 Were Not Gonna Take It lol.. thought id add that

  • thanks i forgot 2 add that

  • DAM He iS A Epic Drummer as Long With Chris Adler from lamb of god!

  • what... ever ?

  • Comment removed

  • bittner is an awesome drummer, and he clearly has his chops together, but this isn't a very good solo. His has amazing skill though, a really great drummer.

  • I love how he adds in other peoples beats towards the end

  • Sorry not very musical or intricate or interesting.Take a listen to Simon Phillips for a very musical drummer with monster chops

  • lets see him play half of jasons shit as well as he did asshole

  • Are those 24" kicks?

They look a tad bit bigger than my 22's lol.

  • and at 8:30 it sounds like pull harder of the strings of ur martyr by trivium

  • is he playing One at 8:07, or am i just imagining things?

  • run to the hills just before 8

  • yes yes he is you can tell that beat a mile away

  • at like 7:50 it sounds like hey mickey

  • meinl cymbals^^ xD

  • he has loads of fuckin cymbals

  • And notice they're close together. Having your equipment closer helps A LOT with your speed and control. No matter how some "drummers" think it looks AWESOME to have your equipment so far away to reach out and look cool. It'll fuck you up when you least expect it... Believe me... Lol.

  • the sound is bad try to the solo of the drummer festival

  • He's good..but after seeing the 12 year old Tony Royster do his solo....I'm truly divided in my choice(s)....that kid(Royster)can kick skins...no offence to Bittner...but this kid's gonna catch him(if he hasn't already)..:)

  • lol that kid aint 12 any more try like 19

  • He's about 23 now actually, and a fuckin virtuoso in his own right

  • if your saying hes 23 years old you are 13 years off

  • I meant Tony Royster Junior. Bittner is about 37 or 38 to my knowledge

  • very uninspiring, nothing too amazing...heard a lot about him but he doesnt impress me at all really.

  • lol. i never said you said that they weren't good. haha

  • much like joey lol. but still gotta admit they're pretty damn good. some are good soloists, some aren't. that's a fact.

  • No offense, but that was hardly a solo IMO, I mean he's probably way better than that, but that sounds like someone just screwing around, pretty boring.

  • i know! where's the groove?!

  • ah well i guess if i waited a little longer i would have heard it, but still i know what you mean.

  • yah mann

  • ...wow...

  • At Like 7:54, he starts playing Run to the Hills and at 8:07, he starts playing One.

  • haha i like it !!! =D

  • he repeats a lot of his material within this video and another drum festival clip ive seen, overall hes good

  • Im not really a big fan of Jason Bittners solo stuff...but i think hes an awesome writer for the music in Shadows fall.

  • I personally agree as well

  • yea i would agrre with that. in my opinion he is the metal drummer. like his chops are wat u think of when u think of metal. their are other drummers u play metal, but on a different level, a higher one, but this guy either way is solid

  • IMHO his double kick technique is textbook stuff!

alot of people do unorthodox stuff with their feet in order to be able to play some double bass licks (e.g. chris adler with ruin)

but jason seems to keep his technique the same whether hes playing 10 bpm or 200

    :) its awesome

  • wats the technique for that, when i started playing dbl bass, i could ace the fast shit, and i think it has fallen off, and im completely self taught (16 years old) so what is the technique, i use heel up

  • I dunno, but i wish i could do it.

  • I agree...

  • i heard some Iron Maiden somewhere. run for the hills intro

  • kai gamo tous drumers!!!

  • i like his style , and hes one of my many influences , im stuck here in iraq without knowin any drummers here , im all alone , check out my vids and tell me what u think .. thnx a lot

  • 8:06.

That's "One" and theres no denying it.

  • not every set of six sixteenth note triplets (followed by a quarter) sounds like "one".

yes, that is the rhythm that Lars Ulrich used in part of that song, but that doesn't make it 'his' anymore than playing that rhythm makes me a thief. and by me i mean Jason Bittner.

  • his solo's are not getting that great like he used to do them.

  • and speed without technique means nothing

  • @mekifeki where's your video with perfect technique and speed? Dont have one do ya....then stfu troll

  • @Cboisen10 Inferno plays extremely fast, but all of his grooves are in sections of a pattern.

Because he's going so fast instead of playing a tom as an accent note he plays a pattern in the same time that a jazz player would have just hit the tom. Does this make a fast drummer better?

Not really, but it is more metal and a great display of technical speed.

  • Berzerker drummer yeah he is just fast but jason has more than that

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that "The End of Heartache" by Killswitch Engage at 8:37??

  • haha yeh it is ... on steroids :P

exactly the same beat played alot faster haha

not sure if it would be intentional or... coincidence

    but nice

  • COOL

  • Brilhant drummer!!!

Very fast, very all!!!This is the real MODERN DRUMMER!!!!Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!

    Jason fuckin awesome Bittner!!!

    \o/...

  • 4:18

    holy shit thats fast!!!

  • noooo, that wasnt fast...ive seen fast n that was not fast.....check out the drummer of The Berzerker

  • at 49 seconds it sounds like fireball by deep purple

  • He only uses his 16" mb10 once :O?

  • this is a real solo. this is absolutely amazing.....

  • the energizer bunny is better than joey jordison. and jason is better than both of them lol

  • im a massive metal fan and i think shadows fall are o.k but jason is the balls!

  • Sweet!!! I love the Pantera (Domination) beat at 8:10! Jason Bittner is the Man!

    -Vinny

  • Your a retard at 8:10 that was one by metallica.

  • Your smack on the money with that one it is indeed "One" by metallica at 8:10 but no one seems to spot a shout out to Niko Mcbrain from Maiden, one of Jason's biggest influences at around 7:53 where he plays the intro for "Run To The Hills"

Just a tip for all Drummers out there stop with all the aggro comments about eachother and arguments about whos better, its all personal opinion.

    Drummers stick together bro's!!

  • thats right drummers stick together

  • i heard it, but kinda thought it was too obvious to point out.

  • i heard it, but kinda thought it was too obvious to point out.

  • i heard it, but kinda thought it was too obvious to point out.

  • does he play the tom sawyer fill at the end of the solo

  • joey jordinson isnt better hes just well known so everyone thinks hes amazing........jasons better

  • agreed, joey only has speed, no style. ill take jason, and danny carey any day

  • damn. i saw his solo live last week. it was so cool. everyone's loved it. jason bittner rocked the house.

  • over my dead body man joey jordison comes second to this guy definitely hes fucking INSANE

  • fucking awesome......

  • alll i have to say is wow

  • how fast do u think he is going on the bass drums?

  • its jason bittner....who the hell knos?

  • ANy one recognise the beats of twisted sister and ironm maiden between 7.45 and 8.00 ??!?

  • yeah...i think he was doing that on purpose. notice the people cheering when he started the "run to the hills" beat

  • that was not very impressive, i dont like it.

  • Lets see you do it then.

  • 8:07-8:16 I do believe he got that off the song One by Metallica.

  • i would have to agree

  • I don't know if he meant to, but yeah that's the beat.

  • i think he probably meant to. he was playing the beat off "run to the hills" by iron maiden a few seconds before that, and the people watching recognized that beat and cheered

  • Stop comparing Joey Jordison to everybody. Jason Bittner is way better than JJ.

  • I love how some dumb fucks say Bittner lacks technique. The guy was classically trained at Berklee College of Music in Boston!! Listen to the rhythm not the fucking speed you dolts. And to the idiot from 4 fucking moths ago....this ISN'T just a solo. Its a master class for DRUMMERS. Joey couldn't handle that - hence you don't see him doing one on YouTube.

  • hat xactly is a masters class?

  • *what, srry

  • A place usually at a music shop where a drummer comes in to teach lessons and whatnot. Usually it can be by invite only or you pay a ton of cash to get in. Either way, usually only accomplished drummers teach the shit.

  • I agree with everything you said i'm a Berklee student myself as of now and your right speed doesn't matter as much as rhythm, dynamics and feel and jason has all of these plus more.

  • Jason Bittner kicks ass!!!

  • But he shows that a good drummer needn't

depend on a great drumset. And also

Superstar Custom is a good Drumkit

  • oh jesus fucking christ... im sick of people say how good joey is... sure hes good but not that great... if you want skill check out virgil donati, or chad wackerman... and the rev... wtf... p.s. im a big fan of joey but .. yea

  • Jordison is not all that good, and the rev straight ups sucks. Peart is amazing.

  • hardout man

  • in my own opion, jason bittner is really good at drums but he solos are kind of shaking not what they could be, its kind of like he is slowing his solos down. And dont be a bitch and comment be back with fucken dumb shit like then you play it because nobody really wants to hear that shit serioulsy

  • jason is definatlly my favorite metal drummer i like all of the different generas he covers in this solo and i didnt realise hees as fast as he is

  • chris adler plays on mapex

  • I thought he played on Mapex, not TAMA? Or am I thinking of Chris Adler?

  • Jason is my favorite drummer. He is a huge inspiration and made me stick to drumming.

I feel he is the best metal drummer right now. He's very technical and well rounded in speed.

  • Jason Bittner is a example of turning drumming into a sport.

  • jason u're fucking awesome and u're the best drummer in the world!!!!!!!

  • my favourite drummer :)

  • Jason is The Best metal drummer in the world.

Saw him in The Black Crusade Helsinki, and my mouth is still open...

    <3

  • he plays several parts from his old solos from the meinl videos and he plays iron maiden and metallica drum bits too!. Jason is a good drummer technically, but he doesn't seem to fulfill his potential, so his drum solos and drumming in shadows fall seems to be a bit stale.

i realise some people might get pissed at this, but it is only my opinion, and please don't write back saying "you can't do any better you fuck" or some shit like that. anyway Merry christmas everyone.

  • cheers to jason bittner

  • monster !

  • Fucking master!

  • all metal; drummers are good

  • Amazing drummer, definetely strong point of shadows fall. (not saying that the rest of them are bad)

  • JASON BITTNER I LOVE YOU!!!

  • Yeah... that was kind of weird.

  • WTH?!

he plays all that kick ass stuff

then when he plays the easiest beat in the world (run to the hills - iron maiden)

they all go WEEYYY!! and start cheering!

    strange people

    BITTNER RULES! \m/

  • and... one (metallica) and We're Not Gonna Take It (Twisted Sister)xdxd

Jason bithner, the drummer fucking master!!!

  • I like that remix at 4:12 of his '05 modern drummer solo part.

  • AWESOME!

  • If you like quick double bass, check Tim Yeung (Divine Heresy, ex Hate Eternal) : 872 beats/minute.

  • Fastest double bass...hmmm...I'm handing that title to Travis Smith of Trivium he was proclaimed "The Sickest feet in Metal" in a drum magazine

  • And that means it's true? Lol.

Lots of drummers ---> Travis Smith.

  • i liked the parts at the end where he threw in beats from twisted sister, metallica, iron maiden and rush....that was awesome

  • I think Jason Bittner is underrated the same thing with Charlie Benante from Anthrax,....those guys are incredible good Drummers and they are inspiaring to me.Joey Jordison, is one of the! fastest Double-Bass Drummers i have ever heard, and his style is very fresh and sticks awesome to the Music of Slipknot and Korn, but i heard a lot of solos from him and i don't think that he is a good solo drummer :(......anyway thanxs for uploading awesome vid!

  • The only solo Jordison ever did consisted of drum rolls spread out over different drums. He's a great drummer, but if he was as great as you say he is then he could have easily come up with something better for his only solo.

  • lol, "the best", rofl, Joey Jordison has him beat hands down, sure jason has some speed but his style and technique is lacking 10 fold compared to Joey, joey is hands down the most talented drummer in metal today, joey jordison doesnt do solos cause he doesnt flaunt his ability, only solo was the one on the tour

  • ahaha joey jordison is nothing without his trigger, don't tell shit

  • joey jordison doesn't trigger....

  • u may think theres faster double kicks out there but what it all comes down to is that bittner is the best controlled drummer i have ever seen

  • just about pro drummer is the best controlled drummer lol

  • really????

  • triggers dont make you faster they just bring out the sound in the bass drum

  • hahaha thats funny theres no way in hell joey can match this guys skills slipknot was my fav band for years and i think he cant match jason's skills hes a god at drumming his technical skills are amazing and to the guy who said travis smith has the sickest feet of metal obviously hasnt heard behemoth or nile...

  • rhe best? i dont think^^ he have speed really good but need more technique even if he is good too

  • this is the best drummer in "metal" today! abd I'm going to see him play this friday!!!!!!!!

  • Jason Bittner is an amazing drummer and artist.
