  • Very useful tips, thanks for sharing :) I'll try it with my Karmin Professional Titanium Flat Iron it works very good. I bought it at myhairstylingtools. Thanks :)

  • you relaxed ur hair?

  • If you want a professional flat iron and you are ok with spending around $140 I would highly recommend the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it heats up to 450f with temperature control, dual voltage, tourmaline ceramic plates with rounded edges which makes it great for also curling your hair. Also has a 3 year warranty. If you do look at other irons make sure to stay away from irons with painted plates (colored plates) these can damage your hair.

    I hope this helps.

  • lol i think you covered your hair history in the descriptions very well. too cute. good job on hair.

  • lol i think you coveedr your hair history in the descriptions very well. too cute. good job on hair.

  • thanks for you tips and info

  • WOW I love ur hair so long and shiney.

  • excuse moi.

but how many degrees is the flat iron.

    please answer me!! :D

  • The Sedu flat iron ranges from 250 degrees to 410 degrees.

  • ur hair really amazing :)

  • LoL...Im glad I read the more info section because I most certainly thought that you were biracial. You're hair is beautiful!

  • Thanks for all the info !! ... i think that its very interesting to know that u rnt bi-racial as they have european and black hair traits, but you prove that black hair can grow long - if you take care of it well - which is something that i think alot of young black girls such as myself were fooled into thinking otherwise ...awesome video...and lovely hair :)

  • what is the name of the song thats playing?

  • i luv ur hair i wish mi hair waz lik dat

  • this is ur hair just blow dried out?

  • My hair is fine too and I'm so scared to flat iron my hair! But I just might try it after seein your vid..Thanks for sharing!

  • My hait is fine, too and I NEVER use heat on it. I just go to my TRUSTED stylist and she has hair down her back!

So, yeah, it might be best to not put heat on your hair if it is anything like mine

  • Have you tried flat ironing your hair without anything in it? I keep hearing that the hair doesn't "smoke" "steam" or any of that stuff and reverts back nicely after straightening. I'm kinda scared to flat iron mine and since you do I was wondering if you know

  • i hate the music but great video

  • I love the music, and I feel the same way you do bout straight hair. I hate straight hair!... and I won't be straightening my hair anytime soon, so I hope no one asks me. That's one reason why I let my relaxer grow out and became Au Naturale... You look beautiful either way, curly or straight. Much love to you, Rashida

  • Your hair is beautiful!! I'm just starting my nartural hair journey so I'm researching the best products and learning how to properly straighten my hair. I watched your other video on Maxiglide and was wondering if you also had a review on the Instyler? I was trying to decide between the two

    Thanks for the great information!

  • This video is so informative. I've been natural for about 4 years. I've tried to straighten, but it just doesn't seem to want to straighten. I think I'll save this video just in case I get the urge to try again.

Your hair is beautiful. I'm glad I'm able to see others doing the natural thing. Video was very well done.

p.s. ignore the haters. There will always be haters. lol.

  • your hair is just beautiful. I've been letting my hair grow out for a while but I am having some trouble because Half is still my old relaxed hair. Do you think I should get it cut or just wait it out?

  • Thank you.

That's really up to you. I didn't really transition because I was not up to dealing with both textures. If you're not scared of short hair, do it. BUT if you want to keep your length, just treat your hair like silk. Experiment with curly/textured styles and wait. Good luck!

  • Your have gorgeous hair girl! I can not wait til i get where you are with my hair. It is amazing how fast our hair grows when we let go of the chemicals. I am going to have to find that flatiron (lol). I ordered the Maxiglide and was so so disappointed. Great vid!! :)

  • Thank you.

  • replace the "yes i am fat" with yes i have curves...dont give people the satisfaction of making you call yourself that...

  • I agree ^.^

  • I agree with her and by the way you are so beautiful!

  • Thank you. You are a doll.

  • Anyone can answer this for me.. How do I find out what hairtype I have?(4A??) And.. In order to go natural, do I have to chop off all my hair? Mine is as long as hers is now and I would hate to be bald.. Not a good look for me..

  • How long have you been natural? What tools did you use? How much was that flat iron? What is ur hair type? LOLOL GIRL IM KIDDING!!! I read the side bar, but it trips you out when ppl ask you those questions when you have already addressed them! You have beautiful hair! I love it!!

  • LOL!!

  • you have pretty hair. My hair is relaxed and even if I flat iron it, it still has a lot of growth at the top.

  • as in new growth ? i think you should take the flat iron from your root all the way to the ends. thats what i do when i have new growth and need to straighten it

  • Thank you. My hair was the same. I can get it straighter now than I could with a relaxer. (Not in this video though... LOL)

  • ur pic in the beginning is cute

  • Thank you!

  • that music is anoying

  • that music was so relaxing u hav no taste

  • I love the music! To each their own. Does anyone know who the artist is?

  • Alice Smith- Love Endeavor

Duke Ellington, John Coltrane- In a Sentimental Mood

  • Don't watch it or mute it.

    Simple. :D :P

  • OMG! Your hair is so pretty! if only I had hair like that....Sigh(:

  • Gorgeous makeup. Excellent handling of long, thick natural hair. Look forward to looking at all your videos.

  • You're hair is pretty.

  • when i straighten my hair it doesnt stay long .

anyway to make it stay for the whole day ?

  • Try a straighten shampoo/conditioner and a silicone based (gel-like) heat protectant. Then when you're done, use a glosser. That should help with frizz.

  • I think your mauve "smoky" eye makeup is beautiful.

  • Thank you!

  • ur really pretty :)

  • Thank you.

  • great job!!!!!made it look easy....

  • tks for the vid!

  • did you mention that your hair was shorter with the relaxer than with it natural?n

  • Yes. BUT I had hair when I was a child. I kept my hair cut when it was relaxed. I was growing it out when I chopped it off.

  • What brand is your eyeshadow and lipstick? I like the shade a lot. Thanks for the video. You have a much better speaking voice than some of these other ladies on here who share beauty tips.

  • LOL thanks about my voice. I used to get teased about it.

Eyeshadow is very likely MAC Fig 1 with a dark brown in the crease. The lips are probably Loreal Hip lipgloss in Darling.

  • o my this is a hostle comment zone but u wanted to say i love ur hair. ive been transitioning for 5 months and its so hard to manage cant wait till iget to where u are

  • howd u grow ur hair sooo long i cud neva get mine dat long :]

  • girl thank you i have long hair and cant fix it grrrrrrr

  • Very nicely done;the music, your speech, advice.

I especially appreciate the fact the video sped through the redundant parts.

    Your hair is beautiful

    Thanks.

  • she's all black, she answers a lot of questions in her description on the right.

  • ugh i hate you and your beautiful hair LOL im still to scared to like straighten my hair. im a very style-challenged natural lol

  • hi.

    i and bi-racial, blk/white.

anyway. i hav coil spring hair, which is apparently really fine and thin but looks very thick. it also has really dry ends if i wash it 2 much..

anyway. wen i str8in my hair i dont hav as much stuff in it and it usually acts bettr. lk. i can flip it in stead of brushin it in2 1 hair style and havin 2 keep it there. get wat i mean? lol

also. i use Chi str8nr (1") with Chi iron guard. holy moley. it works miracles. lol

  • I see that you use sedu flat iron and I was wondering if you had ever used a Chi flat iron, where I live everyone just raves about them

thanks so much for posting your flatiron tutorial it was much appreciated.

  • i have a similar kinky/curly, but fine hair texture. I have natural hair but it shrinks from shoulder length to ear length after being outside for 2 minutes lol. thanks for this vid.

  • your hair is beautiful!

  • Very nice tutorial -- thanks for the tips! You have beautiful hair, great length and I don't think you are fat! I will say that like many of us you probably have some mixed ancestry down the line because of your skin color and the apparent texture of your hair. (I say apparent since I'm not seeing it in person).

I didn't relax my hair for 5 years, but broke down because I had a summer wedding in hot, humid Houston, TX and didn't want to chance my hair shrinking on me by the end of the day!

  • oops!! ran out of characters!! :) I wanted to ask you if you use any kind of natural relaxer on your hair now since you don't use relaxers anymore??

  • No, I don't use anything to relax my hair. The only time I use anything but shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, oil and (stuff for my twists like pomades) is when I flat iron. And then it's only heat protectant.

  • can you do a video to show how you section your hair to be done in like 15 min bc it takes me an hour and a half..of course i have corse 4b type hair so...that could be it too...some tips plz :)

  • My hair was dirty so it was already pretty straight. It takes longer when it's freshly washed and blow dried. I'll post a new video in a couple of months.

  • Your hair is gorgeous..it reminds me of my hair. I am mixed with blk/puerto rican and my hair is also pretty fine, but still "black" hair. It breaks when the wind blows and requires a lot of heat for good effect. I have also stopped using no-lye/lye relaxers and use hair vitamins. My hair has grown almost 3 inches in 2 1/2 months. My hair is sooo much more healthy since I stopped using relaxers(abt 8 mo) I hope to have your length within the year. Your hair looked very nice after flat-ironing.

  • Just keep being gentle with it and patient. Even if you relax again, you just want to treat it like silk, especially if you want it to be healthy. I'm sure soon enough that you will have the desired length that you want. Just stay positive!!!

  • how do you make your hair so shiny? i have the same redken heat protectant but my hair is nowhere near that shiny.

  • It's the other crap that's in my hair. I flat ironed on "dirty hair" (two days after I washed) which isn't a good idea. I think I had olive oil in my hair.

  • ihave a good product that might intrested you, hit me up for more info.:]

  • could you tell me about it!

  • you're so pretty and i love your hair :)

  • Thank you!!!!

  • im 14 and have thick hair do you know any styles for my hair that will prevent breakage

  • I would say, use heat rarely. The more heat you use (flat irons, curling irons, blow drying) the weaker your hair will become. Try to find styles that don't require heat like creative buns, ponytails, braids, braid outs... When I relaxed, I would wash my hair, braid it, take the braids out the next day, put on a headband and go. It looked fly. (To me.) Also make sure you deep condition your hair every single time you wash.

  • hey.great video.

i have natural hair so i have to flat iron it or its just a wolly bush lol.

The thing is it causes me to get split ends.

Do you have any tips to avoid this?

    thanks.

  • I've always been a victim of split ends. My entire life! :) The best thing I do to combat it is oiling my ends every single night and every single morning. AND keeping my hair stretched in twist-outs. I still get them, but it's not as bad as it used to be.

  • how do you get your hair to stay straight? I have natural hair and a sedu. When I use it I get my hair very smooth and shiny, but within less than 2 minutes it starts waving up and turning poofy. I timed it. It does not last. I don't know if it's because I live on an island where it is humid.

  • Try a silicon based heat protectant like Frizz-Ease by John Frieda. Try to rollerset or blowdry (no higher than medium) first. You don't want to laod your hair with products, it will just make it limp, but you can also try Sabino Moisture Block. I hear it's excellent. Google it and order a sample. Good luck!

  • OMG ur hair is beautiful how do you get you hair to grow?

  • Thanks. I retain my hair by rarely using heat (I flat iron/blowdry maybe 4 times a year) and I am very gentle with my hair. I dust my ends (cutting off weak looking and split ends) and I don't trim/cut often. I also keep my routine simple and I wear buns and keep my hair up a lot.

  • damn... now i feel like i really abuse my hair cuz my flat iron also goes to 410 -- and i always use it on 410! oops!

  • If your hair can take it and you don't see any adverse effects keep doing it. Do what works for you, just make sure you use a heat protectant. I can't turn my iron all the way up, my hair breaks way too easily.

  • love it.

I have the same hair as you dude

    i know your struggle, hahaha

  • Can you bend down with out it staying in one place can you flip it

  • Yep. My hair has lots of movement, even in it's natural state.

  • You are such a gorgeous lady! Thanks so much for all your helpful videos. love the background music of Alice Smith!

  • omg bless you. i needed this video

i hack alotttt of hair..but its really long..but im black.german.french..but my ends get damamged when i straightne it..at the end

  • Are you using a heat protectant? This would help your ends when flat ironing and the overall hair.

  • what that?but naa i just use a conair and BAM!

    lol

  • Heat protectant. Today! Tresemme makes a nice one. Use it when your hair is still wet.

  • nobodys hair is alive chynawitch! hair is dead cells,but her hair is pretty;

  • You are beautiful, your hair is beautiful!!

    Great video :)

  • your really pretty! (:

  • thanks... this helped a lot. i have recently started washing and styling my hair myself instead of wasting money going to the salon every two weeks. thank you!

  • What kind of heat protectant did you use on your hair?

  • Redken Smoothdown Heatglide

  • wow funky thats really helpful cause im planning on straightening my hair in the next couple of days [Im 3 eights Jamacian, an eighth indian, 3 eights english and an eighth irish]

also i find it wierdly relaxing watching ppl do their hair lol.

  • I love "multi-cultural hair" It's sooo unique and no two heads are alike. :)

  • You're so pretty!

  • :) you're sweet.

  • oh wow i need to get one of those flat irons

  • Royale Professional Hair Iorn works the best for black natural hair. It doesnt split the ends no matter how much you flat iorn it, you also can flat iorn your hair wet! That is much better for black hair than blow drying it.

  • Your hair is very pretty. My hair has grown alot and is now down my back...I hate when people question my nationality because of it.Black people can have beautiful, thick, long hair 2!Anyway,cool vid!

  • i know right! i used to be that way to but i cut it. even then they question me too!

  • You are so gorgeous sweetie!

  • you're sweet, thank you.

  • that must take u aaaaaages

  • haha! no, not really. I don't have as much hair as it seems on the videos.

  • ur so pretty!

  • Thanks!

  • Hi. Liked ur video. Just out of sheer curiosity, who's music did u use on the video? Nother question-- what is your nationality?

  • Thanks!

    Music:

    *Alice Smith - Love Endeavor

*Duke Ellington, John Coltrane - In a Sentimental Mood

I'm black. American of African decent as are both of my parents and their parents.

  • You are so pretty, and I love your eyebrow arch.

  • yer beautiful!

  • she looks like queen latifah :)

  • That's a new one. Never heard that one before. Must be that fat and the skin color. hmmmm....

  • lol no its just your face and the expressions you do :P

  • LOL!

  • love this song whats da name of it?? thanks

  • Love Endeavor by Alice Smith

  • thank you girl..are you on myspace by chance...I wanted to chow you my hair...are you a hairdresser? Oh and what about the stove irons??Do you ever use those?

  • I'm on myspace. No, I'm not a cosmetologist, I have maybe 15 hours of cosmetology school. LOL! Most of what I learned or know is from reading and experimenting. As far as stove irons, I haven't had one near my head since 1996 or so. When I was relaxed. I don't have the proper technique to use one of those safely. I love the results though. Go to my page (my blog, you can see the link in my Youtube channel) and PM me your myspace page. I don't know my myspace name, I can't access it from work.

  • Your hair dies each time you striaghten it :[

  • Hair is not alive

  • You have beautiful hair. I think if you take smaller sections, the hair will be more sleek.

  • nice pose at end haha

    evil!

    good vid =]

    5 stars!!

    good tips thanks alot xx

  • LOL! Thanks!

  • it turned out gorgeous :] and ur gorgeous too.

  • yes! someone with my hair type

  • whats your hair type? 4a, 4b?

  • I don't like typing but technically it would be 4A all over.

  • the best flat iron is "ghd"

  • I have just about as much bounce as I can get for my type of hair. But trust me, it's not hard at all. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • also keeps hair cleaner longer, allowing follicle oil sebum to settle down the hair shaft. also straightens faster. inhibiting too many strokes and smoking. your hair under any weather circumstance will frizz less from humidity than overwhelming it with product. Ive been doing my own hair since i was 11. put my own perms and curled it. I went completely natural. cut off all perm and loving my black/spanish hair. friends reccomend me to do straightening for ppl who dont want salon prices.

  • wash with gentle shampoo. rinse and repeat trust. alot of ethnic women dont like to because they think their overdrying it. very lightly towel dry. too much friction can make hair frizzier and longer to straighten. wet hair molds easy. use Chemistry hydrating leavin conditioner. Has minerals and 5 homectants. I use Hask Placenta before i towel dry. Its good 4 thin hair. blow dry damp. Dont overdry. Then iron with ceramic flat irons. price is no object. less hair products the better circulation.

  • You look gorgeous though!

  • Hey!

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, i'm just asking out of curiosity, is ur hair like 'natural natural' or do you have like mixed hair? Know what I mean? Some people already have long hair...I don't mean to offend at all

  • ahhh its crazy how pretty your are i love your hair and your makeup

  • Purple is my favorite color and I love the purple eye makeup. Gorgeous hair, flat ironed or not.

  • you should get bangs.

    swoopy, faceshaping ones.

omg that would look so pretty.

but your hair is amazing as it is

    <345

    i miss my long hair.

  • If I straightened my hair more often, I would totally get bangs again. I look darn good in bangs. I miss short hair. I might get a wig. :)

  • thanks for posting...i never thought to put my hair in sections....you should see how i flat iron my hair...it hilarious...and scary at the same time...and you have ALOT of hair btw!

  • Sections are great. That way you know that you are getting each section as straight as possible and you don't have to go over it again and again.

  • straight edges?? 15 minutes??? wow.....

  • Sedu works well with my hair and my hair was pretty straight from blowdrying. I don't have as much hair as it appears. LOL

  • you can get straightners with air vents so that the smoke leaves it there without smell but it will shizzle a bit and it also deppends on which product you buy i have some that goes in while damp and some while dry =)

  • I have a maxiglide. But it's a steam iron.. so it still smokes.

  • serious question: when you apply heat protectant right before you run the flat iron through doesn't it sizzle a little?...cause doesn't it dampen the hair?

  • My heat protectant is a serum. Have you even felt Frizz-ease before?? It feels like that. It's not water based or oil based. I don't know how to describe it. I do have water based ones that I use. But don't forget that I don't normally wait three days after a blow dry to flat iron. I usually add the protectant before I blow dry only. Whoops and no, it didn't sizzle.

  • you hair looks well nice.

  • Thanks!

  • i havn't chemically straightend my hair in years(it damages my hair) what flat iron do you recommend? BTW:i have long very thick hair! is it better to just put heat resistant spray in it b4 straitening? i find that if i put oil in my hair b4 straightening it,it doesn't get that straight...it just flattens the curls
