  • A guy in my HS (class of '91) worked like a dog to buy a car and he thought he got an exciting car with a XT. A month later *something* broke and the part, and just the part, was $1500... it had to be ordered from Japan... and took 6 weeks to get here. 6 weeks of walking to work. And the driver's window would stick and he had to get out of the car to pay the tollkeeper. Suddenly the dull old Buicks, Toyotas and Volvos we drove weren't so dull.

  • the engine on the 1985-1991 Subaru XT/ Subaru Alcyone (Japan)/

Subaru Vortex (Australia & New Zealand)

    Engine

    1.8 L EA-82 97 bhp (72 kW; 98 PS) H4

    1.8 L EA-82 112 bhp (84 kW; 114 PS) H4 (85–86)

    1.8 L EA-82 115 bhp (86 kW; 117 PS) H4 (87–91)

    2.7 L ER-27 145 bhp (108 kW; 147 PS) H6

  • @Annihilator1111

112 HP may not sound like much by today's standards, but with 134 lb/ft of torgue at only 2800 rpm it has a surprising amount of grunt and weighing only 2850lbs it's really fun to drive. With a drag coeficient of 1.29 there's enough power to give the car a top speed of 120mph.

  • @davidsheartband and thats still dog slow

  • Marty we need to get up to 88 mph

  • The coolest thing ever. (No idea why YouTube decided to randomly post the first half of my comment before I was done writing it)

  • My aunt had this car back in the 80s, I thought it was

  • why don't they built dashes like this anymore?? o_O

  • too bad they stop making like this dashboard in this days :(

  • This car says we are going to crash and die! that sux, I hate this car

  • Hey just for info, when the 4wd is turned off, is it rear wheel or front wheel driven? I think your dash is sort of cooler than my gauge sweeper.

  • man, cars in the 80's had EVERYTHING!!

my 87 supra has climate control, electronically adjusting suspension, 8-way power seats, lighted vanity mirrors on both sides *unusual for newer cars*, *im pretty sure it started in 87* speed sensitive power steering, little sprayers for the flip-up headlights...

*some of* the 80's cars kicked ass!

  • @dwnrety1 name one

  • @netrioter name one of what?

  • My Grandpa has a GL and a GL-10 (both wagons from '85) with this dash. Neither have been driven for over ten years, though...

Wish my Loyale had a dash like this. D:

  • nice. could one of these be transplanted into an 1989 subaru dl?

  • nice. any way one of those could be transplanted into a 1989 subaru dl?

  • Its like a Japanese version of K.I.T.T.

    Awesome!!!

  • Subarus have always been the only JapScrap cars with character or personality. My Aunt had a Brat (with the seats in the bed!)-I adored that car when I was a little kid. Very Cool Vid-5 Stars.

  • it hade everything possible a car could have in its time !

  • Wow!! That's tight. No other car have a dashboard like that. Awesome!!

  • No boost for you!

  • i like digital digidash

  • This car has no voice features.

  • it has a chime

  • Does this Subaru have a chime or the Electronic Voice Alert?

  • Did a walkaround of the car in an open field, but it needs some music or something to make it interesting. Don't have any editing software though.

  • rev it to 4500 with full throttle then you get some boost for the video

  • Won't boost without load, this is an automatic. You can see the boost display in the incar driving video

  • good explanation of the digidash man...loved it...also put some up of the outside and other interior pics too
