  • Love their stuff

  • The bit at 6:10 reminds me of the ending of Forty 6 & 2.

  • That's the shit

  • ONE OF THE BEST LIVE VIDS ON YOUTUBE HOLY FUUCKKKK

Lucius is a beast as always

  • the effects of pot+acid= brilliance, COG DOMINATE STONER ROCK AS WE SPEAK!!!

  • I love this band....

    Awesome live show......

    Great muscians......

    Kick ass Songs......

3 dudes just doing there thing......

and the best amp up music.

    COG FOR LIFE.

  • yeah its auto-wah, he wouldnt be bouncing around like that if he had to control it himself, same effect used in that beefier bit at the start. probably one of the few examples of auto-wah not sucking really.

  • I think he has the same guitar pick I have, lolol

  • One of my fave things to watch on you tube...

    fu*&king outstanding

    thankyou cog

  • Fuck me! What a band, I was reading an article saying that Biffy Clyro were "everything a rock band should be" well Cog should be everything Biffly Clyro want to be and I love BC but there ain't no band like Cog!

  • This song shits all over Sharing Space. So damn good, I wish they'd play more of their earlier stuff live.

  • its fucking gorgeous live

  • brace yourself compañeros, the road is long!

  • Mixing was really bad, it was very difficult to make out the different instruments, also they pretty much only played songs from sharing space (2 or 3 from new normal, none from eps). I was really pumped to at least hear moshiach.

  • I'm a massive fan, but south melbourne show on the 22nd was pretty poor.

  • oh damn thats a shame?? what was so poor about the gig??

  • Checking them out next month down in South Melbourne. Cant bloody wait to see them live again! It's been way too long.

  • Love cog, never been anything but blown away by their live performances. If you haven't seen them live and you have the opportunity to do so, I would strongly recommend taking it.

Maybe it's just my tele, but its a shame more of the bass doesn't come through on this recording, its what really drives the intro to this song.

  • i saw cog at the revesby workers club

    im only 13

    it was underage

and it wazs the most incredible thing i have seen in my life

i was right up the front leaning on the stage

they are probs the best australian band

  • You've got that right.

  • fucking cog are incredible

    jesus christ

greatest band i've heard for ages

    wow

  • Man I should listen to Cog more.

  • Yes, you should.

  • thats almost criminal, cog should be part of your daily diet

  • i spent 1995, at an undisclosed eastern suburbs highschool with luke, the bass player. he was an extremely funny guy, always laughing, cracking jokes & pranks. He wasn't playing much music then as far as I know & his (modest) claim to fame was his brother was in 'the hanging tree'. Well, seems the best thing to happen was him & flynn teaming up with lucius to cause havoc & throw a curse or two on the illuminati! Fuck the system. Free your mind. Good to see someone leading in that direction. Amen

  • I'm a Canadian Living here in Perth and if I would've heard about these guys when I was back in Canada, I wouldn't be the only one who is blown away by them. I agree with bojosoto, if they haven't gone overseas yet, they should.

these guys would blow up in North America, that's without a doubt. Great tunes! Remind me of Clutch bigtime but better...

  • their old stuff is very powerfull

  • Hear hear !! They should win an ARIA for 'best alternative', 'biggest balls' or whatever. With the good video clips they're doin these days I reckon they're gonna make it !

  • they play incredibly well live its incredible

  • redundant comment is redundant

  • fuck you

  • redundant comment is redundant

  • your a wanker

  • Without a doubt, one of Australia's finest.Agreed they have mellowed a bit with age,but their musical prowess has unwavered,& Flynn Gower's vocals have matured for the better.Cog should be a household name, but I fear they may be just a little too clever for the status quo(& the corrupt money-making machine that is ARIA).But there's nothing like the old power trio!

  • dude, this is spot on. cog are one of australia's best bands, and they really need to get themselves out going shows overseas cause they are puerly amazing!

    really nice guys too!

  • even in oz they havent been recognised enough

  • try myspace. its always a great way to find stuff from bands. not sure about releases outside the US or what label. YOu might just have to fall back to iTunes ( yuk ). new album will be out soon, and I would expect a global release. these guys are just too good to keep to ourselves. Going to see them live in jsut over a month!

  • Ok, so where and how do I get more of there music. Is it just a Ausie thing, or can I find there web page.

  • The last minute of this song gives me chills...... They are such a great band, Seen them about 5 times now, never disappointed!

  • Comment removed

  • @Legacylout

the whole song gives me chills

  • back in the day when channel v was interesting. sigh.

  • back in the day when cog were interesting. sigh.

  • I still find their material interesting enough for them to be my favourite band :) But yes, to an extent I do know what you mean. I miss the winding and brutally heavy riffs, the mind bending time signatures and great experimental feel that used to be in their music. Bit I still love them.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, great call!

  • good to know that I'm not alone with this sentiment.

  • To describe Cog in one line;

    Brace yourself Companyerro's.

God I love 'em! My throat started bleeding after their gig recently in Melbourne, Aus.

    My brothers!

  • these boys are the fucking coolest cats, you guys that have met/(and the most important part) Heard their music, Its just the undescribable. Rock's fucking finest.

  • whata band

  • Hey I remember reading one of your posts saying that you had a video of "Moo"... Is this true? I'd love to see it!

  • I think it sounds more like a wah than a phaser... Yes, I've seen it live, but I'm not tall enough to see what his feet were doing!

  • Yea definately not a phaser, dont know how I came up with that?

Prity sure its an auto wha coz I tryd it out n it sounds damn close.

  • It's an envelope filter. I've got an old MXR but I think he uses a DOD.

  • @JPCODE ... Actually, sounds ALOT like he is using a Boss Envelope Filter.

  • @matthewjtrotter It is actually a DOD FX25 Envelope filter. I know because I was there checking out the gear.

  • @JPCODE Envelope Filter or Auto-Wah

  • its autowah, i use the same ffect when i frettapp and its the only way to get that effect working that well

  • Question 4 guitarists, At 3:32 when flynn is doing the hammer riff, What effect do you think he's using? at first I thought phaser but now think its an auto wha effect. Only at the end of the riff it stays real trebley like a wha fully forward, maybe he is just manually using a wha but its hard to tell in this vid. Anyone seen this song live??

  • Sounds like an auto wah because of how regular it sounds... and hes bouncing around while tapping so i doubt its a manual wah. But hey, I'm a bassist, what do I know :P

  • it is an autowah that is set to do the "wah" part and peak when the signal gets strong, i.e he picks it. this exact effect is on the BOSS gt set of effects boards. i know for sure its on the gt-8 as i own one and the gt-3.

it is the same effect used at the start. he is just using that effect and palm muting the frets at 9 and 10

  • forgot to mention that he also uses this effect in quite a few songs!

  • It's an envelope filter mofos!!!

  • @JPCODE It's a flanger.

  • @JPCODE def an auto wah, probably dynamic response auto wah, plus a delay pedal after it

  • listen to the bit 46sec in and tell me that isn't tool :P

  • hey i didnt no v played any good music

  • that was sick

  • WOW...my friend just showed me COG and i thought they were pretty cool. Ive always been a massive Tool fan aswell, but Cog are awsome. and im glad we have an aussie band like this ;)

  • Yes COG are our great 3 piece, and don't really sound like TOOL to me. I think of COG as a modern day POLICE.

  • My favourite live track (besides when they used to close with Just Visiting, that was magical)

  • awesome stuff!!

  • COG is one letter away from being GOD backwards ...this is no accident.

  • They are unreal but that logic sux they are closer to being BOG as you don't need to spell it backwards and only substitute the one letter as you did. Still, they are my favourite aussie band

  • BOG, GOD, whichever. As long as everyone knows that COG are brilliant.

  • best aussie band....

these guys r gonna go far!!!

    GO COG GO!!

  • fucking amazing!!

  • I saw this performance on the gig years ago and it was actually the first time I ever heard COG. I have loved them ever since although I prefer the older stuff apart from River Song. I'm blown away by how good this performance was, actually sounds tighter and more inspired than any of the shows I have ever seen, and I've seen heaps. Cheers to whoever posted it.
