Daniel Johns is such a great writer, he goes from hard rock to beatles ballads style in a blink of an eye and still original. Get over it, grunge is dead!

to laynestaley or anyone else: to a real musician the music IS their life, and it reflects such. in order for them to keep writing the same music, they'd have to be the SAME people. simple logic. i've listened to them since frogstomp, neon ballroom is by far my favorite, but i would never ask them to stay the same people forever. that's idiotic. by the way, writing what certain people think they sound best at is NOT what a real artist does. they're not writing music just for you jackass.

i agree with you completely... frogstomp had a sort of lyrical niaevity because the kid was fifteen and he was trying to write nihilistic music when he wasnt really nihilistic!!! compare that to the lyrical content of , say , neon ballroom where he had almost died from an eating diorder and youll see how much his life influences his lyrics

Hey why dont you watch who u call names?? MANY bands have stayed in the same genre look at AIC they never started playing pussy pop. you can write about different things with out overhauling their style if they turned to black metal are gangster rap would u still like them???

to start with, you can't sing grunge all your life if you want to still speak when your 50 (unlike jimmy barnes who cant sing for months after a ful gig) secondly i wouldn't call the album dissapointing, it's like trying to compare the White Album with Hard Days Night you just can't - different headspace

i would say you could sing grunge for your whole life... look at eddie vedder. but even pearl jam, who where the only original grunge band who had any longevity, pushed themselves into new musical directions, but not so much so because they were happier with the music they created.

pearl jam is great but not the original gruge band hell AIC , sound garden and even the over rated nirvana are closer to being original grunge. and AIC is still together without the singer so they longevity and theyve stayed grunge
