I agree with you completely. I'm currently in 10th grade, and I have a huge crush on one of my best friends (Sean). He's actually struggling with his own sexuality, so that gives me a little hope. I myself am openly gay. I go to a Catholic high school (ugh) and the priests, several teachers, and some students absolutely HATE me. But my friends are completely accepting. I know it's gonna get better, though. And hopefully Sean will come around.

My best freind Damien came out to me first. As a teenage boy, I lost someone I loved (Bobby Griffith/Prayers for Bobby) to suicide! I too am committed to demonstrating to our younger queer (LGBT/gay) brothers and sisters, that things do in fact get better, and that this life can be beautiful, especially if they remain in it
Genetically speaking, there is no reason that orientation has a baring on physical appearance, but originally, most gay men used to put more effort into nutrition and exercise, compared to straight men.
Plus most gay men tend to interact better with women compared to most straight men, probably because they do not want to sleep with them.
And since a good personality is a big attraction to most women, that is probably what makes gay men in general seem more appealing to straight women.
High school IS one phase, but arguably the most CRUCIAL one for the development of a sensitive gay child. The US government should now be getting to the SOURCE: homophobic bullying in schools and families! Creating massive anti-homophobic bullying legislation across the country (which they are pushing for in the UK as well: it is CRUCIAL) Its where our belief systems about ourselves & the world around us are formed! It does get 'better', but in essence it shouldn't get bad in the first place....

You and Steve are beautiful together. This subject of kids that are gay being bullies is so disturbing. Kids are cruel, there is no doubt of that. Parents need to make sure their own children go out and be kind to others no matter what... My sons were taught to respect other people. I also told them if someone is bullying you or another kid, you have to tell me first and then I will tell the administration. Kids need to not be afraid to tell. I was bullied in school. It was not fun.

Oh wow. I've been in relationships with guys in high school just like you guys. I've actually made a mission of helping people come out and be true to themselves in high school. I'd say that 60% of my high school is either gay or bi:)

@cwalker4009 just tell your best friend or one of your trusted friends about how you feel first. im 19 and i came out to my best friends about 3 weeks ago about being Bisexual and i just came out to my mother earlier tonight. be totally truthful and hold nothing back when you come out, be proud of who you are! tell your friends first then family.

@cwalker4009 Just like women in the preindustrial era, many LGBT folk in your situation have to come by an independent income in order to escape the dictates of spouse or family. If u can manage to achieve financial ind. from ur family - not always an easy thing if ur struggling - then u can have the platform to be open about the person you are w/o fearing the retributions of the ignorant. However, even for Evangelical Christains, homosexuality is MUCH less controversial than it used to be.

Sure people get bullied for other reasons than being queer, but name one of those reasons that also result in bullying from families and religious establishments.
In almost all the cases involving those other reasons, your home and church, etcetera would be a places of safety.

If everybody were pre-pubescent children, life wouldn't continue. If everybody were sterile, life wouldn't continue. If everybody were Catholic priests, life wouldn't continue. Being gay is not a choice. It's not a lifestyle. And not everybody is born gay, so you don't really need to worry, do you?

To guys and girls, here's a little tip God shared with ME.
Embrace and be emotional with everyone, because that's what God wants. Straight, gay, bisexual, transgender... it's all love. God does not want you to feel shame or supress these feelings. God does not want you to feel as if you need to repent for your sexual orientation.
Just remember to respect and love others, strive for your happiness, but don't hurt anyone else in the process.

Ha. I wish it were that simple. I've been out of high school and in college for three years, and out for two years. I've yet to have a boyfriend, or even get kissed. It may get better, if you're lucky. For everyone else, it's just more pain, disappointment, and torture. And then death.

As a teenage boy, I lost someone I loved (Bobby Griffith/Prayers for Bobby) to suicide! I too am committed to demonstrating to our younger queer (LGBT/gay) brothers and sisters, that things do in fact get better, and that this life can be beautiful, especially if they remain in it

Genetically speaking, there is no reason that orientation has a baring on physical appearance, but originally, most gay men used to put more effort into nutrition and exercise, compared to straight men.
Plus most gay men tend to interact better with women compared to most straight men, probably because they do not want to sleep with them.
And since a good personality is a big attraction to most women, that is probably what makes gay men in general seem more appealing to straight women.

High school IS one phase, but arguably the most CRUCIAL one for the development of a sensitive gay child. The US government should now be getting to the SOURCE: homophobic bullying in schools and families! Creating massive anti-homophobic bullying legislation across the country (which they are pushing for in the UK as well: it is CRUCIAL) Its where our belief systems about ourselves & the world around us are formed! It does get 'better', but in essence it shouldn't get bad in the first place....

You and Steve are beautiful together. This subject of kids that are gay being bullies is so disturbing. Kids are cruel, there is no doubt of that. Parents need to make sure their own children go out and be kind to others no matter what... My sons were taught to respect other people. I also told them if someone is bullying you or another kid, you have to tell me first and then I will tell the administration. Kids need to not be afraid to tell. I was bullied in school. It was not fun.

Paul & Steve, thank you for sharing your lives, you two make such a cute couple. I can relate to your story Paul. I even stepped out of the closet for a while, while I was in college, but because of my career choice (military) I am as deep in the closet as you can get, most of the time anyways. But life is still so much better now then it ever was in high school. One day, hopefully soon, I wont need to be as deep in the closet. Thanks again guys.
