I love hormagaunts, I took down my buddies Sanguinary Guard with a 22 hormagaunts and toxin sacs. Well maybe 4 of his Guard. And it totally stopped him from getting to my Hive Tyrant. So far i'm about 4 for 0 against Blood angels with my Hormagaunt heavy Nids.

Im new to Warhammer 40k and i was wondering who uses the spinefists? Hormagaunts or Termagants?! I'm so f*cking confused right now. I read up on the tyranids but dont remember reading about this? I'm getting the codex soon hopefully (should have been here a week ago....) but any advice for what should go on what creature would be very helpful! (I have the battle force box!)

@the31337one termagants use spinefists and hormagaunts use only scything talons and termagants can use several weapons other than spinefists. just rember Termagants=just filling every inch of the air with living ammo that will kill your enemies in horrible and indescribeably painful ways. Hormagaunts= rushing the enemy with so many of em even a space marine would piss his pants before letting em loose to rip your enemy to a thousand little peices before feasting on their (sometimes living) flesh

In new codex hormagaunts are very useful and are definitely worth their points

doing tests (just dumb dice rolling =P haven't played with my army yet, just got the battleforce) the Hormagaunts did really damn well. scything talons, adrenal glands and toxin sacks rip space marines up. 48 attacks on charge, reroll 1's, always wound on 4, strength 4 and Initiative 6 on charge. amazing!

I find giving gaunts all those upgrades to be a waste tbh, thats adding 4 points per models for a 20 squad of hormagaunts its 120 points with all the upgrades you only get 12. Bring naked hormagaunt and swamp them with numbers!

I Loooooove Hormagaunts. They are the Glass Hammer of my Nidz and the reason my Nid army has yet to be haulted.

Throw a Lictor in with a groupe of 16 and your got yourself 48 attacks on the charge, rerolling misses cuz of the lictor.

I also Buff the shit out of them for a real heavy punch. If your gonna waste points on a week unit you might as well make them worth it I find.

Thanks! My brother plays nids and he REALLY needs to know how to use his units (especially hormagaunts, he needs a lot though) good luck create that endless swarm. The main problem with Hormagaunts is that Genestealers are 7 points more for Feeder Tendrils and Rending.

Still, what's great about Hormagaunts is that you can quickly engage units such as Lootas, Firewarriors, Devastators, etc. Tie 'em up and have your Genestealers engage the tough 'uns.

Well their strenght (source) is the toxin sacs biomorpgh. Its a little piece you glue on your model. And in that game it will always use the increased strenght by +1. (even when it shoots) I suggest that if you dont want to have the strenght biomorpgh then just take it of the model...Simple! The most important is not that you have the piece on it, just that your opponent knows that it has that upgrade. :P (1st price for longest comment EvEr!!1!?)

i have a cool idea for getting 16 termagaunts in one box. use the heads and bodies, but give the hormagaunt bodies termagaunt weapons. i normaly would do 8 spine gaunts with the hormagaunt bodies. if u do this, the more upright hormagaunt frame makes them look cooler if u position them right.

yeah a nidzilla army is mostly carnifexes, lictors, upgraded troops, and not as many warriors, because carnifexes don't need synapse creatures. if you can afford apocolypse creatures like trygons or heirodules, those are in a nidzilla army too
