  • I See Wendys Cameltoe LOL :).

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid and I love it now. I always thought this was the most magical song. I find myself dancing with my kids at Christmas time to it. So many kids these days are stuck entertaining themselves and not getting that special attention. This movie shows them that it's okay to be silly sometimes and to not be afraid to let their imaginations fly :)

  • This may be the one non-crappy song they play on my jobs pre-recorded Christmas record...worth looking up, anyway.

  • Wow, wow, wow, many thanx!

  • Found a never open copy of this soundtrack at a good will I worked at 2 years ago.

  • I always loved this music.

  • I want bumper cars at my funeral. and a giant statue that blows bubbles. That would be awesome

  • Wish I found this for my dad last year. I spent all of 2010 caring for him during his cancer. When he passed in October, it left emptyness and unanswered questions. I want to make up for it now though maybe late, I just want closure and this sounds like him. Thanks for the post.

  • @angelkid79 {{{hugs}}}

  • Beautiful. :)

The ending of Toys gets me crying every time.

  • @RoboWatchgirl it was just on english tv yesterday... i forgot how awesome it is :D

  • I think this movie was misunderstood. Great movie. Coulda been greater. But still a great movie with a great soundtrack.

  • @askagaydad Soundtrack was better than the movie itself, IMO.

  • Sadly, this movie came to theaters and went without leaving a ripple. Nonetheless, "The Closing Of The Year" is a legitimate Christmas song, having been performed by Placido Domingo and Sara Brightman on their video, "A Gala Christmas in Vienna". Yet, I still cannot find the sheet music! Frustrating!

  • This song always brings a tear to my eye. These three elements together......nothing short of magical. Seal should have been equal billing with Wendy & Lisa. Great song, nonetheless.

  • I can't believe Nostalgia Critic said he will NOT review this movie! My childhood remains safe!

  • Most sureal Christmas video.

  • wendy and lisa are hotties..matter o fact, wendy and her twin was born RICH. theyre dad was a chairman at Warner i think it was but they would have never met if it had not been for Purple Rain..love em..Prince...has been REPlACED!! He's the same a hole that was in the movie

  • Wendy and Lisa are hot. Shame they're lesbians...:(

  • It kinda sounds like Celine Dion is singing this song.

  • what are the kids singing?

  • @ktwarner87 "Up on the knees of a Sergeant-Major, Ride through the woods with the wind in your hair, Silver bells on a stolen reindeer, As we race to the castle over there."

  • love those bells.

  • I just caught the film TOYS and heard this song a week ago on cable. Thank u so much for the vid!

  • i will call the radio stations to play it alot more

  • Great song! Liked the movie, too. It should be an annual offering on, at least, one of the eleventy jillion channels out there.

  • Does anybody have the first cut of this? The "opening" song - rather than the reprise at the end of the movie?

  • @paulakaye5 The opening is the beginning of the first movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony #1 'Winter Dreams,' an excellent piece of music in its own right. I highly encourage you to listen to it. Hope this helps.

  • I actually helped to write this song.

  • @rgz1985 Well, I'm very impressed.

  • @ShutlOrbit Thanks! I do my best!

  • Best Christmas song ever produced. I've never forgotten this movie and never will. one of Robin Williems best proforminces. Very funny and sad all at the same time, Funny movie and sad that it's been over looked and forgotten by everyone. should be on TV every year just like Rudolph, Frosty and Polar Express. Capures the heart of Christmas perfictly. Everyone is a kid at heart, It also shows family ties and too do whatever it takes for the pasion in which you and your heart believes in.

  • one of my favs of all times...

  • Just read on wikipedia that this movie was a flop!REALLY?!?!?! I LOVED this movie when it came out! It was VERY ORIG,not the usual hollywood cookie cutter movie crap you see nowadays.Think Ill get this movie tomorr! :)

  • @texgal71 Wikipdia is a fan generated site, they are a bunch of d-bags that dont know shit.

  • @texgal71 People were spoiled back then. It was the second golden age of hollywood.

  • @texgal71 I totally agree, the first time i saw this, i was amazed at its originality. But like all fan movies, We keep it alive and show it to all with an openess to a unique vision

  • @texgal71 man, this is one of the greatest movies ever...

  • Just read on wikipedia that this movie was a flop!REALLY?!?!?! I LOVED this movie when it came out! It was VERY ORIG,not the usual hollywood cookie cutter movie crap you see nowadays.Think Ill get this movie tomorr! :)

  • Meet Me At The Magic House in The City of St Louis Missouri U.S.A. For More Info #LOL :).

  • Hey Seal - nice hat :) *snicker, snicker*

  • The movie Toys is a forgotten gem. I have always loved the movie but it doesn' t get the recognition it deserves. I hope one day people rediscover this beautiful, whimsical masterpiece.

  • @MrPhukyou I couldnt have said it better myself. I saw this movie in the theater when I was 9, and Ive never forgotten it.

  • Who ever this male trying to sing he is spoils the excellent music.

  • Who ever this male he is spoils the excellent music.

  • Such a wonderful song. A highly underrated Zimmer gem.

  • Are you kidding! Seal is WONDERFUL!

  • Tears of joy! Thanks to Robin, Joan, LL, Wendy & Lisa! I won't stay ao long before I visit again! Happy Holidays all!

  • @acoqtail720 don't forget Seal

  • Holy nuts on a fire, it's Seal!

  • This song was great till seal started singing... :P

  • @ComPrt3 I agree with you!

  • I think the movie was unbelievable up until the ending. I think they inevitably ran out of ideas and I really hate the ending with the toy battles, although I love the scene with the General and Robin Williams hanging off the plane and smashing through the glass. But yeah I think the ending kills this movie's brilliance

  • Oh god the 90s.

  • Save Crestwood Mall in the city of St Louis Missouri U.S.A. Please :).

  • So glad I'm not the only one who finds this song and movie amazing. I love the fact that you never know what State the factory or the mansion is in. And what can I say about Hans Zimmer and Trevor Horn, who were largely responsible for writing this song, and the film score in general? Amazing, and yes the movie can be found on DVD. Took ME a while, but I found it-it might have been Borders.

  • is it just me or in this video the singer look like Celine Dion whan celine whos in her 20s

  • Love this song.

  • I want the year 1992 A.D. Back :).

  • @armoredtruck1984 Oh gosh, not me.

  • I didn't even know they made a video for this song. lol such an underrated classic. as much slack as the movie took when it was released, I'm amazed this still didn't become a holiday staple on the radio.

  • I used this song last year for an end of the year/christmas time slide show. It's hard to top, but would anyone have any suggestions?

  • its a shame I dont hear this song more this time of year. I listen to it every year around Christmas

  • @MrPhukyou ME TOO!!!

  • This song made my cry so hard when I first heard it.

  • One of my favorite movies, although I have not seen it in years I sill remember it. and I like the top hat with the ostrich feathers, I would totally wear that!

  • Man I could look at Wendys Cameltoe all day #LOL :).

  • This is actually musical perfection.

  • I loved this movie,I would rewind and rewind the beginning and the very end just to hear this song

Beautiful song. makes me feel like a child again

  • anyone know where i can download this specific version of the song?? The long one I downloaded is almost 6 minutes long and I need this specific version for a Christmas light show I am doing

  • Seal looks like a pimp with that feather lol!

  • i have seen them not along ago.on some tv show.

  • 4 people need to get their brains examined...

  • I swear the scenery that they use for the outside of the factory looks a lot like Windows' default wallpaper.

  • I think Lady Gaga should play the Robot in a Toys Remake :).

  • @armoredtruck1984 And actually try to sing...

  • If they do a remake, the bed should say AFLAC!

  • love this film and this song!!

  • Such a wonderful movie...Id much rather have a world like in Toys than what we have created for ourselves today. It is so sad to see our values and morals in this country shrinking away...

  • @Bellamusica25 which country?

  • @Nikon05 The United States

  • @Bellamusica25 I see, 'this' was a little vague :P

  • @Nikon05 Haha ya sorry about that...=)

  • @Bellamusica25: Amen

  • Such a wonderful movie. Id much rather have a world full of innocent fun loving children than what we have now...

  • This movie was made in the 90s. Watch it closely. Was it trying to tell us something? Like the gradual disappearance of childhood in the century to come?

  • Imagine if the world's main focus was fun and loving?

  • salt lake childrens choir should sing this song, with the motab perhaps

  • to go back and relive the 90's

  • This song always made me cry and it still does ;_;

  • @Civonos omg same here.

  • the 90's before movies began to turn into pure shit

  • Really a shame that you hardly hear this song during the holidays. Truly captures the spirit of christmas.

  • @evilmidget i know i've been saying the same thing this IS top 5 BEST CHRISTMAS / NEW YEARS song ever and you never hear it!!!

  • @evilmidget Mariah Carey fits better for her first name. :D

  • wow this brings back memories!

  • Great song until freakin Seals screws it up. Why did they put him in there?!

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Beautiful!!! YeS!!

  • Seal!

The inclusion of Seal just elevated the coolness of this song.

  • @monkeyboyiv

I think Seal's hat alone elevated the coolness of this song.

  • @Jesusc500

    That hat is pretty epic.

  • @Jesusc500 i want that hat

  • love this song...love the movie too.

  • Lovly song :) what are the lyrics for the part sung at 1:35- 14:8??

  • @buchanchem

Up on the knees of a sergeant major

Ride through the woods with the wind in your hair

Silver bells on a stolen reindeer

As we race to the castle over there

  • @waterskippers

    Thanks :D

  • Wendy and Lisa...Are they from Prince's Revolution?

  • @pgreen413

Yes. They did quite a bit of work for him, especially with the mixing and post work. Prince lost part of his mojo when he decided not work with them again.

  • Song is Catchy

  • I thought I saw Wendy in Toys at the start! I love this song even more now! Have a bit of a girl crush on her lol! :P

  • @angiebaby506 You have a girl crush on Wendy? You do know her and Lisa are gay. They used to be a couple but now they just work together

  • @TreyLutrash Really? I didn't know that

  • this song is the best song with childrens singing I've ever heard... a lot of emotions in my room... my brain... head... body... absolutelly fantastic

  • Dang! Now my daughter wants one of those duck beds. It's a great movie though.

  • HOW can this NOT be any bigger?? or NOT covered by more artist??? lovely vocals and subject!!

  • I fucking love that movie and the soundtrack!!!!!!!!

  • This reminds me of all the good times i had at Crestwood Mall in St Louis Missouri U.S.A. and The Indianapolis Childrens Museum back in the day.

  • which one is Wendy and which is Lisa and is the Black guy &?

  • @besco777 Wendy (Melvoin) is the singer, Lisa (Coleman), is the other one (the one sit while together), the guy is Seal.

  • This is the nicest christmas song, which I have ever heard in my life. I agree with you and I am going tu listen this song every Christmas and in the end of YEAR,because it is the nicest, the most beautiful song. Can you tell me please, where I can download it??

  • They sound good w/ Seal..loved the song..

  • Ocloud16, it would be really nice if you could put the lyrics on here. Few places on the net have the full and complete lyrics.

Also, as an aside, I would really like Seal's hat.

  • @ ___@

    There was a music video!?

  • One of the prettiest Christmas songs EVER - almost made me cry the first time I heard it

  • I'm singing this song with my choir in London at the moment-a beautiful song!

  • That was one of the best movies I ve ever seen.

  • Thank you...This has to be the best xmas somg ever ....also the movie was great..I love it ..Thank you

  • When this movie came out, you were in one of two camps: Either you loved it completely, or you loved the visuals and hated the rest. I am in the latter camp, sadly. I was (and still am) a huge Barry Levinson fan, but was hugely disappointed in TOYS, no matter how amazing the production value is. It almost makes a better trailer than a movie, in my opinion.

That being said, more people should be aware of how wonderful and uplifting this song is.

  • I'll agree, Toys is a very polarizing film. I love the visuals and soundtrack, but the criticism regarding the very disjointed plot is justified.

  • Hey!!! I didn't know that was Wendy & Lisa!!! Damn I love this song!

  • Magical song from a great movie.

  • The this movie is over is like saying good bye to an old friend. I was 18 when I saw it and it was a completly brain wash to me, I just got lost for months into it. I loved the music, the story line was so sporadic, so fresh, intimate and talented. It was just an imaginative scenario like: lets produce something fun and serious at same time.

This movie is a master piece that will be re discovered in the future like the Wizard of Oz.

  • @vjrei

Sadly, this movie is too underrated and under-appreciated. I also saw it when I was 18! Just a brilliant film.

  • @vjrei Agreement!

  • This movie was good, Robin Williams ..great , is he going on tour again?

  • ya know, when you know when someone has the tools to do something and they don't? And you know it's on purpose, some depression, some kinda trama or intent. I've seen thousands of home built worlds, in video games and videos , graphics, books, journals, sketches, paintings, sculptures, - dreamt up ,

when it comes to reality, we can't get it done- it's almost like ya have to work at it to stay this way. just kinda struck me is all.

  • I LOVE this song!! Does anyone know where I can get it?

Straight or gay...who cares? I don't know why people get their knickers in such a knot over them; their music stands on it's own.

    Lovely, lovely...Thank you for posting.

  • i didnt know seal sings

    in this song

  • i was watching toys the other day i forgot how much the film is great and the song at the end is lovely does any 1 know how to get this song/download to put on my ipod??? Gxx

  • This is highly underrated, as is the film. Both have a depth and power that most "reviewers" will never understand. This is a hauntingly beautiful song that has unplumbed depths every time I play it. It is in its own way a masterpiece.

Toys is also a masterpiece in its own way. Both Toys, and Steve Martin's LA Story, are two of the best films, and best film soundtracks, ever made and yet the reviewers excoriated both. Reviewers are largely about money. True Art escapes them, and always will.

  • Absolutely love this song. All these years I thought Tori Amos wrote/sang this.

  • Tori Amos did "Happy Workers" which is used in a Coda in the extended version of the song. I was tickled to see that it was Seal doing the male part.

  • Aye, Happy Workers also an excellent song. I first heard that on Toys

  • Did they sing in prince' songs ?!?!

  • Yes

  • Yet another awesome movie that was underappreciated by the critics. Bunch of dumbasses they are. I have to add this to my 90s movie collection!

  • I think its focus more on presentation than plot made the critics dislike it. I really enjoyed it though. Probably the best use of color I've ever seen in a movie.

  • It's for that very reason that it's an unexpected film of my favorites list. I think the plot is more of a post-modernist Hamlet. The funeral scene in which the "barrel of laughs" is heard laughing from the late Zevo's casket sets the pace for the film's plot. It's serious but not too serious, I think you might say the plot is subtextually galvanized by the lack of thick, saccharine melodrama. It's poignant by way of its measured levity. Here are the two masks of Dionysus.

  • Nerd.

I don't know who Dionysus is. Right now I'm reading about Diogenes. He's an interesting fellow. Sounds like you'd know who I'm talking about.

  • Haha, I suppose I am a bit nerdy. Don't read too much of Diogenes lest you find yourself plucking chickens.

  • I think I plan on entering theaters as everyone else is leaving instead.

  • yes this song does bring back memories

  • Can someone point me to a site that has a this is a MP3 downloadable.

  • Beautiful song to one of the most imaginative movies I've ever seen. Michael Gambon and LL Cool J in particular were hilarious in this film.

  • No wonder I like it. I love imaginative stuff.

  • One of the most amazing motion pictures of all time! Just beautiful. This song brings back many memories and is just amazingly well done. I totally want a bed like the sister has at 1:50 !!

  • by far one of the best fucking films ever & one of the best soundtrack songs ever made.......... :)

  • Who wouldn't want something that cool?

  • i was freakishly obsessed with this film when i was younger.

I can't believe i've never seen this music video/promo before.

    ...WOW......

    hehehe.

    -riff

  • youtube was not around back then.

  • @MOKandRIFF I had never put two and two together and realized the male voice was Seal; how about you?

I loved this song--love the movie, but a lot of it was the soundtrack :D

  • @MOKandRIFF I love this song, such innocence

  • They don't make songs like this anymore.

  • I play this song every Xmas :D

  • I did not know there was a video, I love it!

  • A great movie and sounds from a better
