  • That faith would be justified if there actually were 80% left. But that's wildly wrong. It might have been true in the 1970's, but oil exploration peaked in the 1960's, and there's mounting evidence that Ghawar is facing collapse.

  • I apparently can't post the URL here, so look for an article on a website called "The Oil Drum" by Stuart Staniford, titled, "Why peak oil is probably about now"

  • Anyone who has reason or any trace of intelligence, read rj77nz's posts and realize that this is what you're going to be up against from now until the end of the crisis. He'll be dying of starvation and with his last breath he'll be saying that this will all blow over, it's just temporary. Once they have reached that point, inventing any number of faith-based solutions that are always just on the horizon rather than facing the here and now, they're just dead weight.

  • I meant "imagining any number of faith-based solutions", not "inventing."

  • Shit loads of oil left ya dick heads!

  • Yeah, about 50%. The very definition of peak oil.

  • denial and anger seem to be the first reactions of most folks who enter this conversation, but we can trust that as the conversation continues and progresses, that will fall away. i long for the day when our conversations aren't about denial but are about what we're going to do (and/or *not* do)--that day better come damn soon :)

  • Agreed.
