So... I found if I set it for anything higher than 3823 for the width (like 3824) it doesnt work and defaults to 1024x768 res when the game starts.

I want 5760x1080. Here is my command I am trying to get working. Any Ideas?

Can anyone get this to work?!  I do what it says. And when the game launches - it doesn't seem to take my change for the res. I am trying to run at 5760x1080 (3 1920x1080 screens). I dont get any errors - it just seems to start in the low res. I have the latest copy of the game from steam.

Although Terraria now has a resolution setting, the higher you set it, the rarer spawns become. For example, on 1080p HD, I have yet to see a single monster (not even a single slime). It's sounds retarded that video resolution affects monster spawn, but it does. The same problem happens on any computer running a higher resolution.

this doesn't work unless you change the resolution in the settings too. and before v1.0.3 you couldn't change the resolution so it didn't work too well for widescreen monitors.

Hey totalhalibut: I see you have limit framerate on. On higher end pc's the game runs slower then it's supposed to. So turn it off and then it will run on the real speed it's supposed to be played in :)

That's not widescreen, that's fullscreen. As in, all the Devs did was make it zoomed in so everything's blown up and looks like shit. The video here shows how to make it WIDESCREEN, as in, you can see much farther around you without zooming in or blowing up the picture.

it's a little weird, since the mana stars go down right through the middle of the screen. the text in signs will also appear to the left of the actual textbox. other than that, its working perfectly

You can skip the making a shortcut step, if you add the TerrariaWrapper.exe to Steam, right click > Properties, you can put the command line arguments at the end of the "Target" box

This tweak has a very nasty side effect - monster spawns in my world are drastically down since (substantially) increasing the resolution. The game doesn't spawn monsters where you can see them, but doesn't increase the potential spawn radius around the player to suit the extra resolution.

@Trevnyah Just go to the start orb and search Terraria, wait for it to load and the Documents title should load with a Terraria folder, click that. Check the destination and memorise it.

@DMiBY Thanks for the response, I've actually tried that and it says the folder that contains Terraria is under "My Games" and there are only a few files in there, and the Terraria application itself isn't even in there. For some reason, the Terraria application just sits by itself in a separate folder. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well. Regardless, thank you for the advice :)

You can actually add the wrapper to steam as a non-steam game. You then go to properties and edit the target for your width and height.

For anyone wondering, the steam shortcut creates a bigger screen because the program automatically runs Terraria at a set resolution.

To set the resolution custom again, go to the options of the file and click on "Set Launch Options" and add in the "-height xxx -width xxx" there instead
