canadas number 1 country king . well loved down here in cape breton. canadas country gentelmen the name well deserved for he was all of it. also had a great piano player and friend mel acoin.and steel player i got to meet and respect bob luicer.
My wife's "Aunt Edith" wasTommy's guitar teacher in London many years ago. My wife sat in on some of his lessons and sometimes would accompany him on the piano.
yeah i watched this show when i was a kid...also the ed sullivan show, don messers jubilee my folks loved to watch ..and my mom love stampede wrastling from calgary...lol
Thanks for posting the Tommy Hunter vids...brings back memories of being a little kid watching him every weekend with my parents...we had no cable growing up so our choices were limited LOL:)
You'll hear Tommy say and sing "speckle", not "speckled". Roy Acuff dropped the "D" in his rendition. As a matter of respect and tradition, some artists still do the same. The lyric was written by Rev. Guy Smith as "speckled", a reference to Jeremiah 12:9 (KJV). No snow white doves or unblemished lambs here. God gathers up his children on the wings of an imperfect creature. Unusual, especially in the Old Testament. Perhaps of comfort, though, for plain, honest folks.
so lovely, I sure know my aunt Aice could sing this too and Wal Bash Cannon Ball.

Is it just me, or does Tommy Hunter look a bit like Regis Philbin?

Regis should be so lucky.
