@Kinjutsuu Yes, he is ugly, he is probably, as you say, homosexual. This other name you mention, it sounds Lithuanian, maybe? Lithuanians will probably play just like Russians, yes?
You obviously don't know an awful lot about "musical substance". Nevertheless I will soldier on on my 64-key casio. Think he's got perfect pitch? (obviously) Sounds plenty damn elegant to me.
yeah john's right. he sounds bored. the slavic cunt. i'd cut his balls off i could. that'd teach him to be too full of testosterone. make him slow down and appreciate dynamics a bit more. what an arsehole.
I don't know what it is, there's something scary about him, the music and the atmosphere. He plays so well it looks like he's not from earth. He has the hypnotic effect. Truly amazing.
anybody that has the audacity, tenacity and skill to play this type of music has to be in another realm of human consciousness and existence. Its another dimension of human experience and living, an out of the ordinary reality. Its truly an extraterrestrial form of life.
Fabulous. How can playing of these pieces be any more clear, any faster, any more dynamic? If they can be, let all the complainers here post them on You Tube, and we will judge. I have tried for years to play these works (yes, all 4) and could not ever approach B's ease and security and artistry.
@nearenough3 For example, Richter has a faster tempo of op 10 no 4...its pretty amazing. So is Berezovsky. Its just a different approach to virtuosity
@BlazeKenny You are right, it is. I think the difference doesn't lie in the virtuosity. virtuosity is pretty much the same thing. I think if you want to find a difference, it's simply because richter plays it faster. And the piano ofc also makes a difference. Right from the start Richter pushes and forces the melody to go on, Berezovsky waits and delays it a bit. But the way they play their pieces pretty much describe their different personalities. It's actually pretty interesting.
@colourfulwithaU Well.....Besides the 14,000 wrong notes. The first Etude has no color to the different harmonic changes. In other words, he lack harmonic inflection in this piece. I think as a whole, he is just playing them as studys rather than an actual, sophisticated musical work of Chopin.
@BachFong11 maybe he is as a supervirtuoso also bored by the facility. Imagine u just played the godowskysutdies on them with also no difficulty...but of course no excuse to examine through such wonderfull pieces! but maybe we can cant blame him too much if we imgaine this ?
This coming July, from the 23rd to the 31st, the beautiful medieval Tuscan village of Pietrasanta will host the IV edition of "Pietrasanta in Concerto".
Nine exhilarating nights in the intimate cloister of Sant' Agostino where enjoy the music of leading artists such as Martha Argerich, Vadim Repin, and Boris Berezovsky, and the opening piano duo of Itamar Golan and Bishara Harouni!

He sits really high on the chair, which gives him easier access to the full range of the piano. That in conjunction with his inhumanly big hands and technique practically eliminates all sense of difficulty for him.
etude 1 is of course relatively easy for large hands but still a very controlled arm movement , wrist guidance and the entire playing mechanism needs to work...
btw i feel berezovsky is more of a virtuoso pianist than an eloquent musician, these are not exercises for the finger but emotional pieces too.. while ashkenazy, horowitz and pollini were the other way....that's what makes them legends but berezovsky still a pianist...
You should have said it's "easier than Liszt's", not "are easy" which makes totally different meaning. I agree that Liszt's Etudes are difficult but this set of 24 etudes by Chopin, including every single etude which has been rated as "quite difficult" is very subjective to say but it's okay if you meant easy for him, not for you or any and every single piano player.
very fast, very fast, But with plenty of emotion. Sense of the rythm. Jes!! Amazing. You're my favorite player from the new generation (since Rubinstein, Horowitz..)
I don't get that op. 10 n. 1. Everybody who have played that knows what I'm talking about. It's so nearly impossible to play it like that, it's just terrifying!
I don't get what is so special about phrasing.. the composer WROTE the phrase, the PHRASE is in the music.. I think people are missing the point nowadays. The expression is in the music, the vessel, or the pianist's job should be to give the piece life and play with REAL SOUND AND TONE. And the more I see all these pianists, the more I see that their hand is just hovering over the keys, sure they are not missing any notes..but WHERE IS THE SOUND?
I don't agree with any of the things you just wrote. Sorry. However this man is playing very tensely, with locked wrists and etc. My prediction is that this performance is mic'ed up. That isn't tone.
His playing on these pieces feels uninspired. He seems like he is playing this out of obligation. There is no truth or actual reason behind his playing of these pieces. Clearly he is technically stable, but musically he seems bored and makes up for it in speedy moments. I'm not saying this is bad. I'm just saying he isn't really trying to play music here.

@Ally123234 Well it is actually. With my poor english skills it's sometimes hard to produce anything that doesn't sound like arrogant kid whining just abut everything. He sounds just like every other modern Russian pianist in this repertoire. I play it with more subtlety and a lot more tonal color.
Also, is Berezovsky homosexual?

I think you are right, I wouldn't even notice if this video was named for instance "Lucas Genuishas Chopin etude...."
He is way too ugly to have a girlfriend so I think he's homosexual. But I don't think Ashkenazy is, he's a very sexually attractive man.
