This is not true, yes in some songs Loomis shreds like a beast, but so does mick from slipknot. Jeff Loomis is one of the most acclaimed guitar players in the metal world right now. He is one of the only guitarists that is a master of sweep picking(which by the way is the hardest thing to do on a guiter) and he has been classicaly trained. Listen to some other songs by him and listen to his technical and melodic lines dude. They will blow your mind, his playing is so much more than shreding.
