  • i waited till i was 26 and i was sooo happy to come out

  • what about people who have passed their highschool life and life still hasnt gotten better? im 21 i dont see any hope for the future even though im trying to.

  • I'm not quite sure what sunscribing (Annotation at the end) is but for some reason I assume it involves a chariot of some sort. :)

  • I honestly thought I was never gonna tell my family I was gay either & then last year something came over me & I did. So happy I did.

  • Why can't a straight man be this intelligent, articulate and basically perfect.

  • just bought a t-shirt!

  • i love lady gaga and i dont give a fuck what people say

  • Went to see Rise Against today out here in Norfolk and the opening for the song of Make It Stop (September's Children) they had videos of people who posted for It Gets Better and you (this vid) were one of them! Frikkan love that song, you, the It Gets Better project and all who post for it!!!! Probably one of the happiest moments in my life when the vids and the song started playing. I felt so blissful and free. So Thank You Randy and the others they used and Rise Against for a wonderful song.

  • I would marry this man.

  • I was terrified to tell my family and others that I was gay and have been in a relationship for over 3 years. Thankfully, my family has stood by my side and most others have done the same. I hate that I waited till last Sept to do so, but one can only move forward.

  • Bravo - well said!

  • You truly are an inspiration! You give me hope...

I wish that one day I will have as much courage as you to come out...

(I'm 16 and still in the closet)

  • @themusclebabes hi wish u luck there no easy way i have only came out to my sister and no one else. i am really scarred i am just getting the guts to maybe come out to my mum this week, i have been watching randy videos and starting to feel i have a bit more confidence. I hope you can find it to hopefully watching randy vidoes might help you best of luck

  • For someone who didn't want to come out of the closet, you sure are pouring it on! Not that I'm complaining! Are you going to be in the NYC area in the near future? I'd FUCK that cute ass!

  • @Ifukguyz I know that we are all guys and we know want we want and stuff, but do you seriously think that he is just going to say oh yeah please FUCK my cute ass?! There are people who look for something more serious than just a piece of ass or cock, but a whole person! If you know what I mean! I don't mean to be rude though.

  • @146juansebastian It was rhetoric you ....stupid MORON!!!

DUH! Look the word up - it's in the online dictionary!).

By the way, like your stupid ass, I didn't mean to be ......"rude"!

  • randy, you wont kill yourself or anything right? a lot of people make these videos and seem to commit suicide soon after. i think its because they didnt have anyone to tell them otherwise. so DONT do that, okay? just in case.

  • It's cool that you did a "it gets better vid." I was blessed that in an early age my family knew and despite of that still gave the love and support because in there eyes I am still that same person. I wish parents of those teenagers who are gay would just see that being does not change their child's innate attributes, i.e intellect, aptitude in thier chosen life goals. Rather helps the future of this society to have one less mental and emotional strain when they face the world as adults.

  • it's Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaandy! :)

  • You Say We Can Buy Your Shirt i Was Wondering Can I But You Instead!!! Love, Ezra (Male ) Old Enough And Proud To Say I Am Gay

  • I can't imagine anyone that really knows you turning around and not liking you once they found out. I think if you are a good person and you have strong friendships with people that once you tell them they make adjustments and realize you are still you,the person they love. If people can't do that then the problem is there's and they have to live with it

  • Woopdy frickin doo! :D That's frickin adorable!

  • You are awesome for making these videos. I'm not gay but my brother is. When he finally come out to me I said, "Duh, I've always known, even when you were a little boy." He got very happy because he realized that I have always treated him just like I treat our other brothers. It makes me sad that teenagers are willing to kill themselves over this. Thank God that there people like you telling them that it is all going to be all right. Keep up the videos!

  • I WANT YOU'RE SHIRT.

  • 2:04 got me instantly hard as a rock

  • Why does everyone keep saying it'll get better? I don't want it to be better, I need it to. I came on to my "inprivate browsing!" to look up how to kill myself which I did. Then came here to see some suicide vids but saw this in my inbox.. I don't want this life. I didn't ask for it, why the hell do I have to be the fucking fag? I'm so angry at myself! I just want a way out.

  • @HatebeingBORNthisWAY Hey i know what you are going though i never asked to be gay i just am gay i wanted to kill myself but as soon as i accepted it i dident care that a few out of like 6.5 billion dident like me you shouldent care ether if you do think about suicide call this number 24/7 866.488.7386 they will help i have tried to kill myself i never seceded and now i am glad i dident kill myself so just live your life not caring what someone else says Love, Ezra (Male) Age 15 and gay!!

  • @HatebeingBORNthisWAY Look, if you think it is bad now, imagine my growing up in the 50's! But it really did get better, and it started with my decision that it is not my fault that others don't like the way I am. I am now 66 and could give a spit what others think of me. I only wish that something like the "It gets better" project had been available when I was a kid! It really does get better if you hang in there!

  • Erm cool, thanks for sharing. Check out MY "It gets better", video on my channel! =)

  • Big guns.... /allhotandbothered. :)

  • It totally gets butter!

  • I just came out....Iwas so scared but they just said that they love me for who I am ^_^

  • Out takes=nobodies perfect!!

  • good job bro!! well said!

  • Love this! Keep up the good work, buddy!

  • I loved the outtakes :)

  • The way Randy says happy makes me incredibly happy. Please make a video where you just see how many times you can say that word.

  • as destinys child once said: i need a soldier.

  • Who is Mychael Randy?

I'm almost 37 and have had to battle mental ill

health my entire adult years (18 onward). Thanks for inspiring some hope. We aren't all teenagers under our parent's roof though (and not by choice, unfortunately).

Cheers on your Happiness and for being so Grounded and Down to Earth. You are living proof that you can be a man and be gay, (whatever defines a "man" these days).

Enjoyed the outtakes. It's great you speak from the heart!

  • Lol best outtakes evar!

  • LOL, I enjoy the "Out Takes", When I watch a movie sometimes I'll watch the Out-takes first. it lets me see the "Stars" human side. Thanks for putting up the Out-Takes!

  • Thanks for make another it gets better video after you have been courageous and came out to your parents on YouTube. Also uh I would love to see more of your "guns" ;-) haha

  • Oh my gosh, he's so ridiculous sometimes!

  • "You're gonna find out what makes you happy, and you're gonna live your life for yourself, and the only regret you're going to have is waiting so long [...] and you're truly going to realize, it gets better; it gets so great, and there was no reason to sweat the small stuff, and life is amazing" :) Awesome ^.^

  • So well grounded to be so young. I wish I had a friend like you growing up. Your parents did a wonderful job raising you. If I head back to Sydney this year i'll give you a shout. Do you scuba?

  • You're the cool person at work. I can tell.

  • You become more and more endearing to me every day.

  • I was just watching your cooking video....cracking up at all the chicks hitting on you. I don't think they know what the "It get's better" video's are about. Don't tell em...just let em dream : )

  • I waited until I was 21.

  • Some of us regret waiting until 43! But, it's better for sure! Cute outtakes!

  • You are awesome!

  • I like the outtakes :) Thanks for sharing these too!

  • I am very happy for you. Keep making those videos!

  • I love you haha

  • Randy, you make me happy.

  • It does get better...for some. Others like myself find ourselves with lost lifelong friendships, and disowned by our conservative religious fanatic parents. Being from a small town never helped matters either. I'm 34 years old and I must say that coming out was one of the worst decisions I ever made in my life, but sadly, what's done is done and you can't erase the past, no matter how much you wish you could. I'm glad things have gotten so good for you though, at least it happens for some.

  • @scooter1977 Would you really rather live a lie for someone else, just so they are pleased and therefore you are pleased too ? You don't need anyone to be happy, if others make you regret what you've 'done' then that's not the kind of people you want around you, even if it's family.. and you never 'did' anything, you only acknowledged yourself which is great. don't be acting like life's over, just surround yourself with better people

  • @RomanThatsMe Thanks for the advice Roman. I will tell you one thing though--it's easy to say you should surround yourself with better people, but its another thing to lose your friends and parents because of a choice you made over a decade ago. I have 1 or 2 good friends now that make life OK again, but no partner, and no relationship with my family who want nothing to do with the "fag". I accept who I am, but when no one else does that you care about, THAT is what makes life truly suck.

  • @scooter1977 Loosing friends and family is a really sad thing, especially if the reason is that you just want to live the way you are. However I think if you prepared to share your thoughts here and to enjoy the support that you can get here it will be possible for you to find new friends and a new "family" within the gay community. All the best!

  • You're an inspiration Randy Phillips!

  • @cautleen yea, friends are great. and i'm just finally starting to actually talk to people. I know it sounds weird haha, but im so painfully shy lol that i wouldn't talk to people not even family or at least nothing beyond "hi" now that im an "adult" :/ i do know myself a lot better and im actually talking to my family and stuff my uncle just said on New years eve that it was the most he ever heard me speak, ever! lol So it is proof that stuff gets better.

  • Remember when they made Afterschool specials on CBS tackling social issues. I remember one called WHAT IF I'M GAY made in 1987. Some stations refused to run it on account of easily "impressionable teenagagers." Times have sure changed.

  • You're a sweetheart :) Thanks for this!

  • You look pretty

  • Just warn those underagers that not everyone will have accepting parents. Coming out before you can safely manage on your own lands too many kids on the streets. Careful with facebook and even trusted but overly religious friends who just might feel obliged to out your for (ha) your own good. Downer PSA by an old nurse and mom, who's seen too many street kids--hurt, alone, worse. Not wanting anyone to have or need to be closeted--just want all kids safe everywhere and always.

  • I loved that funny stuff at the end. It's always nice to see both the serious and funny sides. :)

  • I like that you lightened this message up with some funny stuff - somtimes we take ourselves way to serriously

  • thank you for filming this video. you have no idea how much this video has helped me!

  • U're my inspiration !! <3

  • Sunscribe!! lol

  • LOVE those "Epic Guns"

  • 2:04 my favorite part! You are amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • You're amazing. I really needed this encouragement, because up until watching this video I had a pretty bleak outlook towards my future because I'm terrified of coming out to my sister (which I plan on doing this year - she will be the first family member I come out to). Thank you so much Randy for your advice, it is very greatly appreciated. :)

  • This vid's definitely gonna make alot of people cum out of the closet. XD

  • Sunscribe O.o

Well I used to wear it.. then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • Be warned! Saying "life is amazing" only applies to people whit money. Life CAN be really amazing wen we make our money system equal whit equal money. Look here: equal money . org

  • What was your teenage years like? When did you know you were gay? Before joining the military?

  • You sir are such an insperation I hope every young adult who will see this will get what they need to know it's ok to be gay. KUDOS kind sir.

  • Okay @AreYouSuprised I am just gonna say it, I HAVE THE BIGGEST CRUSH ON YOU!!!

  • you are SO CUTE

  • How's Germany on the whole gay thing? I'm thinking about moving there one day for work and I'd like to live somewhere a little more tolerant than Mayberry, NC...

  • @Jbadge315 Germany (Western -The Netherlands, UK, France, Belgium, Germany- and Northern Europe -Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway- on the whole:) is pretty tolerant in regard to homosexuality, though it still depends a little on where to live WITHIN a country. As a rule I would say that city folk are generally more accepting than town folk. But I guess that's a given for about every country. If going anywhere I feel the northern countries accept homosexuality a little more than the western.

  • @kevinbradleymaddox I know all of these countries are in theory, but have you been to any of them? I was curious for first hand experience.

  • @Jbadge315 I live in the Netherlands, and visited the others (except the Scandinavian ones). Been to Denmark. Never really experienced any problems. Though it probably depends on how... you display your sexuality ;)

  • Wow ur cool :)

  • u r so right. ppl that will like u will like u and ppl that do not will never, so 2 heck the bad ppl and just enjoy the ppl that accept u 4 who u r.

  • this is one of my favorites! :)

  • It does get better. I made a video right after the Jamey affair last year. I meant every word I said. Sad thing is not many people think as I do. All I can do is try to be there for anyone who needs support. Sadly enough I have limits to how much I can do.

  • I'd just like to say that my Freshmen year of high school was an emotional disaster for me. I hated who I was, I constantly complained about every little thing, and I would just yell at my brother for no reason. I came to terms with myself this year, and I told my best friend (who is gay) on Oct 3, 2011. I've been recently allowing the word to get around, and so far, I am a lot happier. I told my brother on Oct 30, 2011, and he made a speech for his class talking about gay rights. It gets better

  • Thank you for posting - great video great advice. It does get better :) as daunting and scary as it feels - coming out will be the best thing you ever do.

  • 'and you have acne' lol.

  • I am so glad you advertised this channel to me! I love tuning-in to your life. Please tell me that you are trying some dating. I hope you find someone that will love you, and as you do, you tell the world!

  • HEY RANDY, I THINK IT GETS BETTER IF YOU RAPE ME NOW! I LUV YA!

  • @ry522 So, trying to erase the hate, but joking about rape, still okay?

  • Comment removed

  • @cautleen who cares...

  • Dude.. i love you, Haha.. I started coming out to my friends and family right before DADT repeal (bout a month or so..). One thing i struggled with in coming out, Was realizing / having others, realize that your not gonna change you truly are, Your not going to instantly turn into a feminine guy or masculine girl.. You ARE who you.. being gay is just a part of you... Thank's for sharing your story man, I'm proud of ya, keep up the good work :)

  • thank you for your courage to make this video, as well as for your serivce

  • Randy I have watched your videos every since you came out and it's so clear how much better of a person you are now that you're out. When I saw you in the videos when you came out to your parents you looked like a wreck. Now, you look so happy and healthy, and your face fucking GLOWS. Stay strong soldier!

  • @stefanheikel he such an amazing person i love him

  • Awesome tv

  • Randy phillips encouraged me to comeout to my older brother. And that weekend i got to expirence a gay kiss without the feeling that i was going to be judged. And yes highschool really sucks.

  • THE TIDE ROLLS TOMORROW RANDY ! YEEEEHAWWWW ! GREAT videos,,my trans am is in need of a tune up job,,,,,you up for it?

  • @1988fierogt LSU!!!!!! GEAUX TIGERS!!!

  • I'm actually about to join the Navy tomorrow. I'm hoping that once I get done with my training and get to my home port that I can just kinda come out slowly and see how people react. So far only 3 of my really good friends know and they've been so great so I beleive you when you say it gets better.

  • 2:06 make sure you SUNSCRIBE :P

  • all the to need to coming out is the confidence, and you got it

  • Randy: Please accept my apology if it sounded like I demeaned your situation when you came out. That was not my intent. You had almost everything to lose by coming out. I was incredibly moved by your courage and the experiences you had. My comment was focused about the effects after some come out. The It Gets Better sometimes does not acknowledge the fact that a minority of people can have extremely negative or dangerous consequences for a while after they come out, i.e. The Therealzora.

  • Thank you Randy for being who you are. I think what you have done is seriously brave, and I have a world of respect for you. I just wish people would realize everyones different, we all like different things. If everyone was the same and liked the same things what would life be like? Life's to short, to not embrace the individual person. Who care's if your gay, straight, or Bi. this should never matter. Were all human and we all deserve to love and to be loved.

  • I think all of your supporters are waiting for a long, tangential account of how you met your boyfriend. :-)

  • Randy, are you a good kisser? coz it gets better if you kiss me..

  • Hey really enjoying your daily posts. all the best x.

  • Awesome job Randy, I've been watching your videos since last June and even though we're the same age, I look up to you. I even think we have a very close July birthday if I remember correctly. Anyway thanks.

  • (: Thank you (:

  • u are inspirational

  • I wonder it you truly grasp that fact that you are a hero to so many. Thank you for all that you do

  • big guns indeed!

  • why dont you talk about your love life? :D

  • I love your views. Im not gay, but I fully support it. Im 17, and I make music, its the only thing that keeps me sane. I feel where your coming from and I love your message. What happens happens, ya gotta keep living. If you ever have time, id love for you to check me out. No worries if you dont, ill still keep watching. We all just forget who we are sometimes. Stay true and thanks for being an inspiration. (:

  • To all of us, if anyone ever says they have attempted or are thinking about attempting suicide, let's help them! They must be taken 100% seriously. Please encourage them to get help from a counselor, teacher or any adult. The Real Zora is begging for our help. @Fckingkim, if you can, please move to a place where you can be open and yourself. It may be hard and you may not be able to do it now, but find a city that has an accepting gay community. That's what I did.

  • Sorry to disagree with you Randy, but in some places and situations, it actually can get worse for a while. Your situation was perfect, but I have seen kids get beaten up so bad they had to go to the hospital, been tormented, and have been rejected. I 100% support the It Gets Better campaign, but it is more complicated in some ways and places. Montgomery has over 200,000 people, several colleges, and other things that make it different than a small town and in Jr. High or High Schools.

  • he spelled subscribed wrong

  • @The Therealzora: Please don't hurt yourself!! I counsel kids grades 6 - 8, in a small town, and really understand your situation. Please find someone to talk to and to help you! If you're in a small community, that may be very hard. I am in a pretty accepting school in the bible belt, but kids would still be mean to someone who came out at your age. Please hang in there! In a few years you will be able to get out of where you are and go somewhere that will accept and even admire you!

  • That seemed like 2 seconds, make more pl0x

  • LOVE YOUR SHIRT!

  • @WHATTHEBUCKSHOW :) ur vids r awesome

  • @WHATTHEBUCKSHOW love your face

  • @WHATTHEBUCKSHOW omg wtb!! Love you!! ^_^

  • Great video and great outtakes!! I'm sure someone might have already said this but it says suncribe instead of subscribe at the end

  • you are so cute and your just a hottie!!! do you have a boyfriend??? x

  • I loved this video, Why is your friend always behind the camera?

  • The outtakes are the best! Thanks for putting this message out there. You are an inspiration to so many people out there. Please keep making videos. We love you!

  • It does get better people...you just have to make it that way! You are responsible for YOUR own tomorrow! ;)

  • You're a good man, Randy.

  • Very well said and you connected with your audience. Thanks

    blaine, USAF Retired

  • @AiresReno23 thanks for the support, i've been sorta waiting to see if i can find a bf first i just sorta feel like it would be a whole lot easier for me to deal with it with someone by my side but maybe that would be too much for the family to handle all at once haha

  • It does get better @HectorL360 just gotta take day by day

  • What if it doesn't?

  • @HectorL360 What if you slip and fall in the shower and break your neck? What if you choke on breakfast? Does that mean you stop showering? Stop eating?

Have hope that it does get better, and don't let the "what ifs" overwhelm. Trust me, "what ifs" will make a difficult situation so much worse... mainly because they can't be answered and will lead to even many stressful & unhappy times. Just wait until a time when you are ready and feel safe, and have hope that it will get better.

  • @jbrhill well said

  • @AreYouSuprised Thanks

  • It's really nice watching your videos. I am only outed with some friends but if people would ask me I would tell them the truth. It's just that hardly anyone ever asked. I however don't think that I should tell everyone, even those people with whom I'm not that much befriended, or should I? What do you think?

  • thanks... this video really helped, for me i already know im gay, but im only 12, so now i know its fine to stay closed up for now, but i hope later in life i will be able to come out.

  • How old were you when you came out?

  • @dac683 If you go to his highest viewed video, you can actually watch him come out. I think he's like 23.

  • @dac683 I came out Sept of 2011 when I was 21, I am still 21

  • @AreYouSuprised you are 21? you are 21? really? omg

  • Comment removed

  • I'm 21. and i NEED to come out. i'm pretty straight acting, so its not like every one knows already. I'm just afraid of being treated differently :/ and i know it does get better. Many of my friends know the last part is really the family.

  • @mrdiglet i hope everything goes well for you man! i understand how you feel. i used to be in the same boat. until i stop caring what my family feel's about me. this is one thing that i learned you can choose your Friend's and not your family. not for how you are going to use them, but who know what your heart is worth.. keep your head up man!

  • @mrdiglet The great thing about being 21 is that you are at a perfect age to know yourself, and then how to form a family of your own choosing, who will love and accept you as you are. Friends really are the family we get to pick for ourselves. Biological family can be great, or oh so complicated.

  • Fuck religion.

  • Remember. You will soon be establishing your adult life, earning your own money, creating your own circle of friends, building your own family if you want one. Your dreams will come true and the universe will give you gifts you could never have dreamed of. People will love you, respect you, trust you, look to you for leadership and give you their thanks for being there.

  • i like how he was like "and you have acne" lol

  • @ScrewTheEnvironment I had acne, never thought it would go away, still hasn't 100%

  • @AreYouSuprised Omg me too, had acne for years and still get little ones, but you face looks amazing!

  • @AreYouSuprised You're skin looks pretty damn flawless to me, bud

  • @AreYouSuprised ~ You ought to invest in a tiny ZAPPER. Look on CureZone. com under 'Dr. Hulda Clark' to learn about the benefits of zapping with a 9v battery operated zapper, & then look on eBay to source an expensive one. I highly recommend a body contact one over those that you have to hold hand electrodes, as they're restrictive & a schlep to use. Zapping kills most bacteria & critters & I truly believe that every home should have one. You'll hardly ever need to visit a doctor if you ZAP! :)

  • @AreYouSuprised OMG I hate acne, more so acne scars, they just won't fuck off. Thank you for your videos by the way, you inspired me to come out.

  • I said this many many months ago when Randy first started out (when he was first looking for subscribers) - it's really advice that I should take when it comes to my own parents - but if you make being gay a big deal, it will be a big deal. Maybe I'll make a video response explaining myself better. But nobody will make it a big deal unless you are trying to make it a big deal. It should be as big of deal as your shoe size.

  • i agree with your video and as you said... most of the time we worry more than we have to....and wondering who will accept us..... once i came out and accepted fully i am now a much happier person.....i came out as bi when i was 16 and then realized i was gay, but did not let myself accept it....once i started talking with a therapist i realized i was gay at the age of 19 and accept it....now in an amazing relationship with an amazing boyfriend!

  • Thank you again Randy. By the way, you are REALLY finding yourself with these videos! "What was that?" Very good! Who knows where it may lead?

    LEE

  • I came out to my small-minded school in Western PA back when I was in 9th grade, now, as a senior, my school is completely changed and everyone is okay with it (family doesn't know, yet except sister). It does get better for some strange reason >.>

  • I love your shirt.

  • @AreYouSuprised You really are hot though

  • Very inspirational. Great video and advise to everyone.

  • CAN I GIVE YOU A BIG HUG AND TELL YOU THANK YOU?! :D

I'm a girl in high school. i'm questioning my sexuality and it's true. I feel so scared to even admit to people that i might like girls.people know.for the most part it's been good responses, but still :/ what i'm most scared of though? Is actually deciding on the fact that i am gay and all the stuff that i'm gonna deal with after that along with just being a teenager.so thank you Randy for telling me that if i am gay, that i will be okay :)
