  • sighthounds are not dumb, just aloof. Just asked my Borzoi to get off settee for me to sit down, and he gave me the eye of disdain and acted dumb!

  • Borzoi all the way but i still love border collie

  • Border collie wins... But Borzoi are the prettiest, coolest, and most cute! 8D

  • I vote for the borzoi

  • Great training!

  • I vote for Borzoi, my favourite breed! :) x

  • Your borzoi is great, but I think any competition with a border collie is unfair. As with your BC, he seemed to anticipate your next move and command before you gave it and positioned himself properly to pull it off. Border collies dominate in obedience, agility, freestyle, frisbee, ....... The only thing they can't win is Best in Show" at dog shows. I think some judges have jealousy issues.

  • @jagmorr

Its a good thing that they don't win best in show, it means they aren't all clones of each other like most dog breeds. I love that border collies were bred to work and thus all look a bit different. It's a crying shame that they're now a recognised AKC breed :(

  • i thought sight hounds were dumb... ...

  • The borzoi did the tricks better then the border collie (especialy the trot) so my vote is for my favorite dog breed: The BORZOI!!

  • border collie for the win!

  • I vote for The Border collie cuz he did more tricks.

  • Cute! I love the Borzoi! I want to know, how were they trained? How much time was spent on each dog? Did the Borzoi have any different type of training before? Such different breeds, am curious as to how that effected the outcome. Great job!!

  • Glad you enjoyed and thank you! :-)

The Borzoi is now 6 yrs and BC is 3 years. They were both trained with the "clicker". They have both been trained since they were babies and know "how to learn"- and in a very fun and positive way! :-)

  • border collie wins the day

  • Border Collie wins (though I'm biased on this... Haha.) but the Borzoi was beautiful. Looked like a dressage horse when she/he trotted! :) Wonderful work!

  • ! wow

    I'm impressed =)

Borzoi is as good as border collie :D

  • border collie wins but borzoi looks cool!

  • Border collie wins, of course! They are the best and I love how they do everything they've learned with such determination to do well.

    Borzoi was cute, too!

  • I vote for Borzoi too, it's awesome. :)

  • Yes,I agree to vote for those amazing Borzois too.

  • Borzoi wins by a nose!

  • I vote for the Borzoi. It's an amazing Borzoi to be in competition with a BC at all!

I LOVE the jumping and paw over paw tricks. Perfect for showing off the elegance.

  • i got a female border collie(10 weeks old) i hope she will do nice tricks like ur dogs =D

  • I know it takes time, I am already giving him treats when I put the collar and when he goes further on the street, but he never relaxes... if you have any tips for me, I`ll be REALLY thankful!

    Thanks!

  • Hello again! I am now with a male borzoi! And he is sooo sweet, very good boy. I didn`t have to teach him where his "bathroom" would be, he found a better spot than I could think of.

I`m just having a hard work to get him used to go to the street, coz he came from a calmer area (sorry for any language mistakes, I`m brazilian!). He is scared of everything. AND he`s not exactly used to using his collar.

  • How old is your new Borzoi? Glad he is a sweet and good boy! If he has not had any socializing before he came to you, he has a lot of adjusting to do. Have you heard of "clicker training"? I highly recommend getting a book and there are even video's on it. Let me know how it goes!

  • He is 4.5months old, still a puppy! =]

Happy to say that since my last comment I've made a lot of progress! He is going to the street with me, and I introduced my friends sweet female Golde Retriever, and they've played a lot! (I'll post a video of them) I managed to teach him to sit, but I still have a lot of doubts. For example, I'm ttrying to teach him these things, but since he's been with me for only 9 days, I'm not sure if it's clear for him that I'm his leader already, you know?

  • Make training all about play... and remember.. dogs will repeat what they get rewarded for! So, just reward (toys, pets, food, or a happy voice telling him how awesome and clever he is!).. and no rewards for things you do not want. HAVE FUN!

  • I heard about the clicker training! I'm not sure I'll find it her in Brazil, but I'll look for it.

My actual problem is that he doesnt follow me very well, and since it's about a borzói, being firm and dominant, like people advise us usually, doesn't "click" that well you know? That's why I'm not sure if he got that I'm his leader. Because he obbeys me inside the house, but not much on the streets...

  • You can order a clicker, books, videos online. :-) In training dogs you want to create a "communication" vs "obey" type of language. If you want your dog to come to you, follow you, heel, .. make yourself exciting by running in the opposite direction with a squeaky toy, squeak and throw it.. have him chase it, then squeak and throw another toy running in the other direction- in other words make it a game!

  • that borzoi is one of the ogliest things to walk the face of this planet

  • Both dogs are amazing!

  • Aaah, cute video! I vote for the Borzoi! Hopefuly I'll get a Borzoi this next week! Just waiting for the confirmation! What do you think is better to discipline, a male or a female??

  • Hi - Thank you, glad you enjoyed! :-) With regards to training and which sex is easier to work with.. .it really just depends on the individual vs the sex. I will look forward to hearing of your new Borzoi when you get him or her!

  • wonderful video Debbi!! I love your dogs and your videos so much! You are an amazing dog trainer and are a great inspiration to me!

    I love all the tricks!

Can I vote for both Borzoi and Border Collie? I cant choose, they're both amazing :D

    5*****

  • Well both of them are terrific, as is their trainer! They are lucky dogs

  • I vote border collie. I like them, and Borzoi's look SO awkward...! but they do look quite agile...!!

  • I vote for borzoi. I used to have borzois for over 12 years. Borzoi is hard to train. Both dogs are good. But if we are talking about competition, so I vote for borzoi. Love the style.

  • Hurray for Tia and Bolt! I loved them both! Border Collie are naturals with canine freestyle. I was surprised to see the Borzoi did so much. I am impressed because Borzoi are difficult to train. I vote for both.

  • Oh what a lovely video. I have a borzoi myself (Black&Tan) here in Sweden. This video is great.

  • Personally, I greatly appreciated the calm, balance and focus of both dogs. (There are enough manic border collies out there already!) IMO it's a good rule of thumb for the dog(s) to be working harder than the trainer - if not, it's easy to get suckered into doing more and more while the dog is doing less and less. We're the ones with the opposable thumbs - we don't *need* to sweat (unless we want to). ;o)

  • Well, for my money the borzoi wins on style points. But I have to admit to being a wee bit biased against BCs - wonderful dogs as they can be. :o)

  • its got to be the borzoi as i own one i love them.my dog does doggie dancing and canine freestyle

  • What a BEAUTIFUL borzoi! As a borzoi rescue person, I HAVE to vote for the hound...but I gotta say, you HARDLY give your bozo equal time on the video. OF COURSE the BC is gonna win - he got about 70% of the video! ;-)

  • THANK YOU so much for the compliments on my Borzoi! She may not have had quite the equal time- but what time she had she made very good use of ;-) LOL She got even at the end by saying SHE taught him everything he knows!

    They keep me smiling! :-)

  • Magnifique!!! Bravo.

  • collies kick ass mines absolutly mental u can take him 4 an hour and a half walk we get home he has a kip 4 20 mins then hes ready to go again!!! lol

  • I am very impressed with the Borzoi, you dont often see then doing tricks like that lol. however as a Border Collie freak, my vote is gonna have to go to the BC lol

  • BORZOI!!!!! BORZOI!!!!

Great job with the two of them! i have shelties and a 3 legged borzoi all of which are involved in performance sports :)

  • borzoi! i was wondering i have a greyhound, would it be able to learn canine freestyle if i took it to classes? she is smart but easily distracted lol such a sighthound

  • my Borzoi thanks you for the vote! :-) yes, your greyhound can learn to do canine freestyle! She will love it I can bet! You will build a relationship that will keep her interest in "you" vs other distractions! It is so much FUN!

  • lol so she wont be taking off after a small insect instead of concentrating? lol awesome

  • Another vote for the borzoi!

  • I vote for the Border Collie!! My sister has Borzoi (4) and I have 2 Border Collie boys, Danny and Beau. GREAT training, I am impressed!!

  • AMAZING!!! I vote for the Borzoi :D

  • Vote for Borzoi with all my paws :)

  • Border Collie, because I also got one ;-)

  • I'm gonna vote for the borzoi as a fellow owner of dog breeds not commonly seen in things such as canine freestyle. It's nice to see some diversity! I love borders but every now and then I want to see something different.

  • I vote for Border collie :)

  • Border collie! but that was a pretty smart zoi, Ive always loved zoi, but was told by many breeders they're "face biters" if you try to make them do something they don't want to...

  • I'm sorry to hear you've been told they are face biters. I would guess any large breed would have a person's face as the prime target since that is closest to their mouth... just as a small breed of dog would have legs ankles available to them.. if they were to bite.

  • When I train my dogs I don't make them do anything. If they don't "get" what I am training them, I get "creative" in how I can go about getting them to do whatever it is I am working on. It is about "communication". We are a "team" and I am their team "leader". Actually alot of what they do is actually things they have created themselves, that I have liked! They really are very clever! We just have fun! That is what it is all about!

  • Yeah thats how I keep my training, positive! if its not fun they won't wanna do it. There are no Borzoi i the AKC with an ODX title, so thats always been my goal :) I think borzoi are stunning and I still want one.

  • border collie

  • Border Collie! I have a Borzoi also but hands down the BC is a more willing worker and the Zoi just dosent seem to care about much, unless you call "couch potato a job:):) Good job to the handler!

  • Borzoi all the way - I owned one (rather it owned me) highly intelligent and good at tricks but got bored with repetitive tasks!

  • Border Collie All the way!, i could use some tips too, haha

  • its a tie!!

  • Awesome, its a tie!

  • Bravo!

  • Sorry Sandy but its a no brainer-Borzoi wins!

  • Borzoi!!!
