this instructor is amazing, very stern and gentle at the same time. And the baby did amazingly. This was one of the baby swimming videos that I cringed least at.
Absolutely amazing! That child was not being "manhandled". If she was afraid or didn't enjoy being there, she would have been fussing rather than swimming in that relaxed manner. I would prefer that my baby learn how to float on her back as opposed to drowning. Being able to swim is imperative.
It is scary to watch, but it's incredibly necessary to teach infants how to swim and get them used to the sensation of floating. It's the fear of water and drowning that causes people to eventually forget to kick their legs and keep themselves afloat, which is how people drown every day. I think this video is amazing because it shows really the instinct that we're born with to keep ourselves alive. That baby knows exactly what to do to keep herself afloat. I think it's pretty amazing personally.
@YourAverageGuy53 They teach you how to swim, float, roll over in the water, etc. This is the beggining of the class's. First you learn how to float, then roll over and float, then swim to the side.
I don't get why babies have to be taught this at such a young age....if you're afraid your kid might jump in the pool without you knowing, then you're obviously not paying any attention to them.
You people are ignorant and obviously can't read. She is in swim class with a professional teacher and many people overlooking her. Dumbasses, I swear. IT IS INDEED ONE OF THE MOST BRILLIANT IDEAS IN THE WORLD T O TEACH THEM TO SWIM AT A YOUNG AGE TO PREVENT DROWNING. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY GO INTO THE DISTRESSED MODE WHEN THEY FALL IN? BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! Idiots.
@Lina9010 It SEEMS that way, but what this man is doing is simulating a real accidental fall into the water. Obviously, the child is not in distress, she is learning a very crucial and lifesaving technique. I have two children of my own and wish I would have known about this when they were little. Surely if I have another, they will be exposed to this.
@blessedlovejahgives I understand that...but still. Don't you think he was too rough with her? It seems like he was treating her like you'd throw a sack of potatoes into your car.
i understand the reason behind this, because if you weren't WATCHING your child and they fell in a pool they would float till you rescue them, but don't you think you need to show them some kind of affection after do its more rewarding and not so scary. i think mom or dad should be in the water with the child and as the trainer does the flips the parent should always be there to show comfort and let the child know who will always save them.
@twins2588 Nooo that would take the attention off the actual goal (which is to learn to swim) and besides mommy and daddy wouldn't be there when the baby falls into the water. I'm sure she gets lots of hugs and kisses after. No need to suffocate your child the real world is always scarier and they need to self loothe anyway.
The diffrent ways he threw her in the water shows that in any way she falls she will still have a way of surviving.By flipping in,getting pushed by accident,..etc.This will teach them how to survive for more then five mins if needed to.So those people who think this is bad it's actually good. They are preparing and training if they get pushesed in the pull.
I wasn't a fan of that last one...he slammed her face into the water...does he know what a belly flop feels like...imagine that on your face!! Otherwise this is remarkable! Such a strong baby!
@hcbabyjourney They're instructed to do that. It's to train her to roll over and float for atleast bare minimum of 2 minutes, incase she fell in, or got pushed in. At such a young age, theres plenty of stories where children die each month from water accidents, better to learn to float for a bit than to just die.
Very nice job, i have done the same way to teach kids to swimm in footed pajamas, then next month two pajamas one on another, and next month three PJ's, and all the way to 5 PJ"s. Then next task, in realy thin liqud mud, the same way in footed pajamas, from one to five Footed pajamas in the mud, it's heavy, and thet learn to get out from the mud, and they are build their muscules.
this is retarded, without this suit filling up with air she would drown
