No matter what scene Colin and Bradley are doing, they have major chemistry, acting is always perfect and so moving, it is incredible to find this often.
though I'm glad they cut those scenes (don't really fit in context) I don't think the father one is completely weird. Arthur and Merlin have never talked about who Balinor really was, so when Merlin says "my father" Arthur doesn't think Balinor like we do, he just thinks "Merlin's Father," which works.

@MissShaoHuan but if it had been in the context of that episode it was kind of relevant as that was the Aithusa episode, where merlin saves the dragon egg, and his father was a dragon lord so yeh :p
@MissPendragon333 But it still would have been out of context for the whole series of Merlin and their own relationship development. Still, such a lovely scene ... sigh.
Arthur + #Merlin = in Love; proof: Arthur gave Merlin his mother's Sigil even before he thought to give his ring (with Merlin as the middle man) to Guinevere. #Merthur
WHY IS THE SCENE WITH THE SIGIL THINGIE GONE??? How can they write one of their best scenes ever(unf all the unspoken emotions) and then cast it all away!! :(
I REALLY think they should have kept that 4x04 scene. It doesn't really make that much sense, because there's no indication beforehand that Arthur knew Merlin's father was dead. The last Merlin spoke of his father was before they met Balinor, and Merlin said he only had a little memory of him when he was a child.
However ... couldn't they have just tweaked the dialogue a little? Cos that scene was BEAUTIFUL!!!! </3
@LadyMagiccc 'It was here that I last saw my father' - which doesn't make much sense since Merlin obviously refers to Balinor (from episode 02.13), but Arthur never knew that Balinor was Merlin's father (he only knew that he was a dragonlord). That's probably the main reason why the scene didn't make the final cut.
the sigil is a Mockingjay, MOTHER OF GOD lol

@soundsofmelancholy Yeah. I do love this scene it's lovely but if they had aired it I would have been annoyed at the lack of consistency.
MissShaoHuan 3 months ago
It's like they filmed this with Arthur and Merlin having previously had a chat about how Balinor was his father... odd.

Oh my gosh, these two scenes were wonderful! It's such a shame that great moments like these end up having to be cut.
