@savagepersonified lol you're not a very clever or rational boy are you.
Both these men gave the world a phenomenal performance the likes of which will live through the pages of history. These men are heroes. Congratulations to Nadal for being the better man on that court that day and to Federer for being a worthy adversary, and for not crying about it.
Nadal was whipping that backhand during this final - I hope he looks back at this, sees it, and starts giving Djokovic a taste of his own backhanded medicine.

Nadal is on steroids, it is the worst kept secret in tennis and finally he got publicly called out on it by ex-Grand Slam champion Yannick Noah. Without that doping cheater Nadal, Federer would have won 2008 Wimbledon, 2009 Australian Open, and 2006, 2007, 2011 French Open. It sickens me that Federer is getting cheated out of Grandslams by this muscled up cheater. But the ATP will protect Rafa because they think he is too big to fail. Federer and Djoker are skinny as hell but Nadal=Barry Bonds
the whole point beginning at 4:13 is nice. rafa doesn't play only long topspin shots.
i think they are both quite equal. federer won more titles, but rafa is younger and maybe will get also 16 Grand Slams. let's see. but both are already a part of tennishistory. i think rafa vs. roger is the most epic fight in tennis history. we should be lucky to see two great players in the same decade.
Ladies and gentlemen the greatest baseline match of all time. Wimby 08 was a litte of everything. But here the baseline rallies were stuff God couldnt even do!
the thing is most people love one and hate the other player but each player would not be as great if they didnt have each other, they both push each other to play great
the only ones who think Nadal is the best are the spanish LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!,,, best ever are Roger Feder, experts say so, mmm and Pete Sampras from USA!!!! eeee lol
@laaarsn lol yes well i was far when i say that just people from spain haha, but yeah rafa is great even I like his spin OMG hehe amaizing, but ok i meant roger is more followed in the world =) just that hehe and roger will be the best ever until someone in 100 years can born more skilled than him, well thats my opinion hehe cheers Mr. cheers to norway
@paohdz10 nah....from Canada here. Not only do I think Rafa is better than Roger now, I also think he will be regarded as better when we look back on their careers. Although I must say, Rafa has so much time left, and so much more to achieve. Should be fun to watch him play in the years to come!! Huge Rafa fan here and I'm not Spanish, nor do I live in Spain. People like Rafa from all over the world, there's no doubt about it!
@mirrorzedge523 Its a shame that people like you waste your time to bad mouth people that critized someone you don' even know. It's a shame that people (or trolls) like you can't see the truth about the doped Spaniard.
@msouzafon1 Oh so do you actually have evidence that Nadal dopes or are you just repeating what you heard from someone else. Believe me, if Rafa ever doped, the ATP would find out and expose him. He's received more random drug tests than nearly every other player on tour. But if you have proof, send me the link. I'd love to see it.
i think injury free nadal could go and match or even beat federers record nadals record against federer is very good but a lot of the matches have been on clay to be fair but nadal seems to get to federer when they play probably because federer just cant get the better of him but federer is truly great as well just a joy to watch them play each other..........
@mousavsm - I wrote that before Nadal won the French.... but it looks like he's here to stay! Federer's reign may be over as he keeps losing to low-seeded players.
Im gonna have huge respect for Nadal if he wins anything important from now on. This is not a normal injury he's facing. It's a career threatening injury...isn't it weird that a guy takes a 3-month break from tennis, then comes back in the new season (seemingly better as ever - like against Davy in Doha final) and after like 8-10 matches he catches another injury. THAT is scary. Although I don't like his style, it's just too one-dimensional for me, best of luck Rafa. Tennis/Federer needs him.
@89Pleasek Becareful what you ask for LOL, oh he's back and better than ever! Number 1 again, another slam, record for masters 1000 titles. Rafa is back on the throne and ready to rock. If you look at the rankings and how they work, Federer isn't going to see number 1 for a while....a long while, oh wait, barring another injury of course....
Federer does push himself hard. It just doesn't seem as brutal because they have completely different playing styles. Nadal plays very very physically and Federer glides around the court.
The results are in front of us. Fed has 16 and still extremely fit and on top.
Nadal is quickly fading after a phenomenal 2008 year. He pushed himself so hard in that year his knees just couldn't take it anymore. C'mon Rafa! Adjust your playing style and come back.
I think one of the reasons why Nadal was "better" than Federer was because he pushed himself, hard. The results are obvious, if Federer pushed himself as hard as Nadal does, he'd win more but the cost are his knees. What's impressive is that Federer's record was from mostly skill. That is why he is considered best of all time. Nadal has already dropped out of Australian Open, he's electrifying on the court, but he needs a year's rest to recover at least.
The tentative part is probably b/c he really can't let his guard down against Rafa. Plus Rafa tends to extend rallies longer than he needs to i feel. It's not really just the shot selection, but several times i felt he had oppurtunities to finish it off. It happens to fed too, and a lot of players. that's life i guess.
My coach says that Roger was a bit tentative in this match. During some of the rallies in the highlights, I can see a that tentative shot-making up until he hits winners.
@manco82 Don't be upset that he got raped. It's OK and please don't say it's unfair because Rafa was in control the whole way through if you could not see.
Federer actually helps Nadal in this match by feeding back topspin to Nadal. The flat ball hitters make it harder for Nadal to hit with ton of spin and length. Nalbandian, Del Potro, and Davydenko being perfect examples. RG is clearly higher bouncing though.

Federer actually helps Nadal in this match by feeding back topspin to Nadal. The flat ball hitters make it harder for Nadal to hit with ton of spin and length. Nalbandian, Del Potro, and Davydenko being perfect examples. RG is clearly higher bouncing though.
