It would also seem that there is a double entendre there, on the part of Dulli, in writing this song, since there is also the skin trade and the forty dollar price of the love that's for sale. Cocaine does not usually come in forty dollar packets.

The 'love' that is being referred to in the song is code for
cocaine. Read an interview that Dulli did when they were doing press for Powder Burns. Dulli mentioned that in New Orleans, undercover cops worked as bartenders, so when someone wanted to procure cocaine, they used the word 'love' as code.
