i just listened to nas rap over this in a simple loop. all the cursing, nigga this & shit that. sad, sad, sad to hear a sweet song desecrated. yes, younguns get to hear a traditional fav, albeit warped & heavily looped, but i can't help but feel the simple sentiment of this song that was loved by so many people goes totally over their heads. i'm talking STRATOSPHERE-over-their-heads. this was our legacy. you mean to tell me THAT stuff i just heard will pass for a legacy too? hello? dr kevorkian?
@btinsley1 hip hop is a lagicy man, when you cant aford all the expencive music makeing equitment, you get an mpc and make music that others can realate with. that is hip hop.
@TheIzzlDogg: Really? Let me break it down to you. I can't relate to (abject) vulgarity in music. That is NOT what defines a legacy yo. The slection you refer to is nothing more than sheer modern-minstrel-work whose "product" makes the world fail to take us seriously & perpetuates the belief that we are illiterate and persons to be feared. The product you are now listerning to does not demonstrate illiteracy, nor fear, and speaks of heart-felt intent....THAT my friend IS a legacy.
@btinsley1 you cant relate, and no boday sed you had to. dont be a women about it. this music dose not click with me, but i dont critisize it. and words are words. its your choice if you make it profain. and hip hop is not "modern- minstrel work" real hip hop is not ment for radio. like i sed its a thrive to be creative and make music that a simular caluture can relate with.
@TheIzzlDogg: i AM on a post i can relate to. it is you who cannot see the plain truth in front of you. if you can't handle the truth, then you cannot educate me-a man that came well before your years & has heard more music than you ever will. i can learn from a child, but not from an individual who is in perpetual denial. you are in denial son. making words profane is not my "choice' as you mistakely asserted. words are either clean or profane. re-read your post & accept the truth bwaa.
@btinsley1 wow man. what your saying is opinion NOT fact. and try to sound as intaluctaual as you want, your statements are not that powerful. Go ahead and call me a kid. i dig where your coming from and respect it. now you being the big intelligent civilized adult you potray, id expect you to try to respect hip hop and not discrace it.
@TheIzzlDogg ...i agree...some people just cant accept evolution...like when adults say " back in the day we use to do this and that...etc " ...well this is not back in the day and things change...thats life...but the fact is that this song was used as inspiration for nas and whoever sampled it...both are classics in their own time...
I wore out my 45 RPM, I still have it, but it is so worn. I catch myself singing this tune over and over, and both parts... Jean Carne sang a beautiful song for her child. Infant Eye's so deep. Check it out if it is on youtube
I bought this album while attending college. I loved this song then; and now. Ms. Jean Carn and Michael did this song right. Thank you Mr. Norman Conners and thank you too SMOTH1PRODUCTIONS!
An eternal all year long, all life long classic by the great Norman Connors featuring Michael Henderson and Jean Carne. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
so does this mean frankie beverly & maze sampled this on golden time of the day, of course he did, omg so many artists have this, so now i have stumbled upon the original!!!!!!!!!
my dad had this lp back in the day, and i've had my own copy for a few years now.....norman connors was blessed not only as a good drummer, but he had the tools to spotlight new talent such as jean carn as michael henderson as well!!
This takes me back to when I was a youngster back in the day I remember My Mom and my Aunt bumping this album all the time when we had family pool parties back in the day.
Can anyone possibly download Norman Connors' You are everything, everything is you featuring Eleanor Mills? I'm dying for it and can't find it anywhere. Pleeeeaaase!
from work,I sang this to my wife's voice mail. 26 married valentines
