I have an LG Viewty, and I reckon i've dropped it about 60 times since I bought it, and it just seems to bounce on the side and roll across the floor rather than break apart/battery falling out/slideo n the screen etc, and considering it's got a powerful camera in it, it handles impacts very well, My screen is a bit scratched from my keys being in the same pocket as my phone though.

Its not indestructable. I dropped it back in october after a week of having it and the screen completely smashed. I dropped it from about a foot, not that high.

well my friends have gone thru about 3/4 of these phones and on mine the up touch button has stopped lighting up and 2 scratches have appeared today after being in my pocket with only my keys. scratch resistant i dont think so.

Yes as long as you do not stray from the tempered glass on the screen it does not scratch even with high pressure and the end of a paperclip or even a pin! Believe me I've tried. However if you are going to try sandpaper make sure you only rub the glass and not the sides or the button in the middle as the rest of the phone WILL scratch. ONLY the glass on the screen is immune.

The iPhone screen is also pretty scratch proof like this, but perhaps not as shock proof.

I'm actually stuck between the iPhone and the Secret as well...really don't know which to go for.

The main benefit to the Secret is the camera and video capabilities though. And its certainly an extremely solid phone, I've seen both in person and I'd say the LG feels more solid than the iPhone.

In functionality, the iPhone beats the LG in every way except for the camera. iPhone also has wifi, LG does not

As an alternative, may I suggest getting the secret and a ipod touch? That way you get almost every feature between them but the good thing about the secret is you can buy it unlocked and are not forced into a 3G data plan subscription or locked into the carrier for 2 years.

I really like the quality of the video on the secret...its hard to let it go...

Just wanted to follow up with you! Well I said I saw the iPhone in person but that was at the store or a friend's iPhone (2G). Now that I own the iPhone it is a completely different story! In my opinion the iPhone is superior overall. The secret is a very good phone, the iPhone is a GREAT phone.

I can't speak for the call quality yet though :/ .

I'm speaking of the iPhone 3G. If I have time maybe I'll even post a very quick video review comparing the 2 (no promises!) before I sell the secret..
