2) The Dodge most likely has high gears in it, diesel produce enough low end torque that low gears usually aren't required, now truck trannys are geared differently than cars so having a 3.55:1 is low for a car but mid-high for a truck

2) I never said anything about low gears, i said it would put down more torque, which it does, because it is meant for towing. A longer race and the mustang would have won.

5 speed tranny is 1-2-3 = power gears 4-5 = cruise gears 6 speed 1-2-3-4 =power gears 5-6 cruise gears, deisels on the other hand have power in all gears because there all big ratio to make it so it can reach peak power and have the best towing ability combine that with 4.27 and up rear end its going to to reach 0 60 in halk the time of most cars and not to mention they achieve full torque at 1500 rpm so if your quick at shifting you can take off like a rocket in a turbo diesel gotta love em

a few things to note about fairness:
1) the dodge's exhaust was going straight into the intake of the mustang, meaning it gets no oxygen, and hence no power

5 speed tranny is 1-2-3 = power gears 4-5 = cruise gears 6 speed 1-2-3-4 =power gears 5-6 cruise gears, deisels on the other hand have power in all gears because there all big ratio to make it so it can reach peak power and have the best towing ability combine that with 4.27 and up rear end its going to to reach 0 60 in halk the time of most cars and not to mention they achieve full torque at 1500 rpm so if your quick at shifting you can take off like a rocket in a turbo diesel gotta love em

@Tdubbyount Ford did not design any part of the 5.9L ISB or the 6.7L ISB. The 5.9L was designed in the early 1980's for use in farm machinery, construction equipment and marine applications. The 6.7L is just a continuation of the proven 5.9L platform. Up until the 6.7L "Powerstroke", ford didn't even design their own light-duty diesel engine opting to contract with International/Navistar to supply diesel engines for their Superduty lineup.

@TheMcKibbin wrong. Cummins is their own company. Ford never had anything wot do with cummins except a contract to put a Cummins engine into their F550's and bigger. Just like dodge doesnt own or design cummins, they have their contract to put the cummins in their 3/4 and 1 ton pick-ups. the original and every ford up until the 6.7L stroker, was International. the new 6.7 ford is an actual FORD motor. duramax is Izusu, the 6.5 and 6.2 chevys were Detroit diesels.

@Tdubbyount Ford currently owns 0% of Cummins. At a point in not so recent history(early 1990's), Ford bought about 10% of the publicly traded shares of Cummins and had a member on it's Board of Directors. Cummins has since(1997) reacquired those shares and as such, Ford no longer owns any Cummins stock nor has any participation on it's Board of Directors. I.E., Ford does not own Cummins.

@TheMcKibbin also, Cummins is used in may different applications, in Komatsu heavy equipment, marine applications, PACCAR which is Peterbilt and Kenworth semi trucks who have now developed their own engine. Western Star/Freightliner semis, which are a part of Daimler Chysler now. Some older GM 4 ton trucks and bigger. also Detroit Diesel was a part of GM back when the 2 stroke diesels were in semi trucks. and even as i mentioned, pre-Dmax chevys and GMC's were Detroit Powered, 4 stroke D's tho.
