See, everyone says they weren't this funny in the books--but come on! Mervyn Peake described them all so ridiculously and made all of their actions so ironic and idiotic, I found myself chuckling throughout the novel. I think this film is spot-on.
i love how easily Steerpike recovers from being used as a punching bag and goes right back into being his magnificent bastard self again ....it's almost inspiring
I actually found myself sympathising with Steerpike in the books, and though the books have a lot less humour in them than does this adaptation, the actors are incredibly well cast.
I don't remember Rottcodd being a Captain...

This is one of the most bizarre things I have ever watched! It is only really topped in bizarreness by Burn After Reading!!

This is so freakish yet I'm loving it. My favourites are the twin sisters and of course the machiavellian hero himself. :D
