I'm so glad you made this review! I was looking for a review on these exact three brushes and I was happy to see it was you because I totally respect your opinion. I, personally use the 217 to apply crease color and the 222 to blend them. I was just wondering whether or not I should get the 224, but I think I'm going to opt against it beause I'm not really into "light washes of color."

how do you keep your 217 in the same shape as when it was bought? I just bought mine and I put it back in the MAC packaging to keep the shape and it just flared out every where. I am going to take it back tomorrow.

Don't mess around with 222 unless you reload. Just get a .223 and get it over with

My 1st MAC brush is the 217, I like it better than the 222 and the 224 because since the bristles are more densely packs you can also apply color with it. The other two not as much. Also ya same I washed my last night some bristles stick out help!

@Grievousig101 try the brush guard, I use it and my brushes all look brand new, after I wash my brushes I slip the brush guard on them and let them dry in it and they look just like new. They're pretty cheap too, I paid like 50 cents for one and like $1 for the large kabuki size one. check it out, I bet you'll love it.

i just got a 217 and washed it...and its a bit scraggly..if that makes sense..some of the bristles on the side stick out a bit..will it taper or become more dome shaped as i continue to use it? or could it be defective?

I am all for the 222 the 224 is a bit to big for me but it is great for light work as you said but you can do that with the 222 as well! I find the 217 to be good for a deeper crease look like placing color and the 222 and 224 for blending the crease color out! I hope this helps some people! 217 for placing and 222 & 224 for blending!!

i use the 224 for my concealer. its very soft and covers well. i use the 217 for paint, paint pots and applying color to the crease. i also have a 223 brush. it is like the 222 but is two toned. it was from the Raquel Welch collection. dont have a use for it. any tips?

I wouldn't concider the 217 as a blending brush.. more a crease brush. The 222 and 224 are brilliant blending brushes.

be very careful with making MAC purchases on Ebay, especially brushes. There are so many counterfeit brushes and MAC products on Ebay. If you check the Specktra forum, there's a guideline on identifying fake items. Hope that helps!

I bought mac's 224, I hardly use it but it has splayed a lot, it's no longer tapered and now I have no idea what to do with it. I doubt it's how I store it, as I store it upwards in a container, like how the MAC stores do.

Oh that lipstick you are wearing is Oh so fall. Love it on you! I have the 217 and the 224, I love the 224 for fading out and blending out harsh lines, but I love the 217 for putting color in the outer corner and blending it in nicely.

You can clean them after each makeup application (the dirty ones) with a brush cleanser so they will dry easily, and wash them depending on need maybe once a week.

i have the brush cleanser but i read the directions and it said to put it on a damp brush and then work through it and then rinse... will in damage my brushes if i just put it on a paper towel and mipe my brushes on it between uses? i didnt want to mess up my brushes.

I just have the 217, because I have smallish eyes, and I found I can be kind of more specific with the stiffer brush. But I like the idea of something softer to apply light washes. Might have to go and try out that 224. Thankyou! :)

I got the 217 first based on a MAC associate's advice, and I love it. For the same reasons you said, I don't use my 224 as much. It spreads stuff around too much. Now I want the 222 lol. Cuz yr always using it...

The 224 was my first Mac brush and I loved it, but then I got the 217! I use the 217 to place the colour and blend a little but then continue to blend with the 224. My all time favourite face brush is the 182.....better than sex and chocolate! :)
