There are some very ignorant comments on this video. I used to use PP for my OB/GYN checkups when I was unemployed and had no insurance, and the staff there was always highly professional. planned Parenthood in an important lifeline for thousands of women (and men) who cannot afford reproductive health care from any other source. Defined PP, and I GUARANTEE that the death rates from Breast and Cervical Cancer will skyrocket (after all, where else can the working poor go to be diagnosed?)

This is PPH's 2007-2008 financial report. It shows that the total revenue is $374.7 mil, and that 305,310 abortions were done.  It also shows $349.6 mil in federal funds.

Type "in-clinic-abortion-procedures­­­-4359.asp" in Google

This shows the costs of abortions by PPH, which by average is $650. $650 multiplied by 305,310 is $198.5 Mil. So, Abortions account for 53% of their total revenue

But they are funding Planned Parenthood to bypass that law. It just shows a complete disrespect for the law. Another part of the issue is that Americans are very divided on the morality of abortion to begin with. Senator Kyle claimed that 90% of what they do is abortions, but if you look at 2007 they performed about 289,000 abortions and 10,250,000 other services. Also, even if abortions count for 53% of their revenue, that doesn't relate to how much money they get from the government, nor does it relate to the percentage of abortions performed.

Clearly abortions are far costlier than any other service that they have. Thus a large chunk of the government funds are going to go to those getting abortions who cannot afford it themselves. The real point is that the government cannot legally fund abortions. Even if 1 abortion is funded by the government, that is still going against the law.

@Mattgasq You're confusing revenue with net income. If abortions are 53% of their total revenue. That means that 53% of the money they make (not get from the government) comes from abortions. Abortions at planned parenthood cost the client $650 dollars. Not the government.

The financial report didn't specify exactly how many abortions were federally funded and how many were not. Again, you entirely miss the point. Abortions cannot legally be federally funded. The government is breaking the law. The government is forcing tax-payers to pay for something that many of which believe is morally wrong.

So, unless you can prove that the cost of abortions exceeds the revenue from abortions paid for by clients, or any donations / fundraisers so that logically they must get that money from the government. Then you have no case. You can't make accusations based on assumptions.

3. Wrong. The government is providing funding for Planned Parenthood, and nne of the services that they provide is abortions. But, that is not their only source of income. So *you can not assume* that government money is being funneled into those services. It's true though, *we can't assume* that they aren't. Just don't assume at all! A good way to start would be pushing for an investigation.

In that post I also pointed out that abortions form a very major part of their revenue. So to think that NONE of these outside funds go to their costliest service would be folly. Also if 4 is right then 3 must be right, since 4 states that some of the taxes go to abortions. Use a bit of common sense, please.

@Mattgasq This is a red herring. The revenue does not speak to the total services provided. Abortions are a much more expensive procedure than a blood pressure test, or a pap smear. Whether abortions make up a sizable portion of their income is irrelevant, as the argument was based of what services they provide.
