I recently tried to upgrade(add) more memory to my Inspiron 560 desktop and after I was finished the computer lit up but nothing else. The light came on but nothing would load and the processor light didn;t do anything(black screen on my monitor)It supposily is Dell certified for my computer but the computer only worked again after I took the chip back out. What did I do wrong?Thank you.
btw im thinking of getting a 1gb upgrade for my Gigabyte GA-73VM-S2 , and i want to ask will i have to format after adding memory or do some setup of some sort??
alright i added a 256mb to my pc and the screen was blank as the other comment but i smelled smoke and i unplugged it. the RAM had burned marks. so i got another one. could it have been that i added it the wrong way???
Yes,you need to find the right type of memory form your computer.
The best way to do so is the motherboard manual that came with the board.
Or you can go to the support side of the site of the manufacturer of the PC like Dell or Gateway. Look for the technical Specs for the computer. The TYPE AND MAX RAM SIZE WILL BE LISTED FOR YOUR PC.
Um I'm sorry to say this but. you said " this is a tutorial on how to update, remove ,add or replace ram onto or from your computer".... all i saw and all you did was just talk about the peces and how to take it out and put it back in. You didn't mention if i needed any type of dual module to plug in ram hardware.... :( If you get this. Plz update with the right agenda,
Everyone here, one thing that everyone should know. You CANNOT use more than 4gb of RAM if you are using a 32bit operating system! You can install more RAM than that but the OS will only recognize 4gb of RAM. If you put in 8gb of RAM then you will only be able to use half unless you install a 64bit OS. Mac OS X is different. You can install more than 4gb of RAM because it combines the uses of both a 32bit and a 64bit OS into one.
Yes I have more videos that i am uploading now and it great stuff...
