people seem to forget this film is a complete Masterpiece!!!, PTA and Robert Elswit were ahead of their time with PDL. Notice in this shot, the blue cracking light in the lense?, well this trick is being rinsed today in modern hip-hop/r'n'b videos, and PDL came out 2002, like I said - AHEAD OF ITS TIME!!!

@TeamHayMan LOL PTA is my 2nd fav. director(After Scorsese) and while I agree Punch Drunk Love is a great movie. He took that BLUE LENS FLARE from GODARD who was doing back in 1961. As a matter of fact this whole movie is a Homage to Godard's Movie: "A woman is a woman". Look it up!.

I still think it would have been out of place...its not necessarily out of Character in a sense that he wouldnt think it but i doubt he would say it...it takes away some of the meaning when he says it in bed because even though he doesn't know how to express her beauty he still is opening up.

because they want to set up the scene for later when he's in bed with the girl and they think each other are soo cute? Same sentiment. He doesn't know how to deal with cuteness and innocence. He wants it, but for whatever reason reacts violently, rejecting it.
